    Why didn't you make smaller feet that fit into the channels? Wouldn't the channels be stronger as it is where two pieces of sheet metal meet and are spot welded together?

      Yes! That's a great idea. We have been thinking about it for a while, and it's definitely on the list!
      We will do a custom rear bar with a swing out tire carrier.

    Sir ...glad I watched your video ..
    May I ask regarding the rivnut you installed on your jimney....is it necessary to have a backing plate when using rivnuts for more stability or not? I'm planning to copy your roof rack and how you install it..if it's ok ..may I have your permission...thanks

    Thanks for sharing. Im curious, why didnt you drill into the drip molding area. About to start this project myself on my durango. Is there a reason you didnt or was it just because of your measurements? 4:45

    I’ve been thinking about doing this, but going way overkill. Jerry can racks on the back window, roof rack, armored windows (exept for the drivers one because I have a crippling addiction to Burger King), and an armored windshield. I’m not saying it’s practical, but I am saying it’s fun as hecc.

    Where did you get the roof bolts?

  • @rickfletcher8422
    @rickfletcher8422 4 года назад +3

    1 year on, are you happy with the rivnuts for mounting? I have a 4runner so same roof(no gutters) as yours. I was going to weld mounts to the roof as I wasn’t sure about rivnuts then I found your channel. So before I change plans and go that way instead of welding or through bolts are they holding ok? I’m going full length on a 4 runner so will probably do 6 or 8 mounts compared to your 4 on the short vehicle. Cheers

      Sebastian Torres I’ll try, it’s a job low on my priority list at the minute. Have 2 trailers to build first but I’ll definitely try to get back to you👍🏻

      Yo guys! The Jimny us gone, but the rivnuts last a long long time! As far as I know they are still going strong 💪

  • @fPonias1

    was that mounted on the sheet metal or directly into the roof frame? I'm thinking of doing something similar on my Subaru outback that, by some quirk, didn't come with a factory roof rack.

    • @Jukemods
      @Jukemods  5 лет назад +2

      Hey mate.
      Straight into the sheet metal.
      They're strong as hell. I'd only recommend using 1-2 per post. 4 was overkill to say the least.

      @@Jukemods How do you know how strong they are for a dynamic load? I have posted this idea on a metal fabricators sub reddit and people think it is not going to stand up to a dynamic load at all. Have you tested max loads and drove with a kayal at 80 miles an hour?
