It works great as a personal item for flights, weekender bag, a work bag that you can put in gym gear too. It’s a great multipurpose bag. I have it in X-PAC or else I’d get it in Ultra.
The lime color in the bottom front pocket is helpful for contrast in the smaller space for retrieving items- the grey color in the top front pocket is fine as this pocket opens much more making retrieving items easier
George! Probably one of the best Aer CPP Ultra review that I’ve seen. I purchased this soon after release and it’s probably the most accessible ultra packs available ( no waiting, great price ). This pack is super functional for EDC, short travel and very comfortable to carry. My only ask would be a side carry handle but it definitely exceeded expectations.

I’ve been looking at this bag recently, but in X-Pac as an upgrade to an 18L bag, intended as a “personal item” when flying. Do have an opinion regarding X-Pac vs the Ultra? It stands up on its own quite excellently, if you don't stuff 2 laptops in the back. Yes, you can fit them, but it's not designed for 2 on purpose...

That’s a tough one.. good comparison.. I would go with the AER. The ultra is hard to beat.

Major Flaw. Water bottle pocket. Needs drain holes. If the liquid leaks. It will leak into the main compartment unfortunately.
