      These are very different than thos kind of Scones! These are like a pancake! You spread butter on, fold and eat. They are Absolutely Delicious, And VERY Addictive! Lol 💜🗝

    In New Zealand these are crazily close to what we call pikelets

    We call them Scotch pancakes here in England. I make them all the time and the first ones are always lighter.

      Do you use digital scales as well?

    • @LizzieWhiz
      @LizzieWhiz 3 месяца назад +1

      @@thevictorianedge5465 Yes, always! Any type of baking even on the stove top should always be measured by Oz or grams on digital scales or the old type scales with the Oz weights work too. However grams are more precise but keep to the same measurements don't mix them. 1 Oz = 28.3495231 so here in the UK Oz is classed as 28g which is the nearest 10. I was taught to bake using Oz in the 1970s. Anyone can cook but making any type of confectionary or cake type food needs the correct measurements....it's a science!

    My stomach is growling just watching this video. But I’m wondering how did the Scottish get it so precise way back in the day without digital scales??

    • @DianeTheCanningNana
      @DianeTheCanningNana  3 месяца назад +1

      The Original recipe was written using Weighted scales! Lol. Which is why it is in Ounces! We have Never tried to convert it. My Lemon Curd ( we actually call it Lemon " Cheese" recipe I Have converted after MUCH time and Effort and gotten it to exactly the Right flavor. But this one and the Shortbread, I won't even attempt! 💜

      @@DianeTheCanningNana I just remember my mom saying most things taste abit better with a pinch of salt and a splash of vanilla. I guess that is true for a lot of things but not true for your marvelous looking Scottish 'pan' scone cakes.

    The reason it doesn't work if you say 4 ounces is a quarter cup is because 4 ounces is a half cup. 🤷

    • @DianeTheCanningNana
      @DianeTheCanningNana  3 месяца назад +1

      4 ounces is measured by Weight, Not by volume. This recipe and other old Weighted recipes just aren't the same if converted . 💜

    Might try this recipe. You need to do something about the background noice. Way too loud.

      This was filmed at my Daughter's Home. She's about to move so home is empty and echoing. Sorry about that. My video's do Not have background noise normally. 💜

      Thank you! It's my Daughters home and we did an unplanned filming. Wasn't going to ask everyone to stop talking in the next room! They were quite a ways a way! Just wanted the recipe and tutorial on film with she and my 6 year old Granddaughter making it Together. It was A Priceless Moment to capture on Film! 💜🤗
