This is partly true. AFO has the effect of Rewind, due to which he simply becomes younger when receiving damage. It's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, he's invulnerable, but on the other, he can become an embryo and disappear completely. This is actually what happened. AFO became an embryo and disappeared.
