Who’d have known another man’s struggles could be so entertaining and funny 🤣 only because I’ve been there myself in the past. Keeping Robbie young though 😂 I’d have had the red mist and started throwing them one by one over the fence cussing all the while. Well done both
Lol Them sheep were like... Dude come on now your stupid bag trick aint gonna fool us today and we aint moving!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dang I was getting annoyed at them too!! Just FYI if Robby stops answering your calls then you know why!! Lol I would of just left the gate open and then threw in the towel and went home! Lol If they were that hungry they would of went to the new field on there own! If not then sucks for them! Lol thanks for sharing hun and Happy New Year!! 😊😊
Have you thought of tying a sheep to the gate to act as a decoy. We have a stretch of shallow water and sometimes that's the only way to get them out of the field and through it. Works a treat!
Well done as a sheep farmer myself sheep will sooner go the opposite direction than you want them to go and yes we have a lot of hardship with sheep farming first one I once bought over friends and the sheep broke out so we went to get them but they broke into a neighbours field which was a maze and we spent 4 hours trying to get them 😰and also I asked if putting sheep in 2 months post to lambing was a good idea in a previous video of yours we tried it snd it’s working but a good few cases of twin lambsies the start of it but nothing major yet and I also recommend that when you put in your sheep do a 50 50 of silage and hay we did it and it’s working great Thanks love the videos and well done on getting 10 k you deserve it and keep making good videos you and Robbie and happy new year
I Did in 1970 . I looked after sheep. I found my self like you . Up too my backside in mud. So I packed my bags and headed across water to England whare I lived for 50 years . Sheep was not for me. But I love looking at you and the sheep. And that butfull countryside Never give up the Irish way hard going
Don't worry, we are all in the same boat and at the moment I do mean boat, fare play to you I think I would have gone plan B, lucky you had Robbie and the dog, once those kids grow a wee bit you will be sorted, well for a couple of years any way, great to see other folks struggling makes you realise your not allow, great video right down to earth, stay lucky
I’ve a similar problem. I’ve no dog and I’ve a load of old ewes that are very slow to move then last year I bought a bunch of ewes that are the craziest sheep I’ve ever seen. So the crazies are the far end of the field and the old girls you have to nearly push them through the gates. You can’t keep them in a bunch at all!!Wicked hardship but you gotta love sheep to put up with them 😂
Comedy gold boys😄😄 that was tough going, nothing as stubborn as sheep when they don't want to go somewhere, tough on the dog too, Robbie is some craic!
You two have a good relationship, Robbie is a great help. Always nice to have someone to talk to and discuss things with , and best of all , someone to laugh with ❤ Feel for all farmers just now with this awful weather,,,,,, and mud !!! Take care and all the best for 2024 🎉
Pure hardship. Bet ye if ye didn’t want them to go out in the gap they would be gone in a shot. Fair play to you both to stick to the task and not loose the head(too much) Happy New Year all the best for 2024
Hi ))) You are not alone. In fact, I bought two very strong pups last spring, and spent all summer training them. They are now just coming along to the point that they can turn back a full grown cow. Shoot, when the mud gets deep, only a dog can work there. Thanks for sharing )))
A "bleeping " good video, I lost count at 6 bleeps😅. So sorry for your mess, I'm not sure I could have done it. Hopefully you'll get some dryer weather and the "ram" is sterile. Thanks from Wisconsin, USA for a great video.
A brilliant video, it just shows how hard you have to graft with your patience being tested to the extreme. I was willing them on every step. Good to show how it paid off. Thanks for sharing
Whew! That must have felt like a marathon. If only the weather would improve and you had your little helpers handy. How is your ankle? Have a wonderful 2024!
Hi David, it’s Glenn keogh here. Just home from a few days like yourself saw your video with lambs trying to get them out a mucky gap you asked did any other farmers have hardship like that (David you better believe it) and at times I’ve had worse. Happy Christmas and a happy new year. Glenn
10 or 15 minutes spent setting up a funnel with hurdles might help. We often ran a couple of culls with lambs but might not work in ground they not familiar with. Pops lacking a fair bit of power but steady enough. All the best wishes for 2024.
Hurdles would definitely have helped but 2 hour round trip to gather them, daylight fading and the last day before Christmas. It was just one of those days...
Same ould craic every where David, a disaster when cattle have a gap poached. Robbie is some man for the craic, Keep it country and a happy new year to ye👍
Been terrible weather. When they start to fan out near a gate and devide into two groups it's impossible .If you didn't want them out they would be out.best of luck for 2024 .
I was just waiting for 1/2 your sheep to go through the gate, then follow the fenceline down the hill, pulling the ewes on your side with them. That seems to be a regular sheep thing to do. Luckily yours just went straight out onto the pasture. I think Robbie's idea of the lower gate might have worked better, but who knows, at least you'd be chasing them on level ground. Hope that ram was a cryptorchid for your sake, then likely sterile.. Happy New Year!
@@sheepschool365 some craic hi that you can be stuck in the mud with your wellies stuck and falling off and still be happy it’s definitely not for the money we do it beef farmer here there is some good sheep channel out there Robbie has great old saying

Yea that’s what we call hardship alright, but it could be worse a few years ago we had 500 ewes on a bit of winter grazing and the place turned to soup in the wet , we actually left grass on it and brought the poor ewes back to the shed a couple of weeks before we intended, basically because I felt sorry for them as they hadn’t had a dry lie for a month and were bogging trying to get around, but the hardship we had getting them in to bring them home was unbelievable two days of muck and mullicin and we had good dogs but they got bet quick in the conditions. This horse never bothered the 3 foot fence between him and freedom. But that's not the best of it. You could put a pole down in the gap for his (open) gate and he would not step over that pole.

Thanks Adrian. Robbie is a Saint. Many a man would walk away from a job like that 🤣
Robbies an inspiration. The humble super hero of the day.

Speaking as a sheep farmer, near Blackpool, England, this is a great channel. It's encouraging to see your challenges too! thanks
Thanks Graham. There's no point showing everything going to plan all the time! This one really shows the reality..

Thank you Linda! Like a marathon physio session for the ankle 😉 Back to about 80%..
A roll of the electric sheep netting , 50 meters ....makes a handy funnel at the gate and might just hold them until one goes through the gate
Would have been a major help..👌
You poor guys! 😕 Here’s hoping the New Year is a much better one for you, and the ground! 🐏🐑🎆🍾🥂Happy New Year!

God Bliss you both and the pup. Muddy gates can be an absolute mess. Keep up the brave front!!! )From a Shepherdess in high desert New Mexico.
Thanks so much 😊 Doubt you have muddy issues like us?
Like the never ending story with all them sad sheep stuck in the mud 😢.
Reasonably happy ending 😁
Happy new year lads ground was never as wet hopefully we will get a good spring to dry it up all the best for 2024
We can only hope for a good spring 🤞

Weather is a farmers friend or enemy. Almost 10k subscribers!
Yes, you are right. Big time enemy at the minute but we'll hope for a good spring..
Great video David I felt your pain there that was hard work but fair play to the both of you getting it done 👌
Thanks Gary 👍
Almost feel like some flexible fence/rope/net between you and Robbie to push them in as they are so friendly

Definitely would help. Should have brought some...

That was a tough move
Not simple 🫣
