Hi! I am a recent (3 months) BKA from an accident. You may feel uneasy about becoming a peer for amputees in my situation, but from watching your videos, you are extremely well versed in the anatomy and subsequent post op progress of your amputation. Furthermore, your demeanor is calm and matter-of-fact without hype which lends itself to being a good instructor. Unfortunately for me, my accident took place in October, 2021 at the height of a pandemic crisis at the hospital where I was taken. I am a physician myself, so what I'm about to say may seen surreal but the surgeon who operated on me, did not follow the usual protocol for an amputation, which left me with a very large hematoma, which resulted in part of the skin incision to not close. Adding insult to injury, during my entire stay in hospital, rehab unit and 3 visits to his office for post-op wound checks, this individual never saw me again! I saw a nurse. Since then, I sought a second opinion at another institution where I was treated appropriately. I had to have a revision of the incision, drain the blood that had collected and now I'm doing much better. However, this has caused a delay in getting a prosthesis and I'm still wheelchair bound until the second operation heals. So, thanks for your well -put-together videos.
Making my new year's resolutions. This was a good watch for me. Have a rollator and a powerchair, but thinking crutches will give me another option. And I find people are fantastic!
