- We had a wonderful day walking through Aarhus. Such a wonderful city with great food, museums, and wonderful weather over fall break.
Just been into Memphis Roadhouse, had a great chat with the owner and the food was unbelievable.
We're new in Denmark and appreciate the channel and recommendations for anything in Aarhus (especially good BBQ!)
❤️
That is awesome, the food is fantastic! We were in Aarhus briefly during our summer holiday and of course got some BBQ :). Thanks for watching!
You are a fantastic ambassador for Denmark. Come and visit Silkeborg 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Thank you for saying that. We will definitely get out there. The list is growing, but I think we will be covering all corners in DK now that we've started this channel!
@@TravelinYoung
looking forward to following your journey around Denmark
@@allenculpepper9553 hjuldamper, the Danish “mountain” 😂
Tak for videoen.
Ahh finally a great video showing my hometown Aarhus.
There's more to Denmark than Copenhagen so its nice to see you enjoyed your time in Aarhus.
Agreed, glad you enjoyed! We love Aarhus, we also went at Christmas, check that video out if you haven't seen it yet!
@@TravelinYoung uhh I'm intrigued
I'll go and see that vid
I’ve seen more of your videos now - LOVING it 🇩🇰❤️ Live in Århus and you present my town very well
@@Piachristiansen Awesome, glad you enjoy!
love the music.
Omg, it’s so weird seing how my home town has changed so much just since I moved in 2010. But then again some things were totally the same... 😄 Thanks for portraying it so well. 🥰
(Btw - I used to live halfway between Den gamle by and Aros. I could see both of them from my window, so this video litterally hit home for me. 😂)
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video! Thank you for your honest viewpoints re our city and society - they are always refreshing!
Awesome, glad to share! Thanks for watching!
There are so many beautifull places all over the world, Thank you for showing some of the ones in Denmark!
Next time im Aarhus please go see MOMU! And take a trip around the forrest. Maybe go camping!
We actually did go to Momu! It's in our Christmas in Århus video. We absolutely loved it and were blown away by the quality of it. We definitely will go back :)
You should consider visiting Memphis Mansion in Randers, once the covid-19 restrictions are lifted. It is a replica of Graceland in Memphis albeit a bit larger. It is both a great diner and an Elvis museum. It contains the largest collection of Elvis memorabilia outside the US. The collection is owned by Henrik Knudsen, probably the biggest Elvis fan on the planet. He holds guided tours of the museum every day. Well worth a visit.
We just learned about this recently! It is now on our list :).
Josh you are okay also. love you man.
One of the first videos i've seen of Århus. Good video!
Thanks! We are definitely trying to get more videos from outside of Copenhagen. And I really like Århus, so that was an easy one :).
Love this!
Gotta love Århus.
Fun fact, the church tower of Århus Domkirke at 2:52 is open to the public for like kr 20 each (cash or Mobile Pay). Pro tip, don't go there around the hour mark, the bells are LOUD. Learned that the hard way.
I've only walked by quickly in a bit of a hurry. I will make sure to go inside next time! We love Aarhus, so we will be back soon enough :).
Beautiful to see my city and I am glad you guys liked it! Did you see the exhibition "Aarhus Fortæller" underground in The Old town? It's an entire museum in itself and very well explains the history of both Aarhus and Denmark.
We didn't see it on this trip, but Miranda and I went back at Christmas and I went in. Unfortunately we had brisket with us and he couldn't come inside, so I walked through it real fast telling myself that next trip I will make sure to really explore. It was very impressive!
Next time visit Moesgaard museum, its a prehistoric and the museum itself is a fnatastic building
Agreed! Someone else suggested that a bit ago and so we made sure to visit the museum when we went back to Aarhus before Christmas. We've got a second Aarhus video where we show it a bit, ruclips.net/video/zhyuU7OgWkg/видео.html. It is one of the best museums I've ever been to. I need to go back without a camera and spend a day reading and learning, so much to see.
If you ever get to spend a few days around Aarhus there are some beautiful areas around Aarhus like Djursland and some nice beaches south of Aarhus like Norsminde. :)
We did visit Grenaa last year and realized we needed to see more! Thanks for the tips, I am eager to explore more surrounding Aarhus with future visits.
I'm so sad that I missed you guys when you went to Aarhus - you're such wholesome people I'd love to meet sometime :)
I saved a bunch of money so that I could hopefully go here next summer, glad to know it's as exciting as I thought it would be! I didn't know that that one painting that depicted the Dannebrog falling from the sky was at ARoS!
It is! I had to put that in the video :). It is a cool town, different feel than Copenhagen and worth going for the contrast. I’ve been a couple times and really enjoy the vibe. And ARoS is super cool!
If you need any help just answer this comment if you're ever over here, I am willing to help, and if you need a space to stay, then that's possible as well!
When restaurants open up again, go and visit Bones. They make an afford of making American style BBQ. The whole restaurant is covered in American memorabilia
Honestly? Memphis Roadhouse is GREAT! Bones doesn't even come close. You're setting them up for a disappointing experience.
Being able to spell "effort" might help too.
Great vlog from smilets by ;)!!
That looks amazing! There is a super cool house museum on Sjælland too.
Yeah, there is one super close to my house in Lyngby. I just haven’t made it there yet, but plan to go soon. It is a really neat concept, not something that really exists so much in the US.
My experience at war pigs was pretty terrible. Memphis roadhouse is pretty good though.
I was there for the Jazz Festival a couple of years ago, very nice city.
I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Den Gamle By around christmas time - it's a specific kind of mood, when it's all dressed and prepped for xmas.
Also, go to the bakery and try their "vaniljekranse" ("vanilla wreaths") - built after the traditional recipe. I promise you, these are the very best vaniljekranse in the country.
Oh, and I know Joshua likes 'hindbærsnitter' - and I would too recommend the ones from "Den Gamle By" - they are miles above anything.
You already know me well :). We returned to Aarhus at Christmas and went to Den Gamle By...one of the first stops was the bakery. That place is magical! - ruclips.net/video/zhyuU7OgWkg/видео.html.
@@TravelinYoung Glad to hear it! It's a wonderful place. It's one of the only places where we always buy an annual membership/entrance.
@@illus1ve I definitely would as well if I lived closer. It is cool, I’ve been 3 times now, just love it!
@@TravelinYoung Completely understand - we live in the northern part of Jutland, so there's only around an hours drive for us. If you ever need tips and pointers for stuff to see or try in the Northern Jutland, let me know - I'd gladly help out :)
What do you think about StreetFood? It's one of my favorite places to go, even just for a beer. I just love the atmosphere
Super good, we like it a lot
We hope to visit this summer!
Happy you enjoyed my birth city, I also like Aarhus but Copenhagen has such a good diversity, everyone acts like the next person in Aarhus and colors on clothing is "banned" 😂 nonetheless great people in Aarhus more respectful, Aarhus is also called "smilets by" the city of smiles 🇩🇰
They definitely have different different vibes. Maya wants to live in Aarhus, I mostly want more bbq :).
@@TravelinYoung It is a student city so that makes sense, there are university and many good colleges, thousands move to Aarhus every year for school, good place for young people, and yea the BBQ here is super nice been a while since I ate there (kinda expensive) but with the pandemic and all I might order from them again to support the businesses.
I imagine if I lived close I wouldn't eat there that much. But I've been for work and was able to expense, or on a short holiday where I'm more up for the cost. The owners are super nice and it is authentically good. Do it! :)
Jushua... You schould do audiobook... Got the voice for it...
Haha, thanks! I used to work in radio and would love to do voiceovers/etc, just never pursued it since we've moved around a lot.
@@TravelinYoung
You really have the voice for it dude... :P
Might be a retirement job for you. So you have something cool to do in your later years... ;)
That sounds nice and relaxing :).
That music at Memphis roadhouse section, who is that? thanks :-)
Now you have visited "Den Gamle by" in Århus - Do you know that "Frilands Musset" is located in northern Copenhagen, in Lyngby? Friland Musset is an equivalent to "Den Gamle By" in Aarhus.
Know that Denmark also houses the world's oldest amusement park "Bakken" which is also located in Lyngby, and the world's second oldest amusement park Tivoli in Copenhagen.
Yes yes!! While we haven't filmed Bakken and Tivoli yet, we've been a few times and love them both. We live in Lyngby and planned to got the Frilandmusset over Christmas but then things all closed down. That is high on our list when all opens again as it is simple bike ride from our house.
of course it is not full BBQ place, but if you want some good spareribs, and some really good beer to go with it, i can recommend this place, its near Tivoli bryggeriet.dk/ and also sitting and looking down at the copper kettles the beer was brewed in while eating is something else.
I have been meaning to go for the beer, but ribs are a good draw as well :). I bought a smoker back in April and just smoke my own ribs and pulled pork BBQ at home now. That has worked well. I will need to do a video about that at some point.
yes maya, den gamle by is cool but not as cool as you.
