As far as 40% and 35% silver goes, I think the 40% halves are greatly underappreciated. The war nickels have manganese which makes them very difficult to refine. However, the halves are 60% copper so they're no more difficult to refine than "junk". You just end up getting some extra copper nitrate out of the deal when you cement out the Ag.

I only stack 90% percent constitutional junk silver. I totally agree that it is a waste to stack the 40% percent halves and also the war nickels. When I buy junk silver from my lcs, I always look through it myself and there is usually Mercury dimes mixed in with the the Roosevelt dimes. I usually pick out all of the decent mercuries. As for the quarters, I always choose the Washington over the standing Liberty quarters because the slq are always very worn, scratched, and have incomplete dates. Great video!

I watched a video where they unboxed a monster box that had been buried in the back yard for 8 years and it kept the silver in good condition for all those years...Moral of the story-monster boxes are great for storage...
I just started stacking and don't really plan on getting constitutional, but watched the whole video. I knew very little on the subject, now I know a bunch. Your videos are great, thanks.
I watched the entire video just to see how many times you would drop your silver on the floor. That's a great stack foundation. Those monster boxes get HEAVY pretty quick.
Thanks for sharing, good choice! Cool box you've accumulated. So fun take out the stash every once in awhile. Thinking about the history, your mind can dream and relax.
Gold Stacking here in the US, we have good reasons to maintain our anti-china opinions/sentiment! It is difficult to find products which are not made in china - no matter whether it is garlic at the grocery store, shoes for our feet, or cellphones! Also, outside the USA, china holds an unhealthy portion of our public debt; our politicians should have never allowed so much debt to be aquired by other than US Citizens!, but then politicians rarely try to do what is best for their own country anyhow! On top of those problems, we can pile the huge number of counterfeit products (including metals) which china sends to other countries (including the USA)!
In circulation when I ordered State and Park Washington quarters I received a few W quarters and they are worth over $100.00 because I saw an episode of Pawn Stars with Chumlee.
I am just the opposite on what I select with quarters. Since I am a stacker (at least for now), I am stacking as much as I can for a little as I can. So if I have a choice between a Washington or a SLQ, I’d take the Washington...more silver (normally).
Learned some things I didn’t know. I watched the whole video looking at my 1923 peace liberty thinking damn they made a lot of them. I love the peace liberty though. My best coin graded I have is a ms 64 Morgan
I watched your video 2 times great 👍 video thank you for sharing. I am totally new to collecting and I never realized how much work goes into this hobby. But your videos inspire me to keep going and finding out about different years of coins and the history that is behind it. Thank you again. Be safe 🙏
@SpegTacular I want to start my stacking with junk silver. My local shop wants 13x face, is that a fair price? Also, no searching - I get what I get. Shall I search elsewhere?
I mean, I don't know what kind of choices you have where you're at beyond that place but by me, only one place doesn't let you search through. $13 isn't out of this world, but it isn't a great deal either. If you're not going to be allowed to search through it, many online places have far better deals on junk silver.
Yes I stayed I’m interested in what you collect . I buy ASE mainly but have a little bit of PEACE and Morgan’s , rounds and a lot of constitutional and don’t need any more junk . I’m buying cull of ASE at 1.75 over spot . $15.50 cull Peace and 16.50 cull of Morgan’s . I haven’t bought Rounds in a while but have Prospectors and some sunshine and I like a couple of premium Koooks koalas pandas .
Thank you SpegTacular. I watched the whole thing- in three installments because I kept getting called away. That’s a great box of junk silver there! 👍 Flatten the staples in the 2X2s to prevent scratching☝️😀.
Everyone is different, I collect Aussie pre decimal coins. But a monster box of it would not interest to me. I have album & i trying to put together a full set. But I guess I do that with all my coins, love making sets. It makes the whole stacking experience more enjoyable to me.
Don't like standing liberty quarters, most are to worn, slicks, hockey pucks...I like beefy Washington quarters, like Roosevelt dimes, Franklin Halves...I only buy clear/easy to read dates...
If I had more constitutional/junk silver ... I'd buy some Whitman folders and populate the holes! Also, in my experience, Washington quarters carry the lowest premium over spot. Buy "mixed" constitutional, and that's what you'll end up with 99% of the time. Specifically buy dimes or halves and you'll almost always pay more. What really surprises me are the relatively low premiums on BU 1964 Kennedies!
I love silver too I listened and glances the whole length while I was searchin a half dollar box just got my first liberty round just because it has the walking liberty face , I have a mercury 1 oz round I like that design also it’s like a giant mercury dime.
I soooo want to search your stack for varieties! The war nickel you showed had a lamination error which makes it with more than melt. (A few dollars more) I bet you have some goodies in there. If you find a ddo or ddr in just one you could easily turn a $1 melt nickel into a $50 bill. Imagine what you could find in the 90% silver 😳
I stayed the whole time. I decided to switch to junk silver for a while instead of the .999 I'm buying like crazy. Thanks for the tips. I learned things.
I don't stack any Barbers or any Standing Liberty's at all. I'd rather stack War Nickels & 40% Half Dollars than the coins that are almost all essentially slicks. I don't actually stack War Nickels or 40% Silver, but I do have a fair amount of it. So I'll pick it up if it's super cheap, but it's a pretty rare occasion. I do stack Mercuries as my primary Silver dime, but that's mostly because they are so beautiful and recognizable. The fact that we still have the same image on our modern dime and the Silver Rosie's makes me want to not stack those quite as much. I keep the same number of Rosie's as I do Mercs, but I keep about half of my Rosie's in what I call my "sellable Silver". That's Silver that I don't count as part of my actual Silver stack. It's comprised of Peace Dollars, '64 Kennedy's, Washington Quarters, and Roosevelt Dimes (all pre-1965). If I ever have an emergency that my savings can't cover, then those coins go straight to a buyer. In fact, I had to do that for the first time in over a decade this year in order to get a new roof & gutters on my house all of a sudden. But since I was paying $6,000 plus for my son's private school and had just spent $3,900 on my vehicle, my emergency fund was badly depleted. So I was able to sell 73 oz at spot for $1,278 to pad my account to make sure I could cover the check I was going to write. It was an awesome experience because I'd never had to sell any Silver. I still had 37.5 oz of sellable Silver left, which I didn't get rid of, so my Silver stack was 100% preserved. I went out and bought one of those reinforced treasure chests that Silver Slacker has spotlighted to keep my Constitutional Silver in. It weights like 70 or 80 pounds at this point, but I love the way it looks. You should try that. I think you'd really dig the way it looks with all of your coins. Anyway, great stuff! I loved the video, and the length was entirely fine. Not everyone has a 2 minute attention span. I can handle 20 to 40 minutes of video...no problem. Great stuff!
That one love token that u can’t figure out looks to me like a bridge at the top and waterfalls underneath like maybe a special place they met? That’s what it looks like to me
What you said about the Roosevelt being the ultimate Constitutional is absolutely true. I know the walking liberties used to be the go-to Constitutional but now if I want a pretty walker I'll buy another ASE.

I watched a video where they unboxed a monster box that had been buried in the back yard for 8 years and it kept the silver in good condition for all those years...Moral of the story-monster boxes are great for storage...
i have a mason jar of old coins which people drilled holes in. Why do people drill holes in coins?
I just started stacking and don't really plan on getting constitutional, but watched the whole video. I knew very little on the subject, now I know a bunch. Your videos are great, thanks.
If you buy some, you’ll be hooked!
I watched the entire video just to see how many times you would drop your silver on the floor. That's a great stack foundation. Those monster boxes get HEAVY pretty quick.
How many times was it? :)
Thanks for sharing, good choice! Cool box you've accumulated. So fun take out the stash every once in awhile. Thinking about the history, your mind can dream and relax.
Here is what I would do when I get 90% I can get from VG to fine instead of buying cull when you go to sell it you can get a better premium
I like cherry picking my junk silver too.
Nice man. This is a semi full-stack vid, huh? I need to up my junk silver game for sure.
Make it your base man! Make it your Death Star.
Quit buying those morbidly obese panda's and you can get some😂😂😂
@Gold Stacking I don't know what you paid. I was just making a joke with stacking stormtrooper.
@Gold Stacking they are beautiful coins for sure but I try to stay away from anything China.
Gold Stacking
here in the US, we have good reasons to maintain our anti-china opinions/sentiment!
Sweet save the Standing Liberty for me :)
Great Job. Would you ever sell your 1960 Frankin? It is my birthday year and I am looking to buy a few. Thanks,
Learned some things I didn’t know. I watched the whole video looking at my 1923 peace liberty thinking damn they made a lot of them. I love the peace liberty though. My best coin graded I have is a ms 64 Morgan
The coin shop I went to one time had a bin of barber dimes and I saw a seated liberty dime and I bought it because I never had one before.
when my taxes come in, im going to wipe out the benjis, and morgans from my lcs. lol
I watched your video 2 times great 👍 video thank you for sharing. I am totally new to collecting and I never realized how much work goes into this hobby. But your videos inspire me to keep going and finding out about different years of coins and the history that is behind it. Thank you again. Be safe 🙏
That's my kinda of stacking right there, we share the same silver soul! 🤣
Thanks for sharing with us. You have a wonderful collection.
A true Treasure Box there!!! Congrats!!! Happy 2@2@!🥳🥳🥳🥳
What is the difference in the high rim walking liberty and regular I was in a lcs yesterday and he had both for melt price 6 bucks
Hmm I’d have to see a photo showing me what you’re talking about. Also, silver at melt is a wonderful deal!
I think that love token is a picture of a bridge over two waterfalls .... Maybe that's where he proposed
I may check out another shop or two today. Hoping for a better deal. Thanks for the help.
Ha, just got my loosy-goosey junk under control. A few too many in zippy bags too. Got one funky barber dime, it has had a rough journey. Love my junk
@ 34:59 never thought of that and not gonna worry about it
Yes I stayed I’m interested in what you collect .
I watched the whole thing. I love Morgans and Mercs.
Silver dollars are overpriced
hey sperg when i got 50$ of halfs during black friday all were walkers! lucky day
that's very awesome! good job.
Thank you SpegTacular. I watched the whole thing- in three installments because I kept getting called away. That’s a great box of junk silver there! 👍
Flatten the staples in the 2X2s to prevent scratching☝️😀.
I should flatten the staples. You’re right on about that.
Watch this entire video for the second time and it’s still great!
Everyone is different, I collect Aussie pre decimal coins. But a monster box of it would not interest to me.
I have album & i trying to put together a full set.
But I guess I do that with all my coins, love making sets. It makes the whole stacking experience more enjoyable to me.
You know what works pretty good for coin stacking tubes? Grandma's empty prescription bottles.
I've seen a lot of people use those. I would have to buy some.
I stayed and enjoyed all of it. Your enthusiasm is addicting.
I literally had water come out my nose when he kept saying "3rd leg".
That one love token kinda looks to me like a bird with the beak pointed to the upper left!
Great old video spectacular 👍
I watched every second of this awesome video, it may be a year old but it had a lot of value to me :) Thanks much!
Yep
Don't like standing liberty quarters, most are to worn, slicks, hockey pucks...I like beefy Washington quarters, like Roosevelt dimes, Franklin Halves...I only buy clear/easy to read dates...
Wow! Thought I had a lot of Mercs! I got a 1990 Eagle with same tone as that Morgan
where do you recommend getting a huge box of junk silver and how much is a reasonable cost?
You’ll have to watch for the sales on different websites. Check out my others and they’ll help you see where I’ve shopped.
Thx bro
I made it through the entire video! Twice! But a week or so apart. I listen while I work. It beats the listening to the other people gab around me.
Twice?! You love silver!
Question for you iam new to stacking I go to coin guy but just starting to do junk how much should i pay for a roll of dimes
You’re probably nearly at $13 times face at the current silver prices
Awesome brother thanks for the response
I love silver too I listened and glances the whole length while I was searchin a half dollar box just got my first liberty round just because it has the walking liberty face , I have a mercury 1 oz round I like that design also it’s like a giant mercury dime.
No speg love the long videos cant get enough looking at your stack keep up the great work brother and stack on
I soooo want to search your stack for varieties! The war nickel you showed had a lamination error which makes it with more than melt. (A few dollars more) I bet you have some goodies in there. If you find a ddo or ddr in just one you could easily turn a $1 melt nickel into a $50 bill. Imagine what you could find in the 90% silver 😳
One million dollars!!!
:) maybe it's a journey for a different time.
How much you paid for that box and where you bought it?
I stayed the whole time. I decided to switch to junk silver for a while instead of the .999 I'm buying like crazy. Thanks for the tips. I learned things.
I hope you find success :) I’ve had a love for junk silver since I first laid eyes on it.
Those First Union coin wrappers take me back!
Good info! I’m also glad you enjoyed the long video!
That one love token that u can’t figure out looks to me like a bridge at the top and waterfalls underneath like maybe a special place they met? That’s what it looks like to me
The one that you said looked like a planter Is a bridge over a waterfall I think.
Yeah i dont go out of my way for %40 but i keep it as i find it, i do however stack the %50 pesos! Cant get enough of them
What you said about the Roosevelt being the ultimate Constitutional is absolutely true. I know the walking liberties used to be the go-to Constitutional but now if I want a pretty walker I'll buy another ASE.
Damn mean to say Franklin. Not enough coffee
Drink more coffee! I insist
