    Didn't realise that the cherry tomato type fruits on potatoes were poisonous, thank you for sharing that advice. Soon as I see any flowers I'll snip them off in case the kids see them. 👀 I must say that your videos are educational and I learn something new each time I watch. Thanks again!

    i had one tomato looking thing that holds potato seeds on my Desiree's that i harvested today , and i hear that they do take up to 2 years to grow a spud , but i am going to sow them and in 2 years time i will pull them out let them sprout then re pot them as seed potatoes :)

    Good information again Ivan, what’s your take on removing the flowers so the plant can put more energy in the potatoes. Take care, Michael

    • @ivans-gardening-allotment-uk
      @ivans-gardening-allotment-uk  2 года назад

      Yes you can do that if you have small children or animals as you wont have to worry about the poisonous fruits growing later
      Just take care not to damage the stem if you do this
      Thank you Michael

    Hi Ivan.
    So now I am confused... again!!
    I bought my seed potatoes at Wilco, and it listed all three, so am I right assuming that those seed potatoes could be used for all three type of crops.
    Cos that's what I did!!!!!
    Or am I wrong... again!!
    Many thanks

    • @ivans-gardening-allotment-uk
      @ivans-gardening-allotment-uk  2 года назад

      It should say on the packet
      1st early plant April harvest june
      2nd early plant May Harvest July
      Main crop Plant May Harvest August to October
      if you planted all 3 types at the same time it wont matter you will know they are ready when the flowers drop or plant starts to die back

      @@ivans-gardening-allotment-uk Hi Ivan.
      No, the instruction was that the same seed potatoes were
      1st early, 2nd early and maincrop.
      They had several varieties and some were specifically 2nd early, but these were definitely listed as all 3.
      That's why, on an earlier video, I asked when to add more compost to the pot because the shoots were starting to come through, or whether to wait till they were higher.
      As you say, time will reveal all.
