75 years gone by..since 1947 ..elders become small..and small has become Anchor..yeh hai Aaj ka jugg to be listened again oldy songs of the past era goldy film as the present one songs not much meaning and meaningless..only the Vivid Bharati All India Radio has well maintained all the Library of old songs unforgettable and played on regular intervals of Dev Anand interview which of course enjoyed not only by young generations now but still the oldy goldy still striving to live with oldy songs .Jyan toh jhan kahan. sumjeghaa kaun jahan dard bhare dil.ke jawan.... Dev Anand was very lovely person .he spent his life at working and in acting many times .time came and went away but Devanand kept on standing in a stable place.there is a little person who tries to work in his life for a long time .because he has no energy , stemina, and manual power to do so like Dev anand due to over aged about 88 years.if he had alive today ,he would have directed a Pakistani film at any cost..dp Raahi
It is said that one should not talk ill of the departed but i must say that Dev Anand was a mediocre director whose energy did not match the talent. Most of the movies he directed in his later years were, to put it mildly, "trash".
Sridhar Kaushik no one remembers Dev Saab by his directorial ventures he s Dev Anand the legend as a superstar as an actor who was an icon of the country for nearly three decades n regarding his direction everybody discounts him his last 33 years of life from 1978-2011 as he lived that period in his own world so every fan graciously grants him that retired period of his film direction to him but even then he continued to inspire the world as a never tiring human being with his Philosophies that he lived.... RIP the legend The Dev Anand Saab
This interview got on my nerves for several reasons. First and foremost, Dev Anand kept interrupting and never allowed the host to complete a question. He also gave very lengthy answers. He spoke too quickly and too much. But above all the man's misunderstanding about his own worth and ''talent'' and his unfounded ego with regards to his acting and his ''handsome'' personality is laughable, if not worse. This man's best films were those where the music and the songs were memorable, such as ''jaen to jaen kahan''. His first film ''Ziddi'' was one where he came across as really handsome, and this is before he had 'discovered' his own brand-mark mannerisms, and started acting stupid. In Ziddi, lata sang the immortal '' chanda re, ja re jare''. A couple of his films like C.I.D. and Taxi Driver managed to create an atmosphere for which people of my generation feel nostalgia. His film Tamasha with Meena Kumari and Kishore Kumar came across as a light-hearted and fast moving comedy, which he never bettered afterwards. He had a fast moving mind, but he should have been told to stop and listen to others when being interviewed. Anyway, the era when his most popular films were being made is nostalgic because of lots of other mediocre black and white films too from those times, and the reason? Good Urdu dialogues, some beautiful sweet songs, and some beautiful actresses who are mostly no more. As for films made in Bombay then and Mumbai now, Bollywood never experimented with realism in a serious way. If we did not have directors like Bimal Roy, Kedar Sharma, Mehboob Khan, and actors like Ashok Kumar, Dilip Kumar and Balraj Sahini, and actresses like Suraiya, Nutan, Nargis, Geeta Bali and Madhubala, we old timers would not be scrolling RUclips to hark back to an era that gave us so much pleasure. But here is a word also for all the so-called side actors, and actresses, those very talented people in minor roles who gave so much of their talent to a create a make-believe world for all of us to escape into.
Anzay Warid you don't know the magic that Dev Anand had...he is the greatest Bollywood personality of his times...films like tere mere sapne....jewel thief...Guide make him a collossus...show some respect
Anzay or whatever....Dev Anand is a Legend and people will always remember him for his great works....it's a shame people like you even exist who don't even have the courtesy to show respect to someone who is not there...but you know Dev Saab is immortal and eternal....people will not even remember you once u are gone including the ones you think your own. Aukaat mein rehkar baat karni chahiye
what a nonsense lengthy comment who the hell you are who gave you right to write all this bullshit about a legend you not a film critic. no one can match Dev Anand even i am too young and i still a big fan of him still get entertain with his movies .go get some life talking about black and white era you dumb ass show some respect for a legend or delete you nonsense or otherwise you will keep getting bashing time to time.

As long as Vijay Anand directed, your films were good. After he branched out, both did not sustain the quality audience knew about

Anzay Warid Dev Anand doesn't need your approval to be called a cinematic genius. Keep your ass out.
Anzay Warid And if you've so much problem, tell the Indian govt to withdraw his Dadasaheb Phalke Award. But it ain't in your Aukaat.
A beautiful interview and flawless and fascinating. I love you Dev Sahib and miss you.
