Hilarious! These ladies I work with play the 50's and 60's radio station on satellite and this song comes on all the time. I can't even hear it without thinking about the Flintstones. I'm glad this clip is on here.
I always thought it was the Mersey sound, and I have always loved this song. It was great to find out the Beau Brummell were actually from San Francisco. One of so many great groups to come out of the Bay Area in that era. We Fiive also from San Francisco has a similar sound as far as I am concerned. This is a great clip I remember it when it was first shown. I only question is: was that actually the Beau Brummels singing? It sounded kind of slow as compared to the actual version, which I am absolutely familiar with.
@@SW2799 Yes. This version was the Beau Brummels singing and playing live. There's a video of the actual performance: ruclips.net/video/1_GeYgT58d0/видео.html from Shindig
I had to look up this video since I was playing the MP3 of the song. Great boyhood memories of first hearing this song on the Flintstones in the 70's. This song predates me by nearly a year and a half. I came into the world when "Monday, Monday" by the Mamas and the Papas was at number 1.
Love this!!! So glad someone put a new clip of Beau Brummelstones; previous one a few yrs ago was taken down. That clip was later in this episode showing band at replica of Ah Fongs restaurant in Hollywood.

If the Beatles recorded this perfect pop gem it would have been an ever bigger international hit song. The song was produced by some young unknown aspiring 21-year-old genius named Sylvester Stewart, who the world would soon find out about his own brilliant music when he decided to call himself the one and only Sly Stone!
Fred later turns off the television and Jimmy Oneilstone’s arm reached out of the set and turned it back on. My kid brother and I would crack up at that!
True, they focused on Ron Elliott, who wrote the song. But Sal (tambourine) memorably sang the song, so beautifully. Truly one of the great songs of the era.
@bender1958 Man I agree. But the Rock and Roll Hallof Shame is run by people that wouldn't know realrock music if it hit them in the face. Just remember, if you're not pissing somebody off, you're not playing rock 'n'roll.
REALLY SAD most under age 60 (GenX, Millenials, GenZ) are not observant/clueless about what happened in 1965, a time teens could LAUGH, DANCE, MORE OPTIMISTIC about their futures! Seemingly not so for today's unhappy, under-educated, artificial machine-embracing, shorter life expectancy teens and young adults.
@problem49 As I've said several times, it seems the RRHOF is more interested in pandering to the MTV crowd than respecting the fans of real rock and roll.
It's a shame that the Rock and Roll Hall Fame (or should I say Rock and Roll Hall of Lame) are eager to display Lady Gaga's meat dress, but will not induct the Beau Brummels, the Monkees, or Paul Revere and the Raiders.
@bender1958 Unfortunately, the R&R HOF is now a joke and has been for a while. It was legit in the early years when the likes of Elvis, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley, Beatles, Stones etc were inducted, but once they started putting pop artists and that ilk in there, it became a joke. It became a popularity contest, and it no longer mattered what kind of music they performed. It became all about how big the artist is, not what they did for "Rock" music. Madonna? Rappers? Leonard Cohen? ABBA? A joke.

I like all three of these acts, but these are the standards that the HOF tries to hold to, but not always.
The Flintstones is what introduced me to the Beau Brummels. I remember back in the early 2000s, "Laugh Laugh" was on the radio. When I said it's The Beau Brummels, he asked me how I knew that, and I told him they were on The Flintstones.
Like several other commenters, I first watched this as a child, and that was my intro to the BBs. The melodies in this song immediately penetrated me, and they've stayed with me all these years. And they flow perfectly. The singer tells the story with the first. The second (the "laugh laugh" part) is more exuberant. The third ("Oh so lonely") is quieter, introspective, and forlorn. Each melody is catchy, and all together flow into a full experience. This really is a great song.
I love The Flinstones and this is my favorite song during the run of this show. When I found out that it was based on a real group later, The Beau Brummels, I got the song from Itunes.

Six days prior to their appearance on 'The Flintstones' their "Don't Talk to Strangers" was at #62 on the Top 100 and that was also its last day on the chart... * Personally, when I first heard "Laugh, Laugh" in 1964 I thought the song's title was "Last Laugh", and it could have been, for it fits...
Interesting, because this isn't the original version but a re-record. Probably cheaper to do it that way than to license the master for broadcast. But this is like product placement, it's basically a commercial for the single, which was in process of being promoted. Love strange stuff like that. So cool.
