That is so true. And I for one, would hate that. I think he is at a good place right now and I want him to be happy creating that content. He has a unique brand of style and that is something worth preserving. For one, I admire his straight forward honesty. It has always been refreshing and it commands respect. And speaking on a personal note, I learnt from him - a big deal - in terms of actually playing the games. By acknowledging my shortcomings...and looking up what he did, e.g. buffing your generals for the campaign stuff, like movement range, rather than morale on the battlefield. And in that last video on Thrones of Britannia (watch it, guys, it is really good) he pretty much summarized the current situation of Total War in a calm, collected, mature way. If someone cannot stand his criticism, I understand that, but then again - you don't grow without constructive criticism. And the points he made on the campaign management actually go beyond - I would go so far as to say thy are valid for stuff like project management. He correctly showcases knowledge (how stuff works) and meta-knowledge (why it works the way it does and how it all fits together under the surface) and this is something few people do. So I guess, all I really want to say is let's keep Legend happy and we all win.
I don't know if it's the only game where it's actually challenging, as I find that the higher difficulties in all of them are more than tough, but it's definitely got the most organic challenge to it for a number of reasons. 1st, there's the fact that due to it being a civil war, most factions are mostly the same with smaller buffs, which makes them less potentially interesting perhaps, but means that most armies are generally pretty equally matched as the game progresses. You're never going to have the Rome issue where Rome is pretty much always dominant because of their vastly superior Infantry. Then, there's the historical setting theme accuracy where Samurai don't have shields, which means that the best way to deal with missile units is to be aggressive, which means you have to push hard on the attack to win, which tends to make things tougher and turn into a clusterfuck more easily. Then there's the honor system in the game, which I find adds the most challenge of all. In Rome or Medieval you really have no issue sacking cities, and it's a fine idea, but in Shogun, doing so hurts honor, and hurting honor has a lot of negative effects. So you're not exactly forced, but you're super encouraged to play less aggressively and slowly and within your more limited managed settlement economic growth (especially on higher difficulties where public order is tougher to manage and you want to maintain high honor as much as possible for the bonus), which has the added effect of generally favoring shorter wars of expansion until Realm divide hits. Then there's Realm divide itself, which basically makes the whole game go from a normal campaign to a This is Total War! campaign within a pretty short timespan, so you've got that to contend with too. In general, all the elements add up so that yeah, it's certainly the most challenging game, but I don't think it's the ONLY challenging game.
Just wanted to say that these campaign saving videos are awesome which is mostly down to you being really good at these games. Sometimes I'm just shocked like "how did he win this battle?" lol. Keep it up
I understand why you don't like the gunpowder era TW ( I enjoy'em despite there big flaws) but I still enjoyed your Napoleon play through as Napoleonic France. Still enjoying this series, even the self sabotaged one was great. You caught on to it, made a video on it any way showing us all exactly how you knew it wasn't organic, AND YOU STILL carried on and saved the fake disaster. One of the many testaments to your......Legend.....of total war
Love this series, I learn alot from watching you play. It makes me alot more enthusiastic to play total war. I've been pretty depressed lately, idk if it's because I stopped smoking weed or what. But either watching your videos usually throws me outta that depressed mindset, it also help you're a genuine person lol idk if that's weird to say but yeah. Love the videos and the channel, keep it up man.
Wish I still had my old Shogun2 (vanilla) Takeda save. Thought I was doing good, was fighting a war on two fronts (Date and Usuegi) but my econ was good and my armies were performing well. Then my Daimyo's brother betrayed me and flipped his army with him. He proceeded to decimate my undefended flank and I was pushed all the way back to Kai from all sides.
Don't worry about negative comments. You'll end up just feeding trolls. I love watching these Saving Your Disaster campaigns. Since watching them, I feel like I'm a better Total war player and have defiantly upped my game.
Dont worry about the bs man, we are here because we enjoy what you do. Dont worry about what the viewer wants cuz were here for YOUR content, otherwise youd be watching our youtube channel, really enjoy the SYD series and the work you do. Keep at it brother.
One thing I like about this series is that, IMO, Total War games shine when you are in some disaster situation. The early games are always better than mid and late games due to being more challenging. These situations even make it a better option to play battles manually on titles such as Rome 2 and Atilla. Anyways, just saying this has been very entertaining. Keep it up, mate.
Hey Legend. I am a total war player for the last 12 years, and we are the same age. I want only to tell you that you just dont have to give a damn about what others say. Its just a game. You play it as you like, and just dont bother from the complaints....espesialy if they complaints are kids, 16 years old or younger. I guess most of the negative comments come from them, not the veterans. And It is logical for me to autoresolve alot, after 1000-2000 or even more hours of playing total war games.
Hey man just found your channel and your videos are addicting. I am learning just by watching your videos and they are entertaining. Have you ever thought of playing multiplayer campaigns vs other players. I would love to see the new level of strategy needed to fight other people.
I like chill gaming channels, keep em like they've been. If you aren't having fun and are forcing yourself to play we can tell, lots of streamers do that and it sucks.
some encouragement here, you prolly know this already, since you noticed you can't please everyone, instead of trying to do that (if you are), your focus could be on setting some quality standards that you think are best, and that's it. Who likes it likes it, who doesn't, some of them will leave. But your fanbase as you say and your loyal viewers, most of them will be on par with you on most of what you do and how you do it. And you'll keep attracting the same type of viewers. Most of us who are here for a long time want to watch a no bullshit guy who actually is very good at what he does, who doesn't hesitate to call things how they are if he thinks he is right, and also who can own up to his shit and accept it. That's what I like, that's what come to see. Negative comments will always come regardless of what you do, like a 5 star hotel that's super rated, it still has a few 1 star reviews, someone is bound to be a little retarded or to have a bad experience. Can't control it - as long as it's not an overwhelming number of those, should be fine right? As for the channel doing well, some ideas like this series here can really help out - I would suggest that you can create a poll or a system where people can send in suggestions of campaign or series ideas (only cav Baktria series, only peasant army, get top tier troops asap, etc - example of stuff you did in the past, or anything similar - people can come up with a lot of nice ideas if many of us contribute) . When you have time, sort them out, see if anything looks like a good idea, and do it.
Smashin' it, glad your having fun with the series! really need to blow the dust off Shogun 2 and play again... still has the best looking unit card graphics in any TW
I’m sure others have echoed this sentiment, but of course you can’t please everyone! There may be other ways but as far as I know you must either do what you like and gather those who approve, or choose an audience to target and pander to them. For instance I have watched quite a bit of this series because it is fundamentally different from a let’s play and you don’t piss me off since you are competent. Don’t sweat the small things.
I just wanted to say that I really enjoy this series and ive been watching for a while. Ive always wanted to play against the hardest opponents within the campaign and I hope that when i fuck it all up I could possibly send mine in! Probably Shogun 2 as I am terrible at it.
Also, about 1:10:00 or so, the 'one turn on, one turn off', not questioning anything as I know the short term benefit is definitely needed there, but doesn't it also lower the town's income overtime by damaging Growth?
Here my motivation speech: Play a magnificent game for a magnificent audience and don't let your mind drift to dark places and your eyes to the comment and subscriber section. Keep your mind occupied with things you like, or otherwise it will work against you.
It's a real shame that you've got dead subs. But there are always a few others I see actively talking in the comments that have been here for a long ass time. If anything you've definitely got loyal viewers. Hope this growth keeps coming!
i like watching and dont really care about how people feel as i have said before i rarely finish camps because once i am in a win position i feel i may as well move on.
I wonder how many of the unsabotaged campaigns are recent ones. Because I would assume, if you're watching Legend, that you should have a pretty good idea of how you should, or maybe better put: how you can, play total war games succesfully, and that you therefor never got into a disaster scenario. I would actually think it's people remembering: oh yeah, I once had that shitty campaign that I gave up on, and I should still have the savefile somewhere, let's find it and send it to Legend.
Always love your content. Question: would you play a new rome 2 campaign with the divide et impera? don't take this wrong, it just seems really hard and in-depth. way too much for me myself but i got really curious how you would deal with the new challenges that the mod provides. I never knew the mod existed but just got this in my recommendations" /watch?v=vDhIG2UHFsw " and haven't watched all your video's so i don't know if you mentioned it already or i just forgot that you don't want to deal with a new rome 2 campaign with a new mod/overhaul.
No need to always seek the apocalyptic doom campaign of darkness every episode, even a half fucked is good :) in fact It's better! I personally appreciate more the complitely disastrous doom and darkness cluster fucks if they only happen sometimes...i don't want them as norms they would lose their flavour...some episodes have been truly memorable (like the One where legend lost at turn 1 in campaign because of assassins, or the seleucid One) moral of the story we want some great campaign in a sea of normal ones :)
Watching this makes me want to start a campaing in the hardest settings and with an ironman mentality (not sure if the ones I have have that option) and see if I get to the point I'd need help xD
I don't care how fucked they are, i'll call them out if I believe they are fake fuck ups (Like the Byzantium one, and the French one) but beyond that, I just enjoy watching you get out of super sticky situations, Usually i give up if it all seems hopeless. chances are I won't be able to win as i'm not that good.. But you've shown me that sometimes all is not lost, and you can totally turn things around easily enough
Hey Legend! I had an old SS campaign as on of the Islam factions, I can't remember their name, but they're in the middle of Byz, Crusader States, Turks, the Caliphate etc. I had one point where it was pretty bad (not the worst! like you've said it shouldn't be about upping someone else's campaign) but I had a TON of fun getting out of it. If I send it, it'll be obviously sabotaged because I'll have tried to recreate the old game (whereas by now it's either saved over or long gone.) Is that alright with you? It is purposely gonna be sabotaged, but only in hopes of recreating one of my most enjoyable/risky moments of medieval 2.
22:10 I don't think that's true actually. In some total war games i have observed the AI being much more passive when attacking if theere is no battle time limit.
Don't get troops out of the castle. From my experience its worthless. I have defeated multiple armies on sieges just from defending the walls. But great gameplay.
hmm, is it deliberate sabotage, if I want to try harder difficulty what I'm actually playing to challenge myself, failing campaign and it will come disaster? And then watching legend playing it and learning my mistakes and improving my play style.....
He just won't do it mate. Definitely not before he takes care of them himself. If you want them that badly though dig around it the comments . The people who send it off to him usually thank legend in the comments of the videos of there disaster
I wonder how many tries before Legend won that 3v1 battle ;p In all seriousness, is Legend playing scenario and he will post it no matter the result, or he plays untill he win and then post it?
It's ok, just that he's not that great with guns so it's going to not have the same priority ( so he states ). Ideally Rise of the Samurai it's still hybrid and it's doable, while Napoleon and Empire focus mostly on guns so there's no guarantee at all that he'll play those.
Legend do you accept Thera mod campaign? I know you said you don t want any other mods than Stainless but I was wondering if you will not to send ye wasting your time reading my email.
From 3:08 till 9:55 rules about sending Legend campaigns. (almost sent him my Somnium Apostatae Iuliani mess)
Guys, could you please thumb up this comment?
That is so true. And I for one, would hate that. I think he is at a good place right now and I want him to be happy creating that content. He has a unique brand of style and that is something worth preserving.

Good one thanks for this
perfectly said.
Your a good man blazodeolireta
“General, we are outnumbered three to one!”
Legend: Good, then it is an even fight
xD
All archers fire at will, burn their mongrel hide's!
Loving the references guys xd
halo 3 was a great game
😄
he coughed and farted at the same time in this video
Lol what time
God I love the fury and swiftness of shogun 2 sieges. God you held that fort beautifully.
I don't know why, but Shogun 2 campaigns/fixes are most pleasant to watch on youtube.
Maybe it's because this game is actually good, which is a rare exception for a Total War game.
This is the only total war game which is actually challenging imo
De sousa, Shogun one is miles more challenging. Medieval 1 too, to some extent. Even Rome and M2TW have their moments.
I don't know if it's the only game where it's actually challenging, as I find that the higher difficulties in all of them are more than tough, but it's definitely got the most organic challenge to it for a number of reasons.

I would also like to add that the elegance of the campaign map and sleek user interface.
I'm just happy to see more content from you man, don't get too caught up with the bs :)
Just wanted to say that these campaign saving videos are awesome which is mostly down to you being really good at these games. Sometimes I'm just shocked like "how did he win this battle?" lol. Keep it up

I'm really happy it's working out with the views and all. you deserve it.
That siege battle was strangely helped by how bluntly it was red versus blue..
Don't worry about negative comments. You'll end up just feeding trolls. I love watching these Saving Your Disaster campaigns. Since watching them, I feel like I'm a better Total war player and have defiantly upped my game.

Legend each one of these has been awesome don't stress this series is great as it is.
You should be in charge of an academy of strategy games, you will be the caesar of our legions

where do you find such epic pictures for thumbnails?
Yeah that! The Byzantine one was amazing!
Where?
Yay for Google
Smashin' it, glad your having fun with the series! really need to blow the dust off Shogun 2 and play again... still has the best looking unit card graphics in any TW

Would you take DLC campaigns? Things like Rise of the Samurai, or Imperator Augustus type of stuff?
I believe he would accept any DLC he has them all
I just wanted to say that I really enjoy this series and ive been watching for a while. Ive always wanted to play against the hardest opponents within the campaign and I hope that when i fuck it all up I could possibly send mine in! Probably Shogun 2 as I am terrible at it.
You moved the bow ashigaru by accident.... dont yell at him lmao
They don't all have to be crazy hard epic. The variety and tactics are the best part.
That was one of the coolest TW battles I've seen.
14 people got triggered because Legend cant please everyone
Do what makes you happy and have fun with! Loving these vids
Wow that battle against 10k enemy with 3k. :O Greatest I have ever seen in Total war. :O
I still enjoy the ones who are not completely fucked, and doing the ones who are no 'too' bad just makes the apocalypse ones even better!
I always love the thumbnails for these videos
Also, about 1:10:00 or so, the 'one turn on, one turn off', not questioning anything as I know the short term benefit is definitely needed there, but doesn't it also lower the town's income overtime by damaging Growth?
yes but he needs the money to build up right now so its worth it
So.. Exactly what I said, then. The short term benefit is definitely needed there.
So annoyed this isn't a Takeda campaign. Oh well, at least he HAS Takeda videos to watch/.
you really don't need to be the ''hardest ever''. I enjoy half disasters just as much ;)
Here my motivation speech: Play a magnificent game for a magnificent audience and don't let your mind drift to dark places and your eyes to the comment and subscriber section. Keep your mind occupied with things you like, or otherwise it will work against you.

Archers have more than 30 men per unit, wow this is gonna be great
i like watching and dont really care about how people feel as i have said before i rarely finish camps because once i am in a win position i feel i may as well move on.
Pretty sure this is EVERY Shogun 2 campaign...
I don’t care if these are super catastrophic. Just getting out of a pinch is way fun to see
Hope to see a total war 2 save some time. Fun stuff though
I wonder how many of the unsabotaged campaigns are recent ones. Will you take Fall of the Samurai files?
Well he didn't say no FotS sooooo one can only assume. ......SEND IT

STAND AND FIGHT its the best skill soo far above from the rest. Ashigaru with 9 melee attack intead of 4 is huge (+3+2)
I don't care how fucked they are, i'll call them out if I believe they are fake fuck ups (Like the Byzantium one, and the French one) but beyond that, I just enjoy watching you get out of super sticky situations, Usually i give up if it all seems hopeless. chances are I won't be able to win as i'm not that good.. the only campaign I've made in napoleon tw was with the ottomas empire with darthmod, I enjoyed it
Duuude more,, u r a cool guy lul
we're enjoying it af
Pls more total war shogun campagn with takeda clan
22:10 I don't think that's true actually. In some total war games i have observed the AI being much more passive when attacking if theere is no battle time limit.
Play the same battle twice, once without timer and with timer and the AI will behave the same with only slight variations each time.
Don't get troops out of the castle. From my experience its worthless. I have defeated multiple armies on sieges just from defending the walls. But great gameplay.
wow you are a really good player well done mate :) subscribed
hmm, is it deliberate sabotage, if I want to try harder difficulty what I'm actually playing to challenge myself, failing campaign and it will come disaster? And then watching legend playing it and learning my mistakes and improving my play style.....
Does anyone know how to fix the annoying garrison respawns in the Third Age medieval mod?
You know you've been playing too much WH:TW when you're wonder why at least one of these factions isn't using Deep Paths.
Would you do a Thrones of Brittania Save?
Mate, upload the saves, both before and after for the rest of us to have some fun!
He just won't do it mate. Definitely not before he takes care of them himself. If you want them that badly though dig around it the comments . The people who send it off to him usually thank legend in the comments of the videos of there disaster
Is this going to be a permanent series?
Saving your disaster total war campaigns - Constantinople 1453
You didnt say anything about FOTS, do you do FOTS? I would hope so considering it's the best thing Total War has ever done.
Abu Bakr he said he doesnt like guns so i wouldnt
can i send u some save files from a non-steam version?
best TW series ever
Jack of all trades, master of none but better then a ruler one
This series is pretty good, I especially enjoy the rome 2 ones, but I am guessing you dont. Keep it up!
Yes, no, maybe. But serious man you gotta get into the philosophy of not giving a fuck.
Would you acept stainless steel 6.3 ?
keep up the good job
Do you stream on twitch?
He does, look him up on google.
Found him, thanks.
Is it even possible to fuck up a TW:WH1-2 campaign?
Would be fun if somebody sent you a campaign, you would unfuck it and they would play it and fuck it up again and send it 2 you again xD
I wonder how many tries before Legend won that 3v1 battle ;p In all seriousness, is Legend playing scenario and he will post it no matter the result, or he plays untill he win and then post it?
First one, as he clearly states that he's not always confident about the outcome of some doomfiles.
He utilizes save-scum only on Blitz campaigns ( and only if he's aiming for auto-resolve ) or for particular agents moves.
What about Fall of Samurai. You didnt mention it so I sent you one.
He actually did say that fall of the samurai was okay in a previous episode
It's ok, just that he's not that great with guns so it's going to not have the same priority ( so he states ).
Ideally Rise of the Samurai it's still hybrid and it's doable, while Napoleon and Empire focus mostly on guns so there's no guarantee at all that he'll play those.
Awesome!
You willing to accept RotR Rome 2 saves? Got a Brennus campaign that is pretty fucked
Aw, no Darthmod?
scenarios are way more creative.
Im nit a dead sub i watch your streams
Awesome content tho
