To add a funny line: Jürgen Sparwasser once said, that if on his gravestone is written "Hamburg, 1974" everyone will know, who would be buried here. 😀 They also came close to qualify for Euro 1976 and World Cup 1978. They could and should have performed better.
As I write this in February 2025, roughly halfway through the 2. Bundesliga season, Magdeburg is a promotion contender.. That would be something if they went up.
