Practice swing is flatter than the dynamics of the actual swing. Feel v Real on show here……Should have mentioned that during filming but never jumped into my head at the time🤷♂️
You have a follower for life! I can’t tell you how much better and farther I’m hitting driver since watching this video. Game changer! Thank you so much for that instruction!!!
Absolutely! I used to swing like this as a self-taught golfer but made the mistake of taking a couple of lessons and they had me come up high with the club on the backswing and then drop it in the slot. This way is much easier. I am going to the range tomorrow to go back to this swing. It is much more simple and with the tiny bit of time i have to practice, I need simple.
For anyone struggling with a slice or push with their driver, this swing change has completely changed my game off the tee. I was struggling so much with my path with driver, this has made it so much easier for me to execute especially when I’m anxious on the first tee. I keep my hip bumped towards the target and then just think about swinging deep around my body. I can also swing much harder without losing accuracy
Thanks Steve, last trainer had me with the tilt and that just screwed up my swing to the point I was hitting all over the place and mostly weak drives. I worked with another very good golfer who had me centered and same to take the driver back inside and now driving much more consistent and more distance!
Another vote for not hitting up with driver! My coach agrees with you; he says that teaching "hitting up" has only led to confusion and frustration. I know it works for some people, but every time I've tried that upper body tilt away from the ball, it's ruined my ability to turn my shoulders properly. Your setup makes so much more sense. Great video!
This worked a treat. Wow. Hit 7of 8 fairways today with roll out distances between 250 to 290 yards. Wind and hills. Getting rid of the shoulder tilt and having 50/50 weight did the trick. Thank Steve. I am now a eureka convert.
Last year I was told to tilt more by a clubfitter, but started hitting my driver worse. After a golf pro lesson I'm back now to my original stance which is exactly what Steve is showing here... happy to see it's a good approach.
This is what the GOAT Jack teaches. The head stays centered and an imaginary poll between the head straight to the ground. No shoulder tilt to the right. A level swing with irons and driver with a touch of stack and tilt.
Tried this, arrived late for a round had no time to warm up, hit a GAPR hi from the first tee, 2nd tee was backed up had a lot of time to practice swing, topped 3 attempts in front of 6 players, won’t be trying it again I thought, with hole just before the turn I was getting tired and my always reliable GAPR hi started to slice on me, sure sign of fatigue, thought f**k it I’ll give it another go, I gained 30 yards on my drive and for the rest of the round hit everything straight and long! Longest ever drive at 270 on the fairway. With only two swing thoughts straight back and top of swing position where Steve said. Thank you so much god I hope It lasts!!!
Thank you so much! I knew something was missing with my driver setup. At one point I was hitting it very well during winter on a simulator but could never get it back. Now my swing feels more smooth and smash factor is 1.38 and higher. Now I just need to work on closing club face so I don’t push it to the right 😂
Fantastic video!! Just subscribed. So many people tell me to lift the club higher (like Justin Thomas) if I have a poor tee shot. I try to keep it low and slow on the take away, make that turn, and come through with my body facing the target. My swing looks very similar to this. So nice to have a video confirming what I'm doing. I'm 53 but can hit it around 280. Wonderful video, thanks!!!
This is definitely helping me to hit fairways. Trying to get an upward tilt with the shoulders always caused me confusion and problems. Nelly Korda doesn’t hit up on the ball with driver either and it definitely works for her. 😀
Steve, this mehod makes makes so much sense. Some questions in my mind. 1- What is the ball height? 2- Where is the ball located in relation to your feet? 3-What you would do if you wanted to slice or fade around the dog leg? Go back only an inch or none at all? 4- What would you do if you wanted to draw or hook around a dog leg? 5-Is open stand to compensate for axesive draw? 6-What would happen if you had a close stand? Thanks in advance.
Totally agree I tried to exaggerate the tilt as well and it just threw off my weight distribution when I looked at video from front facing cameras I noticed I already have a little natural tilt anyway because the ball is towards your left foot so you have to slightly angle your body.
I used your setup & early release on golf course, but with a less flat backswing- much better, more consistent drives. Irons & few woods / hybrids were a bit spotty - might be doing my wrist action wrong on those. Probably should hold the angle on downswing a bit longer on those.
Love it Steve, keep on blowing up RUclips 🤣! Would you advocate staying shallow for fairways, hybrids and even irons as well or is it purely for driver?
I swing on a single plane so it's not too difficult for me to try different plane angles. When I swing as flat as what you are showing, I find a lot more variation in face angle at impact. And a lot of hooks. OTOH if I do as you show for JT, that's a slice swing, but the face is much more consistent. Somewhere in the middle works best for me. My bottom line is that flat = more side to side dispersion and more hooks. EDIT: Now I see your pinned comment. :)
I,ll try this way Steve. What course are you on. We,re coming up later this year and would love to play this course. Love Scotland. Enjoy your channel too. I think I tee way to high with an orange castle tee.
I’ve accidentally been doing this and my driver accuracy and distance has gone mad, positively mad. T😢hanks for this absolutely brilliant. Oh and trying to hit up stuffed me
Steve. I must say your tips have really helped me over the years. One thing I noticed on down the line view …when you’re showing your practice backswing position, you are way under plane … Probably 30° below your shoulder line. Then when you make your actual swing, you are perfectly on plane. Doesn’t seem to match at all with the backswing position you were attempting. Is that just a feel versus real thing? Jon
Great video. People think you need to hit UP. You don't. Club has loft. Level is key. I don't agree with Eureka foot position but everything else is gold
I am older and fatter…always preferred open stance to help clearing left side….just can’t get lazy and start with the shoulders too open…..then disaster lurks. Great feedback by all on here!
@@lavrentievv no you don't, some pros hit down 0.5 degrees on the driver, you absolutely do not need to hit up on a driver. Thats another huge misconception in golf. That makes 99% of amateurs slice the shit out of the ball and they think they need to add 20 degrees of loft. It's nonsense.
I just tried the eureka foot position today it worked a treat straight and long. Remember it is the front foot that drops back towards the body. I previously had the back foot drop back to control the fade I had.
@@craigcrawford6749 They hit down 0.5 on trackman which is 2° up on GCquad. And those are at 180mph swing speeds. They're basically stingers, that if an average golfer tries will lose 50 yards of distance. Hitting up reduces spin-loft which you absolutely need for lowest possible scores.
So I seem quite capable of doing the backswing shoulder turn on plane as you demonstrate but I seem to have a very static lead shoulder and I'm unable to bring it through. I tend to freeze the shoulder and end up shrugging and causing a chicken wing top. Any thoughts? It's almost as if my shoulder moves vertically upwards instead of horizontally around
I was using this technique and it worked really well, straight and far.... but..... I found it difficult to stay consistent with a back swing that low. And I had to swing hard for it to work. It never worked with a slower swing speed. I'm going back to a more traditionnal driver swing. Not yet there... 😆
Taylormade had a recent video out with tiger Rory and Nelly korda hitting driver. Nellys attack angle was -2.2 and she was banging it 260 yards. There’s still loft on the driver, I think people forget this.
Im a total hack, picked up golf again, 2 years ago, after 25 years. I never used a driver before, and this past year, I watched videos of the exact opposite, and I’m hitting driver better than ever. YMMV, if I try this stuff, my driver will stop working
All of this is great advice. You dont need to 'hit up ' is right. I think the bottom of the swing is in the middle of yoru stance. Swinging through, if the ball is at your arm pit, teed up a little and you swing a little in to out and you will be naturally catching it a little on the upswing. Staying as level as possible is also great advice for the feel, as in reality again the club will be on a natural small upswing. Never liked all this backward tilt spine advice, 60/40 weight which never felt right. Teeing the ball a little lower is better too as you naturally rest the club on the ground at address. If you keep your vertical position (you want to for accuracy anyway) , all you then have to do is just return the club to address on a slight in to out path. When you are swinging w the ball too high and hitting up too much it just doesn't seem right. This isn't stick ball.
You should explain to people about feel vs real cos in your real swing your arms are nowhere near where they are in your practice swing. If you don't you'll have people trying to swing around themselves to get to that position you're showing where your arm plane is way lower than your shoulder plane
This technique just doesn't work for me. What you're doing is equivalent to a sweep....and especially with a low loft club, it's more likely to result in a stinger, if one achieves that basic loft. I don't believe in pulling the club so far behind....and I don't like the club arc you're creating. You're exaggerating what occurs with a slight lean backwards. The backswing goes more upwards....than back behind the body. In order to hit properly and get loft, one has to swing inside....and not come over the top. Once you get that path, the slight tilt backwards produces a beautiful straight hit....still coming through the hips and moving weight to the posted lead leg. The power is more direct than your sweeping hit.....which is much easier to pull....or shank.
I Don't know if you've heard the term, "every action has an equal and opposite reaction", but it's generally thought that if you come inside too quickly, then your chances of coming over the top on the downswing, are greater. There aren't many people, that could take it inside as much as you and still swing in to out on the downswing!!
Practice swing is flatter than the dynamics of the actual swing. Feel v Real on show here……Should have mentioned that during filming but never jumped into my head at the time🤷♂️
You're welcome Steve 😁👍🏽
Steve is #1 online golf man, thanks so much for great memories ❤
Another great one Steve; making it a simpler set up compared with the usual spine tilt, shoulder heights etc
Excellent video. That's just straightened my driver out. Thanks and keep these great videos coming. Really enjoy them.
Thanks Steve. Your tips are always helpful and appreciated!
This guy ALWAYS gives excellent instructions! No BS, just quality teaching. Love to take lessons with him.
I appreciate that! Thanks 👍

Good video Steve

These videos are awesome, Good work!
Just had a lesson tonight. Was told to get rid of the tilt and narrow my stance a bit and it worked a treat 👍
Brilliant , work in progress but I am getting there ,my driver going straighter & longer 👍
Thanks mate you confirmed my thoughts and theories on best way to setup with my driver and ball height. Perfecto 👌
Excellent, especially the tee-height explanation. Thank you, Steve
Ok, this makes more sense to me than anything or anyone else has to date. Giving it a go over the weekend, cheers Steve! 👊🤞
Great work and explanation
At last someone has addressed tee height.... Playing Friday will be trying this for sure... Thanks Steve
Love this, cant wait to get to the range and give it a go!!!
Agree 100% on ball height. Your videos reinforce common sense. 👍🏻
I agree. I had much rather hit a lower shot on occasion than sky one 50 yards.
Thank you so much! I knew something was missing with my driver setup. At one point I was hitting it very well during winter on a simulator but could never get it back. Just tried it,works great
Nice cap😜. I totally agree on tee height, the average golfer does not have consistency to be able to hit up and be square.
I agree. I am always afraid I will hit a sky ball if I tee it high.
Thanks Steve great advice.
This is definitely helping me to hit fairways. Trying to get an upward tilt with the shoulders always caused me confusion and problems. Nelly Korda doesn’t hit up on the ball with driver either and it definitely works for her. 😀

Great video and I like to play with an open stance. Ball position is key, Steve how about a video on Ball position with the Eureka Golf Swing?
Another excellent explanation Steve. I only wish I seen this yesterday before I sprayed my drives all over the course!!😂😂
I'll try it in my comp at the weekend and get back to you
Great stuff. You got a new customer…

yeah by pausing it you're right, his practice swing is slightly more inside to that of his actual swing...good spot that..
Class video steve, I can't wait to get on the range with them swing thots. I went OB right back in back in April.
I was always told to tilt the right shoulder so you hit up on the ball better!!
Great drill Steve ..I enjoyed this video..want to hit driver now..
I just watched a video of you with the driver head 12 inches behind the ball on the ground 3 inches in As your technique which one do you go with
Great video. People think you need to hit UP. You don't. Club has loft. Level is key. I don't agree with Eureka foot position but everything else is gold
You do need to hit up. Just the set up doesn't need shoulder tilt.

… got it 👍🏻
I’m trying this tomorrow
THX a lot Steve. This was a great Aha-moment,or a wake-up call if you like :)
Is this Cardrona in Peebles? If it is, what a course
It is.⛳️
Steve. There is o good 6 inches in height between your hands in the practice swing and when you strike the ball.

Anyone know how far back in the stance is the ball ?
Steve great lesson I want to reward with £s🙏🏿
Sure, send as much as you like😂
Only joking, glad you got some benefit from my content. That’s the aim!!!

Wooooph. I hear ya, but looooord is it difficult to think about doing. Ha.
Steve is the pink step tee ok
Perfect
Thanks
This is basically how I hit my mini driver, sort of half way between a 3 wood and driver - will try it with the big dog 👍🏻
Steve please show the exact correct ball position.

I would set up with the toe of the club face at the ball at address as well
