The shredder over the mixing bowl is genius!

not really if the recipe calls for a cup of grated x how will you measure x, while it may be ok for some mixtures l can see it being a pain for others, it looks like you have to use the bowl to catch the food from the shute, so if the bowl is in use you are knackered if you want to grate some cheese and you are in the middle of a sponge cake, unless it comes with a spare bowl

    • @alang253
      @alang253 3 года назад +2

@@debeeriz really not hard to figure out, you can do it before you start mixing other ingredients. You can use any type of bowl- you could even angle the chute to land in a different bowl sitting on top of a scale. If it were me I'd just weigh out 8 oz. of carrots to grate straight into the mixture.

Thank you for your informative video. I have two Bosch kitchen machines I use every week as an avid home cake baker. One ooooold Lady from the mid 80's and a newer MUM58257. They fit into standard cupboards, which is probably one of the things I love most for convenient storage let alone the fact that all of the attachments from my OLD Bosch fit onto the newer MUM and visa versa with an age difference of over 30 years. I love both, just wish I could find the Patisserie Flexible Stirrer attachment to buy somewhere loose. Can only recommend Bosch machines, personally would never buy another brand ever again. My Bosch hand held mixer is 29 years old and has never ever failed me either, still works like a charm and it gets to work really hard too.

Just discovered your channel. Nice recipe, will try out this week, this is a great video, even for beginners. I like the way you talk and explain.
This BOSCH kitchen machine is amazing, have the MUM4505/4 'Family' in use for more than 15 yrs, still working like a new one. Got also the meat grinder, the shredder/slicer, and the blender. The blender is terribly noisy, I hardly use it, have now for years a separate high-powered blender. EDIT: it's now the end of 2020. My little gem is still going strong, using it mostly for making bread and cake dough dough, shredding, slicing. Today I was making bread, and thought while looking at the wonderful appliance: wow, that was well-spent money! I even use this appliance with a transformer on 220V, since I purchased it in Europe in 1999 or 2000, and brought it with me when I moved to North America. The most beautiful fact is, that they still sell replacement parts and attachments for it. What a great quality

Looks great. I've got a KitchenAid but the gears have broken several times in just 3 years. Switching to Bosch. Do you think a Bosch model with 4 speed settings is enough, for a keen baker, or should I look for one with more speed settings pls? Also, is the white appliance a flour mill or some sort of flour storage? x

    • @carolstiles6804
      @carolstiles6804 5 лет назад +2

Any of the Bosch models will do any kind of mixing, kneading, whipping etc. more efficiently than any or the other type of stand mixers. Even this small Compact model has the power and design to knead bread effectively. The high speed and low speeds can be used with all kinds of different applications. Yes that is a flour or grain mill behind us, where we mill our own flour for our bread and many of our other baked goods.

Its 2021, so it says this vid is 7 years old so I'm curious if the compact mixer is still working?
Hhave there been any problems with it?

    • @philippbock3399

We have ours since 1996 and it still works (and works and works ...) It has such a power to make a yeast dough of 500 g (1,1 lb) all purpose flour without any problems. It is the best kitchen machine one can buy and worth every penny :-)
We used to have the formerly model and gave it to a relative when we bought the "newer" machine in 1996 and our relative still uses it. That is a good example for the high quality of that Bosch kitchen machine.

Thanks so much for your reply.
I have mine a few weeks now, the first one arrived about 1 month and it broke on first ise, luckily i was recording my first use but im not going to put it on RUclips but i did send it to the company i bought it from, they said the gears were stripped. They could tell by the sound they heard on vid
They said throw it out or keep as a spare if i want to fix it. They shipped me a new base. There was nothing else wrong so they didn't send another bowl and beaters. The second base has been working good. I'm trying to learn to make bread so far no luck but i tried about 8 times so far and has to throw them all out. Ive made a couple batches of cookies and cake and the bosch worked great

@@WannodsPlace :-) Thank you for your answer as well. You can put the bowl and the dough hooks in the dishwasher machine. I read some posts in other topics (and amazon) about problems but maybe some users may use the machine in a wrong way. I often make "Dampfnudeln" a kind of Bavarian yeast dumplings (with vanilla sauce/custard) and the dough is quite strong but it really works to my full satisfaction. I heared some comments that Bosch may uses plastic components but I think that's not true. When I make yeast dough for that really delicious meal I always put the ingredients slowly and one after another by level 1 (and later level 2) and the dough develops "step by step" ... So if you are looking for a really great meal try to make "Dampfnudeln" - there are a lot of recipes for it and it is really worth making it (especially on a cold and grey day in autumn). Many greetings from Bavaria, Philipp

@@WannodsPlace Hello again. I will tell you the recipe it is based on the recipe of the "Bavarian cookbook". Dampfnudeln are Bavarian yeast balls boiled in hot milk (related to "Austrian Germknoedel" or "Buchteln")
Ingredients: Dampfnudeln (yeast dumplings/balls) - made of "middle strong" yeast dough (Bavarian cookbook): 500 g (1,1 lb) all purpose flour, 1 pinch of salt, 125 ml (1/4 pint) lukewarm milk (in the microwave: 30 - 35 sec., 900 W), 7 g (a sachet of yeast) (circa 0,25 oz) instant yeast - you get it in every supermarket, circa 75 g (2 1/2 oz) oil (all purpose oil like sunflower oil) or soft lukewarm butter (but oil is better), 75 g (2 1/2 oz) sugar, 1 egg (leave in lukewarm water for about 15 min.); a cup of additional lukewarm water for the dough to add if it gets too strong/dry. If you like lemons you can also add the zest of a lemon (but it should be a "bio" product which is not treated with pesticides or wax etc.
Vanilla souce/custard: 1 sachet of instant vanilla pudding powder and 60 g (2 oz) sugar. Usually you need 1/2 l (1 pint) milk for it but to get a larger amount I use 1 l (2 pints) and add 1 - 2 tea spoons of corn starch. But if you have an own reipce just use this (I am too lazy so I make the sauce of instant pudding powder :-)
Preparation: Sieve the flour in the bowl of the Bosch Mixer, add the (sachet of) yeast and the salt, the sugar (or lemon zests) and stir (with the dough hook for "heavy" dough) on level 1. After the "dry" ingredients are mixed together, add the milk, the oil (or soft butter) and the egg and slowly change to level 2. When the dough starts to get dry add a bit of the lukewarm water in the cup (just as much as it is needed to make the dough "not too soft and not too strong". If you have put too much water, just add a bit of flour and it will become stronger again. let the machine kneat for a while until the mass develops a dough like a large rubber ball. It is best if no dough sticks on the bowl that you can put it out of the bowl without a rest ... Put it into a large tupperware bowl lid it and put the bowl into warm water (kitchen sink). Let the dough grow ca. 25 - 30 min., sometimes you hear a "plopp" when the lid "bursts open" itself. After that you can repeat that growing to make it more "fluffily" but it is not necessary ...
Boiling in a bowl/pan (best in a cast iron pot of about 25 cm/10 in diameter): 250 ml (1/2 pint) luke warm milk, 60 g (ca. 2 oz) melted butter, 20 g (ca. 0,70 oz) sugar, 1 pinch of salt. Put all ingredients into the pan, stir the mixture, take a large tablespoon and put out about ca. 12 - 15 dumplings. I make them as large as a small apple or a tennis ball. put them into the lukewarm milk-butter-sugar mass in the pan. Turn on the oven (level 7) and close the pan with a lid (ideal is a glass lid so you can see the dumplings "growing". After turning on the oven NEVER EVER OPEN the lid because the dumplings WILL COLLAPSE. That is very important because many people fail Dampfnudeln because they open the lid.
Let it boil until you hear them "singing" or "cracking": Reduce the heat to about level 3 (ca. 15 min), then level 1 - 2 (10 min.) after that turn off the heat completely and let the dumplings on the warm burner for anotner 10 min. In the meantime you can prepare the custard. The "Dampfnudeln" are ready when no liquid is left or only a bit of rest is left. If you are lucky, the dumplings have "developed" a caramelized crust at the bottom.
Serve with warm custard. If you like it a bit more "fruty" you can also serve them as a side dish together with custard and compote/stewed fruit such as apple compot, plum compot, apricot compot ... (traditionally in Bavaria). If you have no compot you can serve the dumplings with custard an jam - you can use all kind of jam you usually have at breakfast or with pancakes. Once I made chocolate sauce instead of custard and it made a wonderful contrast to the vanilla-based sweetness of the "Dampfnudeln".
All the best to you. Enjoy cooking and I hope it is not too complicated.
If you search for "Dampfnudeln" on youtube you can watch how they are made - so you can get an impression of how they are usually made. But like it is with most recipes: there are hundrets of variations ... Some people put a plum/an apricot into each dumpling to make them more fruity.
      Greetings from Bavaria, Philipp

I would used the whips to cream the butter, sugar and eggs at first but when I am making a heavy cookie dough, I exchange the whip for the dough hook. For regular cookies, I use the whisk, which is between the dough hook and the whip for strength.

SPOILED after 1 year for both hood n mum59340.
do you know how much it will take to repair it?
for the TELESCOPIC hood, one small slice of the flimsy filter panel. @$64
You need to pay up to 128 for both.
mum5, $122 for a minor fault, the drill can't go in fully. protruding out half an inch. diagnose cost $46. you got to send it personally to their service centre. subtotal $168
add up the total for both. $168+$128+cab fare = approx $316
you are better off purchasing other company's product.
to top it up, my wife recommended it to a friend. her one is even worst. lasted for only 1 month. she sends it for repair at the service centre twice and it's still not fixed. her cab has already cost her $50, not including the repair fee yet.
don't buy Bosch. you will regret it.
