I've been reluctant to return to watching these videos, because every time they are unsuccessful at hatching little ones, it hurts my soul. And it seems to get harder every time. However, for some reason, with all the wildfires in California, it suddenly dawned on me....."OMG, I hope that hasn't effected my eagles!" So I quickly clicked on the live feeds and was very glad to see they appear to be unaffected. I also see they haven't yet laid any eggs. It might be early for that. When would that be happening?
Hi Jeremy, yes, we are so grateful that Jackie and Shadow have been unaffected by the fires! January is typically Jackie's favorite month to lay eggs-- last year, she laid eggs on January 25th! But each season is different. She has also laid eggs as late as April.
The thing about these Eagles is that after you have watched them for a while you can tell who the male is by his and her behavior. I would like to know if there are physical differences between them so you can tell right away. Just by looking at them. These eagles always look like they are wearing trousers. Because of the way their feathers grow on their legs.
