Hi M..as someone on a low budget I do eat canned fish (mainly wild pink salmon or sardines and anchovies) I think the ones in tomato sauce is best avoided though as acidic food..citric acid etc can corrode metals into the food. As long as the can is not damaged..I think it should be OK sometimes. Also..frozen wild salmon is very good and more budget friendly too.
We were raised with very little, almost poverty level. We couldn’t afford fast food, so my mom feed us mostly home cooked meals with fresh poultry (we raised our own chickens). It was a rare occasion to eat a burger and fries. I’m grateful now that she taught us to cook at home because now I mostly prepare all our meals. Thanks for the encouragement! I try to practice an IF routine to help with cravings, and snacking.
Plant based 15 years, no oil, eggs or fish though! You are the picture of good health and obviously are making the right choices for you! Nice video! Thank you!
I grew up this way as well on a dairy farm. Food was nutritious none of us were overweight as we worked on farm. Through the years now my diet has suffered terribly from working late on nursing floor for 40 yrs. Now am making better choices. Great video thank you
I just found your channel today. I too eat pretty much the same as you but I don't eat eggs. I like your minimalist way of living and am choosing to live more that way. I just moved out of my home that I had lived in for 34 years and boy the stuff I had collected throughout my life. Kind of sickening. I thought wow if only I had saved that money instead of wasting it on stuff things would be incredibly different. I realized over the covid years that I could live on way less and I was totally fine with it. I am in a new chapter of my life and looking to new adventures that don't require a lot of money.
I am grateful and appreciate your message. I’m new to intermittent fasting, January of this year. I’m learning the science behind it and am definitely seeing positive results.Thank you for sharing your story.
Wonderful video! I was doing intermittent fasting for a few months and kind of fell off and have been eating some of the processed food that is so horrible for my health. I don’t eat meat or dairy though. I did so well with my weight loss when I just stuck to my whole food plant based choices. Thanks for the incentive to get back on track!🥰
I love your videos. I eat breakfast around 10am but only coffee and a salad. I do add crutons, turkey or boiled eggs. I would like to try not eating until 11am. Do you drink coffee before 11am? I can skip the salad but I feel I need something like tea or coffee. After 10am I eat lunch at 2:45p. Maybe a snack at 7pm. Sparkling water has helped me to not crave soda. I started by mixing it with Sprite and now I only drink sparkling water with different flavors.
Hello Connie I really appreciate you sharing your videos on RUclips. It’s really been an eye opener for me. I always wanted to know how live a simple and meaningful life but didn’t know how and where to start from. May The Almighty bless you and your family for your selfless gesture. Loads of love your way.
I need to make a life change and the topic of intermittent fasting keeps coming up. Thanks for sharing your experiencee. You have planted another seed for me.
I love your videos, they are so calming. I am 54, post meno and WISH intermittent would work for me like it has for you! I am being tested for some other health issues to see what could be the problem. I eat nutrient dense organic food because I do want to live a long time. But it's so frustrating to not be able to lose any weight no matter what I do.
Weight is an issue I have found that if I get on my bike every day it seems to help. I also follow Melissa Neil on RUclips. Avoiding processed foods is key though and I avoid shop bought bread and make my own soda bread (see Fairyland cottage on youtube) as it doesn't leave me bloated. I cook from scratch and find as soon as I ate like that my weight stabilised more. In times of stress I still reach for chocolate but have tried to choose healthier options (see Pick up Limes on youtube) to avoid weight gain. Cutting out dairy I substitute my breakfast yogurt for coconut with a little maple syrup. I also use oat milk . In the end we cant beat ourselves up we should give ourselves a break and support each other 💜
Hi Suzanne. I lost 3 stone wen intermittent fasting..A 16 8 usually but also cut out all the inflammatory foods. (These are gluten grains, A1 dairy, sugar, seed oils..minimal caffeine and alcohol). It is harder to lose weight as we age..but a few longer fasts..building up slowly..of course..May also help. Good luck with it all.
I would love your Salmon recipe please. I eat whole foods way of eating and no dairy, gluten, soy or sugar. For almost 20 years. My health has changed within weeks of finding what was best for me and I still maintain (for the most part) that way of life. Your salmon dinner looked amazing. I am looking for something that my husband would enjoy. He says we could do with out fish 🙂 Thanks.
All your videos, dear Connie, are so clear and soothing for the nervous system! I am always happy to see a new inspiring video of you, which seems like a little relaxation sequence to me! Keep it up! I can also highly recommend intermittent fasting and have been practicing it for over 2 years. However, you also have to be careful about what foods you eat in the 8 hours! You described this very well in your video! Greetings from Germany, Britta
I found your channel and I love it, thanks for all the information. I do not eat red meat or poultry and do not drink milk or eat any dairy products and also as you do interminent fasting..
My kids have all fluctuated in their eating preferences over the years. When my son (27) what in his teens he would "sneak" fast food and he has always eaten meat. My older daughter (23) eats much like I do only she doesn't eat gluten. My youngest (17) daughter has grown up eating like me but the year she gravitates to more "junk" food. My husband eats like me but loves a good steak.
I love your channel! Thank you for these kinds of food-centered videos. Can I ask if you have trouble getting enough fiber eating this way, or if you take a fiber supplement for healthy digestion? I eat grains and beans twice a day for fiber, although I feel much more bloated than I ever did pre-menopause (I'm 54). I'd love to try your method but this is a concern for me.
You have a very soft and inviting voice. I like your approach to a healthy clean way of eating. You are taking care of yourself and that is the most important. You look great and sound happy enjoying your life
My diet is very similar to yours as well as IF...16/8. I'm wondering if you would share your pretty, natural make-up routine. Just love your natural 'no-makeup' look! Thanks!
I loved this video and I follow pretty much the same diet as you (no eggs). In March 2019 (beginning of pandemic), I made the switch to plant based. 6 months later I reintroduced fish as I felt the negative effects of not consuming the omegas. I thrive on this diet and wish I had done this sooner. I feel so healthy and strong. Thank you for this :)
Thanks for sharing this video. I always enjoy your channel very much! I am like you, in that I too avoid fast food, fried food, and a lot of overly processed food, and I stick with real foods. However, I still buy granola, some bars (like Perfect Bars and Lara Bars) that are all real food. I am curious, do you snack at all, or just wait for meals? Also, do you eat any dried fruit, or avoid because of the sugar content? Thanks!!
This video is the first one I watched about IF. It is so good. Thank you. I know from another video that you have coffee before your breakfast at 11. Also that you like cream and honey in it. What time do you have your coffee? Thank you.
Love how you take care of yourself !!! Muslims fast 29 or 30 days in Ramadan which is an obligation upon every healthy adult. Mon and Thurs many muslims fast for extra reward and to emulate the final prophet Muhammad. Its an extremely healthy way to live .

Discussing one’s own diet is like discussing politics and religion-super individual and intuitive. I’m glad you’ve found a way that works for you. I think this is my first comment on any of your videos. I really enjoy them! And it’s funny because for a long time I thought you looked and sounded just like an actress I’d seen-turns out, you’re her! Glad you’re making content and sharing your beautiful lifestyle.
Hey Tawny! Yep, it's me (the actor). I completely agree, talking about eating is just like talking about religion or politics. Thanks for sharing your way of eating and healthy lifestyle. I have a couple of questions: Have you always been thin like you are now? I know you said you lost some weight but you probably weren’t really heavy before that either…? Do you ever eat deserts? If so what do you eat and have you basically cut out sugar (except natural sugars found in food)? Thank you!
@@noib209 yes I saw that as you mentioned it for a snack. Just wondered if there are any other deserts you allow yourself to eat? Or have you basically cut out sugar?
Hi Sher, wonderful questions!! Yes, I have pretty much eaten this way (except intermitting fasting since 2021) my entire life. Because I was not raised with fast food or processed foods I never gravitated to it. In my early 20's if I ate fast food or paged foods it was a "treat" not an everyday thing. The older I got and more educated on foods I was, I have gradually refined my diet. You are correct. I have been slender most of my life. The 20 lbs I lost was gained due to my car accident and being immobile. Yes, I eat desserts (sometimes not daily). I'm a total sucker for a yummy baked good!!! I also eat dark chocolate. I use raw sugar in baking, and put honey in coffee. I don't eat condiments like salad dressing and such, which have a lot of refined sugar. I don't feel the need to restrict myself. If I want a cookie I just baked, I'll eat it. Thanks for being curious!
Thank you for that. My daughter does intermittent fasting with Keto meals. I'm a pechetarian (I think that's how it's spelled) and avoid dairy as much as possible - no meat of any kind. She's tried to encourage me to do intermittent fasting but I think I already do! I hardly ever eat breakfast before 11 and my main meal at around 5 or 6. However, if I don't top up with an extra something before bedtime, my hunger would wake me up! So, my question is: what are your sleeping hours? I'm a bit of a night owl and mornings come slowly... I'm 77 by the way and slightly chubby. Trying to get ready for beachwear...
Hi Maria, I love sleep! I sleep a lot because of my brain injury, between 9:30 pm - 6:30 am (sometimes more). I try to sleep as long as my body needs to feel rested.
I love your videos and how calm you make me feel. I do IF too, but haven't been consistent and just started last week again. Your way of life and habits are awesome. I've cut down on red meat and pork because I've noticed I no longer digest them well. I could eat fish every day and love salmon.
I had auto accident Oct 2020 as well! October 1st actually. Got a concussion. Took 4 months to get back to work. I was at my prime before that accident. Since I've lost my mom and brother and 2 other family members. I look forward to feeling similar to before the accident and loss. Reminds me about low carb and fasting that was working for me
Hi Connie is their a particular type of salmon you buy can I please ask if it’s better to eat by 7 pm or is this your personal preference thank you so much
Does your family eat as you do ?! No other meats or just salmon. ?! You seems so happy with your life I don’t see how anyone could knock it Minimal and eating clean. Mmmm I only wish I had that till power. Congrats Connie 👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰
Hi! I am a recent subscriber to your channel & I love your content! I am a fellow minimalist so I stumbled upon your content & I love it! I am currently binge watching. Thanks so much for sharing. I do have a random question, where did you get your white beaded bracelet? My beaded bracelet recently broke & I am looking to replace it. 😊
I eat a whole plant food/vegan and it has helped me with energy and health. I have trouble with nuts but eat flax on my salads. I would be interested in your chia pudding recipe. I would like to add that to my diet.
New subcriber here!!! I love your content. Would you please make more videos about Intermittent Fasting like what you eat in a day, a week, breakfast for the whole week, lunch & or dinner. Recipes or menu for IF. Do you snack in between? What do you eat during fasting period? 🤔 I'm a newbie on this journey. Can you please touch on this topic more. Thank you. I appreciate and love your simplicity and mindful living. I'm getting most of my inspiration to you. Thank you Connie 😊 🤗 💓

Always such great information!!! I am going to start intermediate fasting and a more healthy diet! You are a fine example of the benefits 😏 Have a wonderful day!!!
With some digestive and medical issues, I have committed to cooking from scratch and going gluten and dairy free. It has helped so much. Luckily I had a grandmother who lived with us who also cooked from scratch so having the role model has made all the difference. So many think that cooking is complicated. The best food is simple food and with some herbs and spices, it is as flavorful, if not more so than a restaurant. I have tried IF but so far have not seen benefits although all my doctors taught its benefit. Thanks for all your content. (BTW, where did you get that necklace? Beautiful!)
Wonderful that you are finding diets that are working with your body. I agree, cooking simple meals is the best! Thanks! I bought the necklace in Costa Rica from a beach merchant.
I did intermittent fasting for a week and I ended up at the end of the week I started binge eating for about a week. I am trying to rope the binge eating in. I want to try the fasting again with the 16/8 same as you. Did this happen to you when you started out with fasting? I will try introducing it slowly like you talk about.
This is my ideal. I find it challenging with a family though. My husband loves meats and my kids eat in a picky manner, so processed foods fill in calories for them. Curious about your thoughts on pleasing the whole family with your fresh food/pescaterian leanings?
Hey Laurel, Great question! Families and kids can be a bit tricky when introducing new meal ideas. I haven't ever had many processed foods in the house, so my kids never complained. I went pescatarian 16 years ago. My husband and two younger daughter's didn't mind the change. My then 11 year-old son struggled with the change. During my son's teen years, I cooked the family meal. He could choose to eat it or make himself something different. I did buy him frozen chicken, lunch meat, hot dogs, beef, etc. I never wanted him to feel like I was forcing him to eat the way I did. My husband likes meat but not enough to make another dinner. If he is really wanting a steak or chicken, I will include it in his meal. The main thing I tried to instill with my family is health. Making food choices to be healthy and feel your best. happiness & peace, Connie
I just started watching your videos and I’m so inspired by your healthy life choices. I haven’t been making to the next food choices by now I will start :)
Hi Connie! 👋 I just found you a few weeks ago and I love love love your videos! I watch one in the morning with my celery juice and it puts me in such a good place. I saw that you used to live in Cornelius so I was excited that you are local, as I am in North Charlotte, near Huntersville. But then I saw you moved! 😢 ha ha but I am sure it is exciting for you and your family to be in the beautiful west where you grew up. Anyway… I do have a question… What else do you eat for dinners besides salmon? Since you don’t eat the other meats. I am just looking for healthy alternatives and get tired of just veggies and fruit all the time. Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated. I look forward to following you and your journey. 🙏♥️
Thank you for this video! I do intermittent fasting also. I try to stop eating after 7 but sometimes I go over 😀how much water do you drink while intermittent fasting that’s what I’m having a little trouble with?
Hi Connie:) Your videos are just wonderful. Thank you for sharing! I’m curious if you still enjoy your coffee with honey and cream? Thanks again and enjoy your day:)
Hi Connie. Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering if you drink coffee before 11 am? I would like to try intermittent fasting, but I don't know how I would do without my morning cup of coffee! :)
@@ConnieRiet I just ordered some MCT oil...I had never heard of it before. I appreciate the recommendation. I am new at intermittent fasting, but I wanted to give it a try mostly just to be a healthier person. I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and I heard that intermittent fasting (along with healthy eating) was a way to reduce inflammation in the body. Thanks for sharing your experience with me!!:)
New subbie here from the UK. I came across your recent video about your minimalist journey and thoroughly enjoyed it. I am all about the 'simple life'. Your food looks delicious ! I shall now be binge watching your videos ! Best wishes from across the pond !
Intermittent fasting doesn’t always work well for women who are premenopausal due to hormonal effects but I highly recommend it for women in menopause! (From a Holistic Nutritionist)
Was looking for a link to see what you charge for your coaching. Also you mentioned you only eat fish couple times a month? Did you mean to say weekly?

Diets are as unique as each individual. Honor yourself by eating in way that makes you feel your best.
What are your thoughts on canned fish as a healthy cheaper alternative to Fresh Fish in this climates High inflation?
Hi M..as someone on a low budget I do eat canned fish (mainly wild pink salmon or sardines and anchovies) I think the ones in tomato sauce is best avoided though as acidic food..citric acid etc can corrode metals into the food. I love your videos and how calm you make me feel. I do IF too, but haven't been consistent and just started last week again. Your way of life and habits are awesome. I've cut down on red meat and pork because I've noticed I no longer digest them well. I could eat fish every day and love salmon.
I'm so glad you enjoy the videos! Thanks for watching
I grew up similarly with my family/it was a blessing
Always feel inspired and blessed by your lovely work. Thank you!
Your Brunch items looked delicious. Do you make your own bread & tortillas?
Id love it if you could share more recipes/how you put it together as I've enjoyed them when you have. Very inspiring.
And a healthy pudding one!
Great idea! I'll be sure to make some.
You bet!
,I love your energy
💗
I had auto accident Oct 2020 as well! October 1st actually. Got a concussion. Took 4 months to get back to work. I was at my prime before that accident. Since I've lost my mom and brother and 2 other family members. I look forward to feeling similar to before the accident and loss. Reminds me about low carb and fasting that was working for me
That's crazy!! I'm glad you have healed from your car accident.
The ad before watching was mc d
Great video, Connie
Was it really?! Oh Boy. Unfortunately, I don't control the ads, but how ironic. 😜
Hi Connie is their a particular type of salmon you buy can I please ask if it’s better to eat by 7 pm or is this your personal preference thank you so much
Thank you🙏
I love your videos, thank you!
Does your family eat as you do ?! No other meats or just salmon. ?! You seems so happy with your life I don’t see how anyone could knock it
Minimal and eating clean.
Subscribed and really enjoyed your video. Thank you
I eat a whole plant food/vegan and it has helped me with energy and health.
Thanks for the video ideas!

Always such great information!!! I am going to start intermediate fasting and a more healthy diet! You are a fine example of the benefits 😏 Have a wonderful day!!!
Hi Connie, thank you for this video I hope in the future you'll do more of kind of what I eat in a day or updates! Love it thank you
Will do!!
Such a informative and heart warming presentation. Thank you. 🥰
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you. Great advise. Intermittent fasting has work amazingly for my husband but not so much for myself. I'm still giving it a try.
I like this diet
Simple but tasty
Thanks a lot Connie for the very informative tips. It was very helpful as i also do intermittent fasting. ❤
Hi Conny I lake to change everything in my life your videos are very helpful for me.. I want to change my closet I see you look very fresh and cane's
Thank you, Blanca!
Good advice Connie ❤️
Thanks for sharing this video. It’s so helpful and full of good info. Love it. Thanks :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this video! I do intermittent fasting also. I try to stop eating after 7 but sometimes I go over 😀how much water do you drink while intermittent fasting that’s what I’m having a little trouble with?
I'm not sure. I'm usually sipping on water all day.
Hi Connie:) Your videos are just wonderful. Thank you for sharing! I’m curious if you still enjoy your coffee with honey and cream? Thanks again and enjoy your day:)
What meats or proteins do you eat?
She said she doesn’t eat poultry or red meat but eats fish (mainly salmon) a couple of times a week (I believe).
Yes, all are correct. I don't eat poultry, beef or pork. I do eat fish about once a week, and nuts, beans, legumes, goat cheese.
Do you drink tea, coffee, water in the morning fasted ? And do you drink it plain?
Great question. I drink water and coffee with MTC oil and honey. If I feel hungry, I drink hot lemon water.
Hi Connie. Very interesting. I may try intermittent fasting on days when I don’t have to drive early in the am. Do you have water or tea before 11?
You look very healthy! I’m curious about your choice to eat the occasional fish but not land or air animals. I am in no way Judi g. Just curious.
Great video 😊💖
Love you....from India 💜
Hi Connie. Thanks for sharing this. I was wondering if you drink coffee before 11 am? I would like to try intermittent fasting, but I don't know how I would do without my morning cup of coffee! :)
Hi Kelly! I feel the same about my coffee. I drink coffee in the morning with MCT oil, honey and cream. The MCT helps to keep off hunger.
Thanks for subbing! I'm so glad you are part of our mindful community.

Intermittent fasting doesn’t always work well for women who are premenopausal due to hormonal effects but I highly recommend it for women in menopause! (From a Holistic Nutritionist)
Thanks for your input!
Was looking for a link to see what you charge for your coaching. Also you mentioned you only eat fish couple times a month? Did you mean to say weekly?
I wondered the same about weekly
Hi Suzanne, You can find my coaching information on my website www.connieriet.com. I eat fish a few times a month.
Thanks for the questions!
I eat fish a few times a month.
