You have every right to your opinion which is subjective, but I certainly don't agree.Within the various genres of music, opera singers both male and female sing with great power and emotion and they train for years learning how to achieve this without the aid of amplification. Pop singers use microphones and Bassey would not be heard above a large orchestra without a microphone.I think the use of hyperbole about any singer of any genre is derogatory to other great singers.I respect Bassey's achievements but I find both Garland and Streisand more to my taste, both use/used microphones.

Judy was Shirley's idol when growing up. When Shirley became a musical star they met and hit it off right away. Judy attended Shirley's concert performances when in the UK. Judy thought Shirley processed one of the greatest voices she had ever heard. And, her voice continued getting stronger over the years. That's a great compliment from one of the greatest entertainer/singers of all time. Shirley's single of this song peaked just shy of number 1 and it remained on the United Kingdom charts for a whopping six months

SHANI WALLIS played Nancy in the film version of OLIVER! that won 6 Academy Awards including Best Picture.
