    1. Godwyn's body was not eaten. Its literally the misshapen corpse you find in Deeproot depths. 2. The Gelmir Knight ghost who insists on you killing Rykard isn't working for him as a ploy to get you to be devoured, he genuinely wants you to kill him. The Gelmir Knights followed Rykard even when he commited blasphemy ( striving against the Erdtree and Golden Order) but stopped following him once his ambitions just became pure greed. You get a "My Thanks" emote from the Gelmir Knight ghost after you defeat Rykard.

      I wrote that in my original comment, but maybe I can ask you: Why should there be two identical faces of godwin with three eyes? One under stormveil and one under leyndell or under the golden tree, the first head torn out(!) and the second with a giant fish tail and a ring on a finger!? I don't want to make up a new story, I like vaati's lore like anybody else, but even he says not all is written in stone what he reported... And I'm not even sure if marika/radagon can be a god, because the shardbearer where also named demi-gods and marika is from the land of the numen, she was a tarnished, only after the eldenbeast it says "god slayed!" because it's the earthly manifastation of the greater will! And the last part is also why I'm in part wrong, because marika could be, to compare like jesus, a god, a holy trinity....

      @@z-a-p-h-k-i-e-l3290 Absolutely! If you look at what exactly happens, you see that Marika's blonde hair get red, so we fight against Radagon. If defeated the Eldenbeast appears and grabs the corpse and press it down into the darkness! And as the Beast draws his hand back up the corpse has mutated into a sword, and that's made from a body! But it could also be Marika's red sword, you can see, as she hangs with her hands locked... (sorry for my english) Maybe some exact answers will follow with a DLC or even a successor!? Even though Fromsoft never really made a story-successor, but the world is changing all the time...

      Can we talk about how the face looks like the same shape as Rykards on the side of the snake? Why is no one acknowledging this? That thing definitely didn’t just grow out of a humanoid corpse alone. It has almost zero resemblance to what we where shown Godwyn looks like. … we can see Godwyn’s body. It is not devoured. His physical corpse is in Deeproot Depths (evidenced by aria laying with him to repair the rune of death), and the visage in Dtormveil is an artifact of the spread of death root throughout the roots of the red tree, corrupting it.

  • @magnolt

    the godwyn theory is possible but I believe the reason his corpse has the mermaid tail thing is because it's being affected by the crucible as deep root depths is where the original tree and crucible still has affect over the environment

  • @Saucisse_Praxis

    The reason you find two faces representing Godwyn is that his body is undead and is slowly corrupting the Great Tree from its roots where he has been burried, in the Deeproot depths. This also why you find some of the deathroots in catacombs, near the Erdtree's roots.

    The scaly husk in the depths I made it out to be fish scales. U can even see the tail fin at the end. I also like to believe in the intro that is indeed rykard And think the snake and rykard were eating each other to the point they were one because as u can see when we beat rykard and happen to go back he is rejuvenating while tanith is eating the corpse so she too can be one with rykard and devour gods together so that they can all be one being. Just wanted to say this, if you look at the Gelmir Knight helmet, it says "Its crest of red feathers symbolizes Rykard's pedigree as Lord Radagon's son", this has probably been said but, Godwyn's body is found in the deeproot depths, and is confirmed to be his body, because of Fia's questline and the lich dragon bossfight, now I do want to say. Ingame it is said that the opening trailer art, is an artist's depiction of the events in the lands between, and is the same mystery artist that made the paintings scattered around the lands between.

    this made me think on the brothers Ranni, Radahn and Rykard, you see paintings or Radahn in Rykards castle and one thing I never understood was why Radahn was "stopping the stars", but they say the fate of Ranni is or her house is tied to the stars, maybe since Ranni did not want to be an empyrean Radahn actually held the stars for her, now the stars make us able to get to Nokron and progress her quest but maybe before she killed her body her destiny was a different one, become a god maybe and her siblings helped her avoid it

    • @kalzero3319
      @kalzero3319 2 года назад +1

      Radahn was loyal to the Golden Order. We can only speculate as to the reason he was holding back the stars. I'd posit the theory that because of his loyalty to the Golden Order, his adulation of his father Radagon, and his emulation of Godfey that he was holding back the stars to put a stop to Fate and the bringing about of an age of the Moon. He was the child of two different worlds. The Golden Order on one side and the Moon and stars on the other but we know through item descriptions that he took after his Father and emulated the powerful warrior Godfrey. Its true that he also dabbled in sorcery which he learned in Selia but its obvious where his loyalties lied. I think that its because his upbringing as Carian Royalty that Radahn understood full well that fate was tied to stars and because of this he stopped them in place in order to artificially preserve the Golden Order.
      Alternatively he could've put a stop to the stars to hold back some theoretical second Astel-like calamity but seeing as how a few seconds after we kill him the path to Nokron is opened and Ranni is allowed to once again pursue her fate I'm leaning towards the first theory.

    Also this would’ve started him down the path of blasphemy by learning of the fell god/giant fire incantations, which some of upon casting get you banished since they’re forbidden. Just a thought!

    Godwyn is the prince of death, that giant fish snake under the erdtree, the thing that Fia is resting against at the end of her quest. After godwyn was killed his body was taken to the roots of erdtree to be reborn, like all other people who die, but since his soul died but not his body he became the prince of death and is the direct cause of the deathroot. You're taking the paintings at the beginning to literally. For example the one wear morgott is fighting radahn, they're almost the same size, but we know this isn't true. That's because the artist, probably had a biased against radahn sincenhe lost, and was the one to seige the captial. The paints in the beginning are just an artists rendition of these major events they haven't seen, it's really cool world building!

    I have to wonder if Rykard's motivation all along might have been jealousy that he was not an Empyrean, like his sister, and despite all his work for the Golden Order, he would never even be considered for the next to ascend to godhood. His greatest accomplishment could only ever be to become a Lord, at best. And that's why he sought out a loophole, eventually finding that by making himself part of the serpent, he could also devour and become one with other gods, finally reaching beyond the limits of his half-mortal birth
    This could also explain his interest in aiding Ranni on the Night of Black Knives. He not only removed two of the other demigods, who he likely saw as competition, but got himself one step closer to consuming Marika when the day came that he was ready to attempt it
    If only his ambition hadn't been overcome by his gluttonous desire to just consume more and more Tarnished without ever actually making an attempt at the end goal he promised his people

    In honesty, I think of the giant God's eye with the eight dots had something to do with the "prophecy" that the Golden Order didn't like. When you think about it, twins ran rampant in the family: Mohg and Margot, Miquella and Malenia, then if correct, Rykard and Radahn. The only two who would have no equal would be Ranni and Godwyn, the forebearers of the death curse.

    I don't agree with your theory about Godwyn being eaten by the snake but I do like the theory of Rykard taking the fall for Ranni/being involved in the Night of the Black Knives. I missed that description about Ranni rewarding him.
    I think perhaps that instead of luring Godwyn, Rykard might have been the one to actually steal the rune of death for Ranni as she gives him the reward that directly offers him protection should Maliketh come looking for him. I know Ranni says she stole it but maybe she meant she orchestrated it but didn't actually do it herself. Great video's man. Keep them coming!

    • @ailaxl
      @ailaxl 2 года назад +2

      Ranni could have just as easily stolen it. I think Rykard, being a genius, helped Ranni to figure out what she needed to do to rid herself of the GW's influence. He is her older brother, after all.

  • @samttk359

    The guy in the cutscene before the game is definitely rykard, there are paintings of him in the manor before being eaten, he looks exactly like that

  • @ailaxl
    @ailaxl 2 года назад +28

    It's also possible Rykard's hair color faded to a dirty blondish/greyish hue as he aged. People's hair can turn grey sometimes pretty early on. At the same time, though, Rykard DID somehow help Ranni in her quest to turn against the Greater Will, as they both despised it (for different reasons) and perhaps based on the fact that Rykard is her older brother. What he did exactly, we don't know. Maybe he was the one who finally pushed Ranni over the edge, corrupting her mind but also giving her insight into a way to oppose the GW. She obviously never liked the GW, though, because of the treatment her mother received - basically left to an imprisoned Rennala after Radagon decided to up and leave and join his other half.

    Uhh you are way off on the Godwynn stuff. Like shockingly off. The body we see in the roots is Godwyns corpse. Godwyn wasnt eaten by the god devouring serpent.The one we see under the castle is a bit more complicated but it's thought to be by most an infected Erdtree root. You can see similar faces on the postule charm and giant crabs. His living mutated corpse has infected the erdtree and is spreading like a pathogen in the Lands Between. What do you think deathroot is? He died in soul not body just like Ranni died in body not soul. I can go into a hell of a lot more detail if needed but you should look into this a bit more...

May I suggest talking to the finger reader outside the area where you fight Fotisax the Lichdragon. The lore community has been putting the pieces together for awhile now. Maybe take a look at some posts/videos that touch on Godwyn, those who live in death, and the deathroot.

    • @kalzero3319
      @kalzero3319 2 года назад +10

      @@agtjake Hell, even the wormface enemies are very likely some how connected to Godwyn's living corpse spreading its contamination. His assassination and the subsequent contamination of the cycle of death is what gave rise to Those Who Live In Death. Fia is laying with his corpse(Not his shed skin) because that's what deathbed companions do. They lay with corpses, get pregnant, and rebirth the dead into new life. It's the whole point of her questline. Like I said I'm not trying to be an asshole I'm just pointing out that the Godwyn stuff in your video is factually incorrect. It's a fun theory but ultimately untrue. Thanks for making the video though. Without speculation discovering lore wouldn't be fun.

Imo you added some very interesting details and even if Ryckard didn't devour Godwyn, there is still a connection.
