SHEILA E, THANK YOU FOR YOUR GIFT OF MUSIC!!! You are part of the soundtrack of my life! I began buying your Cassettes in the 80s. I purchased and fell in love with the SIGN OF THE TIMES VHS. What I love so much as a MUSIC(IANSHIP) LOVER is how the entire PRINCE empire, as rap and hip-hop gained popularity, you all never just went with the trend, but stayed authentic to yourselves, and let the world (and the record industry) know we are not monolithic, easily categorized and compartmentalized for marketing and exploitation. Just being true to our art (I'm a visual artist) is just as, if not more, a political, social, cultural, and economic statement! WE ARE NOT SLAVES TO THE RHYTHM OF COMMERCE! (I LOVE YOU GRACE JONES, AND YOUR SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM ALBUM, please take no offense if you read this.) WE PIONEER OUR OWN PATHS!.. as PRINCE and GRACE JONES and SHEILA E and SONA JOBARTEH and ASPERENZA SPALDING and MAURICE WHITE and BARRY WHITE and ANGELA WINBUSH and ANGELA BOFILL and PATRICE RUSHEN and PATTI LABELLE and INDIA IRIE and JAMES MTUME and MILES DAVIS and HERBIE HANCOCK and BOOTSY and GEORGE DUKE and ROGER TROUTMAN and TINA TURNER and MELBA MOORE and MICHAEL JACKSON and KASHIF and CHAKA KHAN and NORMAN CONNORS and BRENDA RUSSELL and MARCUS MILLER and NILE ROGERS and NARADA MICHAEL WALDEN and HAZEL SCOTT and ROBERTA FLACK and MARVIN GAYE and LUTHER VANDROSS and JIMI HENDRIX and SISTER ROSETTA THARPE and MARTHA WASH and STEVIE WONDER and ARETHA FRANKLIN and so many others did. "If I fail, if I succeed, at least I'll live as I believe" THANK YOU WHITNEY. "I just got to be free" THANK YOU DENIECE WILLIAMS. "Nobody can be you" THANK YOU STEVE ARRINGTON. "With no mistake of being someone else that you're not, you are the best you can be" THANK YOU CHANGE. "Respect yourself" THANK YOU STAPLE SINGERS. "Thank you falettinme be mice elf again" THANK YOU SLY STONE. "Rivers belong where they can ramble, eagles belong where they can fly, I've got to be where my spirit can run free" THANK YOU JACKSON 5. "Pop Life, we all got a space to fill" THANK YOU PRINCE. As an ARTIST, and OLD SCHOOL MUSIC LOVER, one thing I don't like about the culture (perhaps business culture) around young consumers is, many have been conditioned to see artists as "in competition", who's "better", who has greater celebrity or wealth. Artists compete with themselves, not each other. This is why, along with their music, I love all the artists I listed. Dating back to early cultures of JAZZ, I love the culture, legacy, and tradition of COMMUNITY, IMPROVISED CREATIVITY, jamming together organically, which is not competition, but sharing a rich soil so all seeds grow. I was looking for your other channel where you interview and showcase other artists. I am fascinated by, and becoming a fan of SONA JOBARTEH! I love her music, and that she founded a school. I also love African opra singer PRETTY YENDA. Her voice is amazing! If possible, can you interview SONA JOBARTEH, and let her know she has fans in the United States? Over the years, there has been many African Artists who's music I love. In addition to SONA and PRETTY, SADE, FUDA MUSA SUSO, HUGH MASAKELA, LADYSMITH, BHEKI MSELEKU, MIRIAM MAKEBA, and MANU DEBANGO. Great music is a universal language, a "vocabulary" that far exceeds the limits of words, touching emotions we didn't even know we had! The greatest ambassadors of HUMANITY are food and MUSIC! I know I'm preaching to the choir. SHEILA E, THANK YOU FOR NOT ONLY YOUR PRECIOUS GIFT OF MUSIC, BUT ALL YOU DO TO ENRICH THE SOIL THAT OTHER SEEDS MAY GROW. YOU ARE SUNLIGHT AND WATER!

Wow.. I only have 5 autographed CDS: TERRY "ZAPP" TROUTMAN, I met him promoting their first CD after ROGER and his brother passed. BEBE WINNAN, I met him in town on tour with a gospel stage play. BOOTSY, I met him and his wife, they are incredibly nice! I did not meet NATALIE COLE, but I have one of her signed CDS she auctioned. But my favorite encounter was meeting VESTA WILLIAMS! She was in town promoting the 4U album. She was just as sweet as she could be!!
SHEILA E, I don't know a visual artist not inspired by their favorite music artists. Is there any way the musician community and the visual artist community can work together to help each other, and those in need of help? It broke my heart to hear about JAZZ artists who lost everything in hurricane Katrina, and angered me that I couldn't use my art to help. You all give so much to the world. When musicians go through hard times, your fans who can have no problem giving back, if there is a way. Sometimes, I just wish I could tell artists like ROBERTA FLACK, MELBA MOORE, ANGELA BOFILL, PATTI AUSTIN, and others I love them, if only with my artwork. SHEILA E, is there a way?
