Some one posted about their boss cathing a small fish and being amazed it made noise and you commented something about they are the smallest fish to do so , which means, obviously , there are others. Spectacular !! I find this all very interesting , I am ashamed to admit I did not know smaller fish did this, in fact i was under the impression only a few species of larger fish do this , particularly your larger cat fish species . I was , apparently, under the wrong impression, I should say . I have a master's in degree in behavioral science ( fascinates me) but in all my adventures (I am going on 56 yrs old ) I never observed , (or if I did I wrongly assumed the source.)"talking fish" !! I have heard many fish making noises ,"as I removed them from my line , every since I was a young boy fishing the little stream that flowed through our small town in my youth. I always just though it was from my squeezing them and the presence of air pressure and water , you're bound to have some squeaks & chirps . Always thought vocalizing the realm of the marine mammals . This answers a few questions I had pertaining to earlier work & and opened my eyes to an avenue of explanation I was ignorant to before now. Thank you very much . Do you know of any particular species of fish known for being "chatty" ? Have a good day ✌️

Glad to know that you enjoyed this and answered your questions :). These fish come from a very turbid but slow flowing waterway, one theory I've heard is that these chirps allows them to find each other in the low visibility environment. Croaking gourami are also another southeast Asian fish that, like their name implies, makes a sound thats like a tiny frog croaking. I have a video documenting it underwater from a few years back too 😅
