    You have it set up backward. Top tray should be coarse filter on the sides, media in middle. Bottom tray should be your coarse, med and fine filters..then media in the other trays. Your media should only come into contact with the clean filtered water.

      This is the JBL configuration.

      @KevinLamarche 4 года назад +5

      @@YehoshuaMenachem the jbl config is not efficient. You dont want dirty water and debris coming in contact with the bio filter material...just clean water, otherwise the dirt ect will clog the microscopic pores and valleys and basically minimize the good bacteria growth.

      @@AquariumLover2016 mine 1500 is loud even with new magnet. Thinking, may be the forgot to fill all cavities in filter head. Have you ever dissasembled head? If yes, is there any extra plasric in cavities around the pump? I dont have vibration from filter head, it is solid, but give some noise.

    Oh, don't get me wrong but you did it all upside down...
    First of all once you choose to keep JBL setup of filter media order that means you know nothing about proper filtration. Even beginners knows for the golden filtration rule: 1) mechanical (coarse -> medium -> fine pad) => 2) biological => 3) chemical (optional).
    And the filter canister maintenance you presented is... sorry man but horrible. You wanted to keep all that dirty water from your canister and put it back because in that WASTE you have allot of beneficial bacteria? Totally opposite... it's a mock and you have to get rid of it and clean every single piece of you canister properly (of course with tank water, not tap one)!
    However beneficial bacteria can live in sponges, biological filter media and all around the tank - glass walls, gravels, sand, woods, plants, stones... whatever you have inside. But most important thing is a quality of your biological filter media because there's the place for most of your beneficial bacteria lives and those should not get clogged - like yours.
    Doing maintenance of canister filter once in a year is... again, don't get me wrong but horrible.
    This is good example of how you should NOT do it if you like your fish and you want them to live in healthy environment.

    That's how not to run a filter it's dirty all the way throw and it's not set up right won't work right 11 month shame on u lol

  • @masterjoda5512
    @masterjoda5512 3 года назад +1

    First of all, like some people already said your canister filter setup is totally wrong. The golden rule of how to setup filtration is: 1) mechanical (COARSE > MEDIUM > FINE pad); 2) BIOLOGICAL and 3) CHEMICAL (optional). Otherwise whatever you use as bio-media it will be clogged and not so useful (not enough surface for beneficial bacteria nor enough oxygen for those bacteria to reproduce and live).
    Second thing, you are using a lot of coarse sponges (pads) which are totally useless : it won't capture anything nor it will provide a lot of area for beneficial bacteria. Also, those coarse pads layers are made of two pieces so water will leak between and basically it won't do anything. I know those came with a filter but you have to get rid of it from middle basket and fill it with quality bio-media.
    And finally, cleaning a filter means you have to clean it. Leaving debris in sponges and water is... horrible. If you think it's good for beneficial bacteria, well you are just half-right. Like 100x more bacteria will live in good quality bio-media, so just CLEAN it (of course with de-chlorinated water or tank water). You have to clean every single part of your filtration: all sponges, bio-media, and chemical media. If your filtration setup is correct, you WON'T have dirty and clogged bio-media nor chemical media, because all debris will remain in MECHANICAL part/basket(s) which is 1st part of filtration.
    Also, no matter how little fish you have, you have to clean this filter at least once in 6 months. Otherwise your impeller could break.
    Sorry for my comment, I don't want to be rude nor to insult you, but this is totally wrong and people who are new in this hobby will learn it wrong.
    However, you made a great video HOW NOT TO SETUP THE FILTER and HOW NOT TO CLEAN IT.
    I know that you just used it how manufacturer (JBL) described on the box/manual, but it's totally wrong. I really don't understand how come that such a great brand (JBL) can even put a setup like this.
    Wish you the best luck, and again sorry for my comment, not intended to insult you but to put things like it should be.

      Its stragen, As I know that rule, too, But if you look at the instructions video of JBL themselves, You will notice thats the order they put in the filteration levels.
      They refer to the 'sponges' as the biological filter (I dont know why..) the first step that I know of as the biological filter (the white beads) they refer to as just a plain first filter that removes big particles...
