- After working with the composer and guitarist Carlo Domeniconi and recording a series of Masterclasses about this well-known classical guitar piece "Koyunbaba op. 19", I want to share my interpretation with you.
Koyunbaba describes not only a region in Turkey with beautiful but very rough nature but also a sheppard ("Koyun" = "sheep", "Baba" = "father") and a mystical and legendary figure.

I like this version, it's well-balanced in both guitar technique and musical expression, especially the way she creates the music, making it dramatic with controlled dynamics and tone color.
Koyunbaba is one of my favourite classical guitar pieces. I listen to Ekaterina Pushkarenko performance daily but I may have a new favourite after I heard your ultimate version, Julia. Bless your performance.

I agree that Julia's rendition is wonderful but maybe you could also try Svetoslav Costoff's on Siccas Guitars. It's a very different interpretation but also very enjoyable. 😀

@@andrewgrant9782 so I’ve actually listened to this version before, but for me, Julia’s version just speaks to me more. Her tempo and accentuation of certain parts over others just grips me more. Maybe it’s the fact that she had a whole lesson with Carlo that makes this piece the golf standard, but either way I always prefer to listen to this

Very nice performance. Some portions of this are stunning, a touch sloppy through some parts of the presto where it gets crunchy, and maybe a bit in the end of the third, but first and third mvts took my breath away.
