I notice something, I make sure when it's cold outside,(SNOW ON THE GROUND) I make sure, I got more than a quarter of a tank of gas in my 1999 BMW-740iL. I NEVER LET THE LIGHT TURN ON. BEST WISHES IN 2019.
like stated below by mustbemont you have a massive vaccume leak or your maf is bad, but seeing as these rarely go out(unless dropped or damaged) you must have a leak. buy a can or two of carb cleaner or starting fluid, then while the car is running and the maf is disconnected, spray all the places where air could be drawn into the enginie (i.e. the manifold gaskets) if the car idles up at all that is where the leak is.
Here are a few things to check. 1 idle solonoid-follow the smaller tube on your MAS boot to the "T-Shaped Idel Regulating Valve" this is the source of you wows. Reconnect your MAS and disconnect the T-Valve idle and replace. 2- only if it is smoking along with a lack of power replace the rear intake manifold cover (expensive PCV vale) Good luck and I am on BimmerBoard or BimmerFourms as YNV
i know this may sound stupid but i belive the only stupid questions are the ones that were never asked, Make sure especialy if you just put on a pod filter or removed the tubing: ask your self this: IS MY MAF SENSOR AROUND THE RIGHT WAY!!!!! ?????

Easy mate first clean your airflow meter and then if you stil get the the same shit just replace the airflow meter its a common issue.
It's obviously a fckedup maf sensor
Don't take off fast !
Vaccume leaak
Maybe the oxygen sensors are bad.
