I have a lot of Olive trees in Portugal, but i have 3 that people say are almost as the same age as my country, almost 900 years, they are great trees, and when you see a truly old one, you feel a great amount of reverence. And you dont need realy, to care for it, just a few trims 2 and 2 years, and the tree will grow strong Its good to see you share your wisdom about it :)

And now especially women community encourage about the. Olive grow.
Olive tree is probably the most majestic tree you will find and yea they will live for hundreds of years I wish I can grow it here in Kentucky.thanks for the video
They are growing A LOT of Olive trees here in Phoenix. Some towns by law only allow Fruitless varieties, because they produce no allergy pollens. It's a high pollen tree otherwise. But, they are SO pretty. We plan to plant 1 or 2 Swan Hill (certified fruitless).
Here with us the olive tree would have caused a massacre, there are them everywhere and for thousands of years, obviously fruit trees to produce oil and for table purposes, but no one has ever complained, could it be the culture?
@@katherinestiletto Was doing great, then sadly it died just as the weather turned cold. Going to make a second attempt this year. I live in S.E. Kentucky where the winters haven’t been bad at all.
Love this kind and knowledgeable gentleman's videos! I have one of these olive trees in my backyard in the panhandle of Florida and its beautiful. Produces sort of pale green leaves that are stunning. Have tried to cure the olives (still need to perfect that. my first attempts did not come out well)

I don't know if the video poster will see this comment, but here we go anyway! How long does it take for an Olive Tree to begin to get its wider trunk & begin to become more substantial?

What did he say at the end? "By the way if you're gonna eat the olives you're gonna have to ...... 'em out. You don't eat them off the tree." Did he say "GROW" as in don't prune them? If so, why don't you eat them off the tree?
Raw olives are naturally very bitter. You can "cure" them (=make them palatable) by removing the bitterness. The most common curing processes use brine, dry salt, water, or lye treatments. The University of California's division of Agriculture and Natural Resources describes these treatments in their publication "Olives: safe methods for home pickling": anrcatalog.ucanr.edu/pdf/8267.pdf
I also live in PR and today I started looking into how to import some mature cuttings from somewhere to harvest as soon as possible. I will check ebay and Amazon first to check the possibilities.
No, it needs a lot of heat and sun maybe you can if u grow them under big light and control temperature but the problem is the size of the olive tree which needs big space.
There are olive trees way older than christ, just in my country Portugal we have a 3500 year old tree, which has been confirmed by scientists and thats not even the oldest one in the world, there are many older ones in Spain, Greece and other countries I think the oldest one in the world is around 5000 years old
That olive tree is in Palestine, precisely in Bethlehem not Israil, which is a colonial imperialistic project that didn’t exist until UK/US created it in 1948
It’s neat to read the comments and see people from all over the world discussing olive trees😊

Please advice me how to plant olive in Papua New Guinea which is more tropical climate. Thanks
Did he say 40 years to get a olive from seed
Yep when I heard that I was like, Well I guess I won't try to plant these olive pits from the olives I'm eating right now after all.
😂😂😂😂😂
Oh no maybe we could buy the plant
That’s only for starting it from a seedling. Grafted or basically baby sprouted plant is 3-4 years from planting.
40 yrs before a seedling gives fruit. Wow!
love the shirt
The number 40 has great significance in biblical history. No doubt the olive tree is any different.

its cure. Its how we speak in the south. cure'em out = cure them out
He said throw them out (at the end of the video) if you eat them off the tree. Meaning spit them out of your mouth because they are very bitter.

Violation of the Tora, which forbids destruction of trees that bear fruits.
Im sorry to hear that. They tend to destroy a lot of olive trees.
