What grade would you say grammar land would be okay to start! I was going to buy Harvey’s grammar but this seems so much better

Did you decide not to do Rays arithmetic? What made you chance? 🥰

I do Ray’s on and off. The kiddos aren’t as into it a I am 😆 I use Ray’s more as extra math-fact practice. I’m not sure if I’ll keep on with Ray’s, but we’ll see. Right now, my oldest (who groaned over math) now begs to do math. He even wants to do school on our days off. 😆🥳

@@Homeschooling_with_the_Riveras Have you tried other arithmetic books that are similar to Ray's? Wentworth, Hamilton's, Baird, etc. There are so many old books that are (in my opinion) superior to Ray's in the variety of the questions offered. Ray's only has a few word problems for each set tables, whereas many other books have more including adorable little pictures to reference when doing the equations.
I LOOOVE using books like Graded Arithmetic First Year by Samuel Baird and First Lessons in Arithmetic by William J. Milne for oral practice. We use Ray's here and there, but these are more interesting. There are free PDFs for these online for download.
We also use Math Mammoth and Life of Fred with my 7 year old. 4 year old has learned decoding 3 letter words and will be working on little sentences next. 2 year old is scribbling on everyone's work including her own sketchbook or colouring books lol.
I actually got the idea to order one of those blank digging into God's word journals after watching your last video haha. My daughter likes for her things to be beautiful so I'll be getting some pretty water bottle stickers from Amazon to put all over the orange cover. 😂 Bible verses and purple watercolour girly things like flowers and such. I have a collection of materials that get the language arts box checked off so the Bible journal will be one of them. We have another Bible journal that's bigger, but doesn't have a prayer spot. Instead it has a section for copywork and almost a whole page for a drawing. She does that while I sit with her and the readings come from Meeting with Jesus by David Murray.
The digging into God's word bible will be used in a slightly different way. I want to see if I can get my daughter reading a chapter of her Bible and independently do the journal like your son was. I'm hoping she'll like the freedom of choosing the verse that sticks out to her for any reason and then I'll write the prayer for her since my smaller writing can fit more. Maybe we'll do the highlighting thing too! We recently started pointing out parts of speech so highlighting might be a fun addition also to add colour to the journal pages.
I hope you're doing well mentally and physically after the miscarriage. I have had a few misses including a missed one that required a D&C - which was basically on the same level of pain as the c-section I received after my first baby. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well. Around the dinner table we pray for your family here and there - especially your husband's health. My daughter likes your family and hearing about what your 7 year old does for homeschool. She loves that you guys have similar aged children to ours. My girls are age 7, 4 and 2 - they all had winter birthdays. Ok, I'll wrap it up before I think of anything else to add haha. God bless you and your lovely family. I pray that you all will do well health-wise and that you'll have happy days without too much stress. ♡

So sorry to hear of your miscarriage. Sherry has encouraged me so much as a homeschool mom. She has reminded me how important the basics are, and it looks like that's exactly what you need in this season of life.
