The bench came through and won the game. Even though its Pre season, a win is a win. There are lots of guys trying to make the roster on both teams, i loved the effort. Tyler the Creator Koleck is a star!!!
Biggest takeaway is we don’t have to worry about our bench. People said that was going to be our biggest issue, that game showed we’re going to be just fine

Mcbride and Kolek looked very good..Shamet also shot the ball well. I think our bench will be decent. The big factor will be the health of guys like Kat and OG, along with the shooting and playmaking of Bridges

Hopefully, this is not what to expect from Kat. I need to see more versatility on offense; low post footwork, pumps, fakes, back to basket etc, along with mid range jumper. I watched a game last year where jrue holiday was guarding him, that should be barbecue chicken every time.
I know right! I wish Kat was perfect like Juju who was easily better than Tim Duncan since we traded him. Of course before that we would complain about him in every way for years but after the trade he is a hall of famer
What I saw was a horrific shot selection by KAT. I know it’s only preseason but god the number of times KAT chucked 3’s from way too far with 20 seconds on the clock is horrible to see.
Nothing like overreacting after the first preseason game where the first unit only played 15 min. Another guy that will punch the air any time Kat misses a shot filled by a post saying that Juju never missed shots ever
Hard to get too excited for depth players like Deuce, Precious, Shamet, and Kolek beating up on 2nd and 3rd stringers on a bad team but also if you aren't gonna dominate the Hornets bench who are you going to dominate? I think Deuce is gonna start, he's gonna help the spacing (which is already fantastic with KAT out there) but it is also gonna allow Hart to be that "super 6th man" Hart is gonna be a backup for both OG and Bridges while also spelling Duce in certain lineups. If Kolek, Precious, and Shamet can be quality or even just decent backups and Mitch can come back healthy that's going to go a long way to fortifying the 7-10 spots on the roster. It is also still nice to have Payne and Simms in that 11-12 spots.
Sleeper to start: Shamet. If he can defend in the backcourt, he’s a great guy to have next to Brunson. Not to mention I like McBride and hart together off the bench, they can take turns running the offense and push the pace
People out here thinking Donte is Klay Thompson in his prime for real 😂😂😂. Dude is a good role player who had an opportunity to shoot without worry for 4 months because the Knicks had no choice. He had no pressure. We good with MCBRIDE

@@goattygoat9489 Contrary to popular belief Divo made it clear that he considered himself a Knick for life and was happy to do anything the Knicks requested as long as he got to stay with his best friend Brunson. With OG and KAT's injury history he knew he would get a lot of playing time and if he didn't that was OK also . What's very clear is this trade was a major shock to Jalen and Donte both. Hoping they can be reunited at some point.

Like Marshall said, nothing from last night even mattered as they have like 10 minutes together total so far... The one part I didn't like though, look just like last year, no different, Simms... He just has no basketball IQ, he just doesn't know where he supposed to be, when you should be stepping up and helping on D, doesn't really have the feel when hye supposed to be rolling to the basket etc etc etc.. he just better not be our number two center, it WILL become a problem as the good coaches will see it is fast as I do and target the s*** out of him
And everybody else, the usual suspects, all reflected what I was expecting, especially deuce but the BIG possible difference maker, how about this kid SHAMET... Besides that shot and having some height on him, I liked the decisions he made... Seems like a selfless player that won't force shots , make you pay if you don't shift to him and if they do he's selfless enough to make a good pass... I think he'll surprise us
My takeaway from game 1 is Deuce should start over Josh Hart. Only because Hart can be a steadying force in the 2nd unit. possibly the 6th man of the year!
Every time Cam Payne puts that shot up I cringe. That is the ugliest shot in the NBA! Deuce did his thing. Precious was golden. Kolek showed that he can play with the big boys. Shamet balled out.

I think we watch two different games. What I saw from KAT was god awful defense. I think he might be the worst defensive starting center in the NBA. Jerico Sims looked outstanding. He looks like a far superior player than Nick Richards.

KAT was not godawful on defense, just looked unsure on some rotations. this isn’t NBA 2k, and these guys are getting to know each other.
If you consider Kat's defense bad, then consider that Julius Randall's defense was horrible.
