I remember coming home from uni every night and F5'ing the shit out of the 3dRealms page waiting for the shareware episode of Duke3D to drop. Took forever to download on my 14.4k modem, but man was it worth the wait. Awesome game which will forever be one of my favourites. Gonna rip 'em a new one!

I loved both Doom and Duke as a kid. But for some reason Doom is much more fun today than Duke. I think we enjoyed Duke more back in the day less for the actual game design and more for the sophomoric jokes. Doom holds up so well because of the game design.
Before the sourceports started appearing in 1999, I used to say that Duke3D was technologically better than DOOM, but after the sourceports came out I stopped saying that and realized that both of these games are equally awesome in terms of gameplay and technology.
I remember that I wanted and bought more ram for our family PC to run Duke 3d. My mom said don't do it, she worried I would ruin the PC. So I did it and played the game and loved it! So when I was glued to the pc she figured out I did it and after she realized I did it correctly she was ok with it. That game was it, I wish forever would have changed "the game" like duke 3d. It was just so lackluster when forever came out, but I bought it because Duke is one of the Best game characters EVER!
they didn't even mention Ken Silverman! that's why you shouldn't go for these "making of" videos, especially if you want to know how things really brought in to life!
I would have if it wasn't so plagued with glitches! 😠 There is no greater frustrations than starting whole levels over again and again because some stupid door doesn't open when it's supposed to, leaving you stuck! 😵 The game is fun to play when it works, but I have NEVER gotten through even a 1 hour play session without multiple problems! 😡

but I believe that randy pitchford and gearbox are gonna bury the Duke franchise for good, gearbox needs to give the franchise to Bethesda, they could get someone to make a great Duke game
Bethesda is burying Doom because they don't understand the series, they would rather make it into a Destiny redo. They wouldn't make Duke Nukem any better.
I was so desapointed in this game, but there where so many things that where awesome and got wasted by manythings that didn't felt right floating around it, there mist have been so many betas and alphas, I'd like to see all the most important things that hapenned on each engines, just to realise how much work went into it and what went wrong.
Why can't they just release the early builds of the game that came out in the late 90s/early 2000s? What harm can they do now that its already come out?
