It’s semantics. Persians (Iranians) refer to it as such. Historically when oil was discovered in the region, it was first discovered in Iran. Western nations frequented the region a lot and as a result that gulf became known as the “Persian Gulf” Certainly, it had always been known as the “Arabian sea or Arab Gulf” to the Arabs. So if you’re in Iran, it’s the Persian Gulf, and if you’re across in Arab lands, it’s the Arabian Sea or Arab Gulf. Hope this helps.
