I bought one in black 2.4GHZ in the hopes it would work on my consolized Neo Geo MVS. It does have Sega Genesis ports. I was delighted to find out it connects, stays connected and works perfectly. I hope they make a wireless Neo Geo model someday but this is working like a charm. The included USB dongle lets it do double duty as a PC controller for Retroarch. It works fine on Retroarch on Windows 10. It was not recognized using the USB dongle on my Android TV box running Retroarch. No big deal as there are several Bluetooth controllers that I have working for that. I still need to test it on my MiSTer setup and a few SBCs. If it works on any of them I'll consider it a bonus. It works perfectly for what I bought it for so I'm very happy with it. I assume since it was actually made for the Sega Genesis it works well with it also. I don't own a Sega Genesis to test it on. Maybe this controller is the excuse I need to buy one.
small question if i get the 2.4 wireless Sega Genesis Controller and also the Sega Saturn 2.4 wireless Controller does the wireless adapter which is in Sega Genesis Controller will work with the other one? so i dont have to use 2 wireless adapter on my PC
Excellent review and loved that you tested it on the MS along with Double Dragon! I recently picked that game up myself and it's now my favorite version of the game besides the actual arcade! I got the genesis 2.4 shadow version as well as the Saturn blue one! I absolutely love them! Great video!
is the 8 button controller a darker blue than the 6 button wired controller? Also can you see the green circuit board thru it like the 6 button wired controller? The only downside of the 6 button wired controller is the blue looked more greenish and not true blue. can someone confirm if this controller hides the green circuit board in that it is a darker blue?
Hi. I'm having issues with pairing my 2.4 version. Can you explain what you did because I don't believe the instructions are correct. Great video by the way.
I literally followed the instructions. So hold down the pairing button in the dongle, once the LED starts to flash hold down the correct button on the controller, wait a few seconds and it should be paired.
Have you tried the 8bitdo m30? It is a solid controller as well. I like that this is original form factor and licensed as well as coming with both dongles.
Can it be charged with a USB wall outlet adaptor? And how long does it take to charge? I just got the controller. There was no juice in it, straight out of the box, so I'm currently charging it on a wall outlet. That is... If it's actually charging. It's been going for about an hour, and the LED is still blinking.
You should've tested some fighting games like mortal kombat and street fighter. Those games are the only reason you would really need to buy a six button controller. Nice video
The 9-pin dongle suffers from around 30ms+ extra latency compared to a wired controller. That's going on for 2 frames of lag at 60fps. The USB dongle has far less latency. (within 5ms). Retro-bit have "noted" my testing, and I've been hoping it might be rectified via firmware, but I get the feeling it might be a hardware issue due to the joypad ports just not having the same amount of ampage available to them as USB.... I really don't recommend them for use on an MD/Genesis. Saturn one is just as bad.
Good to know. Have you tested the 2,4ghz 8bitdo Genesis controllers? Is it the same amount of latency? I have those and it feels very good, and I'm very sensitive regarding latency. I wanted to buy the retrobit ones as well but if it is that bad I will pass.
@@arovane44 The 8bitdo ones did not exhibit the same amount of lag, no. The good news is Retro-bit actually *did* fix the Saturn and MD dongles, and now are far more inline with the USB one.
I haven't used the 8BitDo controller so I can't say. I will say if I ever have issues Retro-Bit ALWAYS responds to emails, where I have given up on getting responses from 8bitdo.
@@RoXolid Dude, I just sold my Genesis Controller with the 8bitdo dongle and the guy who bought it told me the buttons are reversed. Do you know how to fix that?
Got both the 2.4ghz and bluetooth versions yesterday. The 2.4ghz is working great with the Mega Drive Mini although it required a reboot due to get the buttons mapped properly. I only got the Bluetooth version due to being £10 and can use it with my Batocera/Emuelec. I think the 2.4ghz was overpriced at £28 especially as I have no use of the original Sega adapter and the controllers look and operate very similar. They should have sold it with each adaptor in its own set for less.
How did they play on the mini? I have 2 ordered and have the mini and the original console and will be using them with both. Just curious as to how they work? Any problems?
I just recently got Double Dragon for Master System. I don't own a Master System, but I do have the Mega SG and it came with an adapter for Master System games. And yes, it is brutal compared to the NES but still a fun game.
Honestly, I would just get the Retro-Bit Sega Saturn 2.4ghz wireless controller over the Genesis one. With my Sega Saturn one it came with two dongles and works with all Sega games and seems a little better on the quality end of things
@@skathappenz what part of the reason for that is the fact that I don't have to worry about managing battery life if I'm going back and forth between consoles. And I will say quite honestly I really like the six button Genesis controller

It says "I love retro" in Japanese. The clear blue looks gorgeous and so does the included case.

Thanks so much, yes, Double Dragon on the Master System is amazing!
I understand this does work with the Atari 2600. Which means... It should also work with the 7800, 8-bit computer, and the Commodore 64...
Theoretically, yes. I just don't have any Atari Systems to test it out on.

They are pretty much the same color.
Mine keeps pausing the game when i press the c button which is super annoying. Plus retrobit customerservice won't help me so I'm just stuck with it.

Did you tested this 2.4 GHz version also on the switch and Nivdia Shield?
Yup, worked fine

Same here! tried updating the firmware, following the instructions to the letter and nothing works :(
Great video! You should consider doing a video/livestream testing the retro-bit Saturn controller with with a hyperkin hdmi Saturn cable.
Livestreams is a bit tough right now with an 8 month old, but I will be filming the Wireless Saturn Controller review next week
@Roxlolid Productions I didn't know you had a 8 month old, Good luck!

I have not.
I have both and the m30 just feels cheap compared to the Retro bit
These are so cool. I have a few of the wired ones, wish they came in more colours :)
I get that, but what colors to produce and what quantities? By limiting colors it reduces and simplifies sku count
Does it work good with the Retro-bit Retro-cade or would you recommend the Hyperkin wireless SNES controller?
I wonder if they work on the commodore 64?🤷♂️

Works flawlessly on sf2 and mk
Question: Can I play using the cable, just like a wired controller? Or is it used ONLY to charge?
I think you can use it wired but I've not tried
Does this work with super retro-cade?
Does this controller also work with the polymega console

Decently. About the same as the Genesis ones.
