Seriously. I want to start a booktube channel but I read a couple a month if I’m lucky. I have a full time job and a side hustle but I love reading and would love to share that with others.

true, sometimes it can seem like a competition… BUT (speaking for myself here) reading helps escaping the real world and distract you from other things, so even though I say ‘quality over quantity’ I’ve come to realize that from the outside it may seem like I read only for the count
i am happy with me while reading over 40 books and i was happy when i read 20 books a year. reading slumps are kinda good and bad because they force you to take a break. i read about 40 maybe something books this year so far, and i had two reading slumps (one that lasted 3 months and one that lasted around a month)

Slowing down and really enjoying a book or a series is my sweet spot! It’s just nice to really get into the world of the book and get to know the characters but I think it’s cool you pushed yourself to see how many you could read. Definitely getting some of these recommendations
THE INFERNAL DEVICES!!! I would recommend reading this trilogy before mortal instruments because it will still make sense, they're a complete different point in time so I don't think there to be a right or wrong order. I hope you enjoy the series!

I was in a major reading slump recently too then read 19 this month!! granted I work from home 3 days a week so I have more time than the average person. But I helped myself by checking out more books than usual from the library (idk why but I will read a library book faster than a book I own). I got books in all different genres and I just switched genres constantly. Also listened to 2 of the books on audio while I was doing chores/driving to work. :) also DNFd a book for the first time ever because I was not about to be in a slump again lol
If you liked it, I highly recomment the "Remnant Chronicles". Dance of Thieves is like a spin-off of that series. You get to know about the life of Queen Lia who sends Kazi on her mission.
Just a note for lord of the rings! the hobbit is a middle grade book and then from there they are adult in terms of writing style but they really are amazing! hope you love them!
you'll be fine starting with the infernal devices!!! It doesn't spoil anything dw. Read last hours right after this(chain of gold, chain of iron, chain of thorns.) because its her best work in my opinion and its about the children of the characters in infernal devices.
@@tate5543 ahhhh I don’t know:( it’s a 6 book series and while it was enjoyable I much preferred the infernal devices. I don’t think there is a right or wrong order though, as long as you read infernal devices before last hours and tmi before tda.
@@bri1024 I wouldn't say that you would be completely lost because Cassieclare introduces the world in most of her books, but lady midnight is the first book in a trilogy called The Dark Artifices (tda) and it occurs chronologically after the mortal instruments (tmi) so there would be some spoilers about the end of tmi e.g. who dies, who lives, certain events. There are also a few references to characters and events from tmi like when one character appeared I was like heyyy I missed you so maybe read that series before starting tda? I think the best order is read tmi before tda:) hope that helps!
Fantasy is by far my favorite genre. I'm so happy you're stepping into our world! It's just, in my opinion, the perfect genre because it often involves other genres within it, there's mysteries, action, comedy, romance, and all the different tropes of course! Fantasy can literally encompass everything and it's so fun to get to escape into a completely different world. Also, I agree you probably should've started with the Mortal Instruments, since it was the original series, I think it provides a little more information and context about that world and such (I haven't read infernal devices yet so I'm not too sure) but it shouldn't be a huge deal.

Ive read 37 books this year so far and for me it’s A LOT! Cuz I have a work, I travelled, I love meeting friends, I have other hobbies, I love watching shows and just chilling at home while doing nothing and there’s not enough hours in a day to do all of that. I don’t really understand ppl’ who feel bad when they re in a reading slump.. If you don’t feel like reading, if you don’t want to, if you don’t have time… it’s okay ! Don’t pressure yourself, there’s no competition, do wathever make you feel good and happy ! Reading is meant to be fun. 🍏

Hey..I just wanted to ask you something because my cousin was reading ‘kiss of deception’ and she’s like 11…nearly twelve..but I feel like there are heavy topics in it? So is there like any spice or is it appropriate?
@@songloverz5074 there are some heavier themes, but these occur more in the 2nd and 3rd book! there is little to no spice with more of a “fade to black” vibe (this occurs in the 3rd book), death and war because it is a fantasy series, and not a lot of language if i can remember. but, honestly I would say 12-13 is a good age to start! If your cousin is already really into it, I recommend they just continue!! It’s a really great series but the first book is definitely the most tame!!
Tolkien is on my list next! I just finished all the Narnia books and I want to continue down that reading vibe. I was a little intimidated by LOTR series too so I’m glad you were surprised by the Hobbit. Makes me excited to start it.

Book recommendation- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the galaxy. Not sure if you’ve read it yet. It’s kind of a classic, not at all your comfort zone, a little bit spicy, and I found it utterly hilarious. I would rate it five stars, and I feel like you would find it an interesting, if not a five star read. 🍎
Don’t watch the movies for the hobbit, they ruined it with the trilogy movie and tried to make it like lord of the rings (which it is part of lord of the rings but it isn’t lord of the rings.) I liked the book so much better when I read it for school then watched the movie and was dissatisfied in how it was portrayed.
Now that you’re exploring into the fantasy genre I highly recommend the awakening series by Nora Roberts. There’s 2 books as of rn but the 3rd book comes out either next month or November!

i LOVE booktok/booktube but i never really read (i read one page a day if im lucky). i did read for 2 hours (147 pages) today though!! pretty proud of that :]
The Bodyguard is one of my favorite books of the year so far (I'll reach 200 by this month so that's saying something). Whenever I think about it I feel so happy. And I don't even like romcoms! It was pretty much perfect for me too.
When I was 8 I got my dad to read the first Harry Potter book. I am now 15 and he is going strong on number 5. You don’t have to read fast, just enjoy :)

The Hobbit is lovely and easy to read! Also, it’s a great introduction to Middle Earth. The films have some moments but the book is definitely better. As for Lord of the rings- it’s harder to read, especially in the beginning but stick with it because it gets beyond amazing! The movies are just as awesome and one of the best films ever made!
I wanna hop on some good romance books but couldn't find any that captivate me ! I read people we met on vacation it was good however so slow paced so it took me a while to finish it and now am searching for a fast paced one that is not cringe .
2 recommendations! A fun YA series I’ve read recently is Amari and the Night Brothers, so good. Also, if you like reading about the fae, you should try a different Margaret Rogerson book, Enchantment of Ravens. I think the pacing was a little better in that one, and it’s also got a small romance subplot. 🍎

OMG the infernal devices is my favorite series in the world!!! if you do want to read the mortal instruments eventually, be aware that the epilogue of Clockwork Princess somewhat spoils the ending of The Mortal Instruments but I still recommend it! id also recommend watching Emmabooks's RUclips video on how to read Cassandra Clare's books because its super helpful! can wait for you to read Clockwork Prince!!
A really good book i recently read was A Walk to Remember by Nicholas sparks. it was so good and i haven’t heard anyone talk about it. It’s an older book but i really fell in love with those characters so much so that watching the movie (which wasn’t nearly as good) still made me feel emotional. I don’t really know how to categorize books but i’d say it’s a romance/coming of age book.❤️🍎

Really I think it’s because my boyfriend bought me a kindle for my bday mid august and I dove into a cozy mystery series and I swear I read a 200pg kindle book in 2 hours without any effort

try reading shorter books (200-300 pages) you will get motivated by finishing a book than you read other

Book recommendation- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the galaxy. Not sure if you’ve read it yet. It’s kind of a classic, not at all your comfort zone, a little bit spicy, and I found it utterly hilarious. I would rate it five stars, and I feel like you would find it an interesting, if not a five star read. 🍎

Since you liked dance of thieves you should def read the kiss of deception! It’s a trilogy and dance of thieves was a spin-off of this trilogy.
Don’t watch the movies for the hobbit, they ruined it with the trilogy movie and tried to make it like lord of the rings (which it is part of lord of the rings but it isn’t lord of the rings.) I liked the book so much better when I read it for school then watched the movie and was dissatisfied in how it was portrayed.
Now that you’re exploring into the fantasy genre I highly recommend the awakening series by Nora Roberts. There’s 2 books as of rn but the 3rd book comes out either next month or November!

The Bodyguard is one of my favorite books of the year so far (I'll reach 200 by this month so that's saying something). Whenever I think about it I feel so happy. And I don't even like romcoms! It was pretty much perfect for me too.

The Hobbit is lovely and easy to read! Also, it’s a great introduction to Middle Earth. The films have some moments but the book is definitely better. As for Lord of the rings- it’s harder to read, especially in the beginning but stick with it because it gets beyond amazing! The movies are just as awesome and one of the best films ever made!
I wanna hop on some good romance books but couldn't find any that captivate me ! I read people we met on vacation it was good however so slow paced so it took me a while to finish it and now am searching for a fast paced one that is not cringe .
2 recommendations! A fun YA series I’ve read recently is Amari and the Night Brothers, so good. Also, if you like reading about the fae, you should try a different Margaret Rogerson book, Enchantment of Ravens. I think the pacing was a little better in that one, and it’s also got a small romance subplot. 🍎

OMG the infernal devices is my favorite series in the world!!! if you do want to read the mortal instruments eventually, be aware that the epilogue of Clockwork Princess somewhat spoils the ending of The Mortal Instruments but I still recommend it! id also recommend watching Emmabooks's RUclips video on how to read Cassandra Clare's books because its super helpful! can wait for you to read Clockwork Prince!!
A really good book i recently read was A Walk to Remember by Nicholas sparks. it was so good and i haven’t heard anyone talk about it. It’s an older book but i really fell in love with those characters so much so that watching the movie (which wasn’t nearly as good) still made me feel emotional. I don’t really know how to categorize books but i’d say it’s a romance/coming of age book.❤️🍎

!!!! i know you probably won't see this but you have no idea how happy it makes me that you enjoyed the hobbit, enjoyed tolkien's world, and you want to continue reading lotr. these books mean SO much to me.... it makes me so happy to see people enjoying it. lotr is inherently about good persevering against evil, and that it is the small deeds in our lives that matter. i hope these books resonate with you similarly to how they did with me

Really I think it’s because my boyfriend bought me a kindle for my bday mid august and I dove into a cozy mystery series and I swear I read a 200pg kindle book in 2 hours without any effort

I like to alternate genres each time I read if I can so I don’t get burned out and so it’s easier to remember each book individually and they don’t blend together in my crazy brain lol
