Absolutely love the Rola platforms. Got the 1.8m Mk1 several years ago when it was about $700. These things had side and top mounting chanels before Rhino Rack cottoned on, and they were 1/3 of the price cheaper. Legends. Survived thousands of km's of travel, hundreds and hundreds of km's offroad travel - and that was before I learned about dynamic roof load ratings!
Any advantage or preference for racks that run east/west vs north/south? I see that some other brands offer racks that ran the opposite way to this one.
Hi Anthony, any idea what the smaller pre threaded holes are for on the mounting blocks? Got mine all built up and fitted to my ridge mount. Was abit dubious on what stops the whole tray sliding on the mounting blocks but seems secure with just pressure alone. Then theres the small 3-4mm or so threaded hole between the mounting hardware holes on the mounting blocks, my setup had no instructions. Wondered if there might have been a grub screw to lock the mounting blocks to the ridgemount.
Hey Anthony cheers for the simple to follow guide. This is most likely a silly question as there’s obviously a simple answer I’m missing but once this unit is attached to the ridge mounts, what stops it sliding as the 6 outer brackets will be bolted to the ridge mounts but wont it just slide along the brackets?

Great to see continuous improvement in action!

The 6 support points clamp down as pressure is applied tightening bolts
@ thought it would be a simple solution. Cheers 👍
