The South Ward isn't just the center but everything for some of us who grew up there. And the upside down traffic sign at the bottom of a signpost with ropes on it was hilarious and on point. Plus the Pastrami sandwich looked yummy; pastrami sandwiches, pizza, food from a Chinese restaurant, and hot dogs were the 4 major food groups when I was little
Just your opening (Halsey & Cedar) brings back SO many memories. Halsey was the place for boots & sneaks, the 🌭 spot down on the corner (Raymond). Best Blimpie’s back in the day. Then head towards Broad to snag hats/gloves from the street vendors. Thx for the memory jog of home Matt. #201Life!
And if your really from newark your mom or your pops took you to stride rite to get your first pair of shoes when you first started walking 😂 them high top round toe hard bottems! Everybody had a pair! I took all my kids there to get thier first pair
I grew up in the Oranges, so definitely my neck of the woods. I've never been to Queen Pizza, will definitely give it a try; Star Tavern has been around forever. ✌️
That looks really good. That style of pizza used to be all around NJ but I feel a lot of places don't make this style as good anymore. I'm definitely going to try it. Hopefully I can door dash it to Kearny its not far.
Queen‘s Pizza was one of the first spots that my mom used to take me to back in the early 90s when it used to be down the street from where it is at now. Pizza is good but only when you eat it there once you get home and the best way to eat, it is at home is in the toaster oven or in the oven no microwave cause it’s worse
Queen Pizza is a legendary pizza spot in the Downtown section of Newark. It's been at that same spot on Halsey since I was a little child. Everything on Halsey changed, but I'm glad to see this food review and see the good old fashioned Queen Pizza still up and running in 2025🍕
@ I’m in the same streets as you 4 days a week on my way to work. I’m sure we’ll cross paths soon. Have you tried the pizza at crown fried chicken? It’s actually so fire lol
@ market & Washington: 254 Washington St, Newark, NJ 07102 I had the plain slice yesterday and damn it hit different. Was there for the chicken but stayed for the pizza 🍕
You know I had to check this video out to remind me of what I'm missing out on in my sacrifice in living here in Hawaii. There's just no place in this country that does pizza like back home in Jersey.
D 2 da Veezy! Yuss! You gotta let em' know ! THAT'S what a Jerzey pizza looks like 🔥 smelling ALL buttery & cheesey ! No microwave 👎 strictly oven reheating steelo !
Pizza in the microwave? I think the best way to reheat pizza 🍕 is the conventional oven 350° for about 9-10min. You want it to taste just like it came straight out the oven from the pizzeria crispy crust peace ✌🏽 Matt
Matt ... Too floppy. 3:33 & 6:33 Its gotta be crispy enough that you can fold it in half the long way and eat it while you're walking without it dripping oil on your pants. What? No hot pepper? You're always putting hot sauce ion everything. Hot pepper is the hot stuff for pizza. Why no hot pepper? Right! No microwaved pizza. 4:41 But you don't have to heat up the whole oven either. Get a toaster-oven.
Joe&Pats, Lee’s Tavern, Deninos, Brothers (Sicilian), Giusseppes and the list goes on.. You can make a whole weeks content just with the different types of pizza we have.
There is no absolutely no good, and I mean NO good pizza in Newark. The closest spot near our area that has spectacular pizza would be Amore in Nutley. Two brothers in Belleville has surprisingly good pizza and Ralph’s in Nutley has good pizza and you should ask for them well done. I’m a pizza snob and even thought about doing a pizza channel but still debating it.
Hey Matt. Yeah It looks good. But I just be so skeptical. Cause Whenever someone says they have good pizza… cause I’m old-school and I know what good pizza taste like. I haven’t found none in a while… mainly when I go to the Italian spots, it’s much better when you see all Italians in the kitchen.. but nowadays, you got a lot of Latinos making pizza and to me it’s not the same.. It’s like the Italian have a special touch to how they make their pizza with love and culture… that’s just my opinion..💯🤷🏽♂️💪🏽
None nutley has the best pizza.. you need to go to Italians to get a good pizza. For example why would I go to a Chinese restaurant for oxtails. When you know for a better oxtails you would go to a soul food restaurant. Plus it's just a plain pizza. I don't know if you can judge from just a plain pizza.
Hi James. This is Queen. Are they not Italian owned and operated? And ok I will add yours. Also, I figure if you can't make a Good Chees pizza, the buck stops there's. What should I get at your suggestion in Nutley? I may pay them a visit before I start my adventure. Thanks my friend. OH and where is NONE Pizza?

Yes indeed.

The Queen Pizza off of Broad Street was my go to spot for 15 years. It was always solid.
Are they still there?
@@MattDV Yes, they are, I just no longer work in that area.
Facts Matt...I always reheat pizza in the oven!!!!!!
the best way.
There are two other Queen pizza, one on Broad near City Hall and the one on Commerce Street, which is the one I prefer.
Yes, I hear people saying the one one commerce is decent. I have to check the out.
@MattDV Yup. I go there all the time.
Now that’s what you call a solid pie 👍
yes indeed.
Matt that pie look real good. Here in AZ, after 20 years I finally found a good pizza spot.
thank you, Debra, and CONGRATS. Where are the owners of your pizza spot from?
Good afternoon Matt. I haven't been here in a long time. When I was a teenager, I had to get a slice while downtown.
Hi Preston thanks for the comment.
@MattDV You're welcome 😊

Yes, thats def from our era. 🙂
For good pizza in Essex County go to Bloomfield, Belleville, Nutley and Orange.
Thank you I will visit Nutley next.
You left the crust? Thats the best part!
Oh, you like the crust huh? Me too.
Patsy's pizza shop in Harlem. Much success 🙌 God bless 🙏

Thanks for the comment @tremason8413. The onions would have been nice.

@@marty-mar29 How about fried SPAM?
@MattDV Well, we have a whole lot of that and in different ways of eating it.

Sprinkle a slight bit of water into the pan too. It'll create steam to help the pizza retain the right amount of moisture.
Matt, the Ironbound has the best pizzerias in Newark..... nice video Matt DV.

👄 Heyy Matt back in the cold 🌬 I hope you got my Keychain🙏🏽😜 Queens 👑 Pizzeria🍕 is LEGENDARY 😊
Queen Pizza🍕🍕 is the best as far as the Newark downtown district goes. Hey did stop by "Two Guys" lol you're in Barringer HS terror-tory now 😁
Yessir, @nicholasvanorton7840 I had to close out with that. thanks for staying tuned my friend.
It’s Matt DV ❤.
Best pizza ever: Rocco's Pizza in Avenel.. especially the Grandma pizza.
Also, I don't need a slice/pie wit toppings. A cheese slice/pie is all I need to have great enjoyment!
Looks like a 7.4... An air fryer on medium low is a good way to reheat
Thanks @DHAWK888
Whatever kind it is you will probably devour and enjoy it 😅😂🙏🏽
hi Joan. yea I can eat with almost any topping.
Love from Jersey
