Oh no, not the Sur Ron! That's my favorite. I hope you get it figured out and fixed soon. Hope it's nothing too serious or expensive. It's a great bike and has handled everything you've done.

I'm sorry to hear about the Sur-Ron but I did warn you about pushing the motor the way you do will have Consequences but I do hope you can sort the problem out
- I think it's your throttle deadband threshold - it might be giving your motor a tiny bit of power after you give it throttle. This is common when the deadband threshold is out of whack. Mine is 0.05v but this can vary from bike to bike. Trying adjusting it by 0.01v intervals until it goes away. Other things to try if that doesn't work: - Run a throttle tune. - Run a motor tune. - Disable regen completely (for testing). - set your power to a lower level and see if it makes a different sound at all. - check all wiring (including phase wires). Jiggle the wires while it's on and see if the noise changes. Could be a loose or shorted wire. - What happens when you give it juice? Does it run normally? Does the motor stutter? If it does stutter then it could be a dead hall sensor, controller problem, loose phase wire or it needs a motor tune. - Have you tried contacting the company that sold you the controller? They might know what it is.
@@MrCentralDriver this can change over time. If it's right on the cusp, then even a tiny bit of water/humidity inside the connector can affect it. Try setting it to a higher value and see if that fixes it (and then let us know - in case other people have this same problem).
@@1a2a53 I tested it on mine. When I went lower (in tiny increments) on the throttle deadband threshold mine made literally the exact same sound. Pushed the deadband threshold back up and it went away again.
I had this happen to mine. Don't know if you washed your bike but...I had just gone for a ride and I sprayed it down then started doing the exact same thing. Took some fans and got to drying it and opened up the throttle housing and it had a bit of water. After everything was dry it all worked perfectly fine..going to be replacing the throttle as that seems to be an issue, with an aftermarket one. You should check out my little build series I have going on here..cheers!
@@MrCentralDriver I would agree. Like I said mine made the same exact noise. So I've got the Magura and Domino throttle on its way..although now it's not doing it but would rather get ahead of the problem.
Check your baseline throttle voltage (voltage when throttle is at rest) and the "deadband" voltage BAC setting. If that deadband is not high enough, the controller could be just barely driving the motor when the throttle is "off", which can cause that noise. If this is the case, sometimes you can torque the throttle away from you to drop the voltage enough and the noise will go away.
Like Chris said put it on a center stand and check your throttle off voltage and try a calibration also Barely twist throttle and get wheel turning and see if noise goes away Throttle off voltage + deadband voltage value = the voltage controller uses to energize current to motor.
Looks like the motor broke just in time. KO motors is now accepting pre orders for their new more powerful Sur Ron motors. I think that would be a nice mod to the bike.
Partly why I never upgraded power on sur Ron. Just use stock motor and controller for extra reliability. Less fun but safer and better for the bike in the long run
Hall sensor might have gone bad, but I don't know, I know nothing about that motor or controller to know if it's using hall sensor/s. I do know on a e-skateboard that sound is usually a bad hall sensor, only reason I suggest the possibility.
does it do the same when u let the rear wheel move , mine does same , think it residual power in the controller or something, but mine doesn't do it if I throttle enuf to make the rear wheel move , hard to explain, but don't give it a tiny bit of throttle, give it a tad more to get the rear wheel moving , if not then I don't know
