This needs to be covered in the Revit Certified Professional exam (it isn’t) as it’s pretty fundamental and can easily get messed up by users who don’t understand how to organise sheets, views, etc.
Gavin quick question on best practice around the browser..do practices usually maintain all stages of the project in a file..ie sketch/design to planning to tender to construction or does it get archived and saved into its own directory once each milestone is hit??? I'd imagine it's the latter no?? just in case planning drawings for example needed to be referred to to check a height or something like that?? Thanks for the video,it's a topic which is not covered enough in detail imo!
Yes I would always encourage the latter - BIM means it isn't usually possible to maintain different drawing states, as this would require different model states at once also. More of an AutoCAD mentality to try to keep old phases in the same model.
@@AussieBIMGuru yea agreed,i only asked because I got a model file the other day over half a gig in size lol,so much stuff crammed in there...i guess the only way we could use the former would be if the introduced the padlock tool much like you can lock viewports in autocad thus removing it from being edited or scheduled etc, would be very counter intuitive though I suppose...Anyway thanks for the great content!!
Hi Gavin, where do you locate callouts, whenever I create one it goes to elevations or plan view or sections depending where I do the callout is there a way to narrow them down? or is it the same by the 3 levels..
I usually locate callouts based on their series. So a facade section called off a main section belongs to the facade series for example. This can be done either using view types, sorting parameters by callout view template or a mixture of them.
This is my old recording setup which was on a wide monitor and taken from a screenshare so resolution isnt great unfortunately. I fix this the resolution around september 2019 and the resolution in february 2020 roughly in my videos.
Thanks Mars tudio, glad you enjoyed it! I hope my other videos help as well - this was one of my first ones when I began, slowly polishing the format and pacing :)

That's very kind of you to say, many like me out there!

I agree! The revit exam is far too basic and doesn't really cover professional best practice unfortunately.
Good explanation, thanks for your job.
Thanks Miguel - you're most welcome!
Muy bueno este canal!!!
