    I think the $800 bass sounds the best.

  • @ThatImmo

    The biggest jump is between Squier and cheapest Fender. Squier is slightly fatter and lacks mids the Mexican Fender has. Nothing a good EQ won't fix.
    I would assume the quality of finish and ergonomics will increase exponentially with price if it weren't for the fact I have played super-cheap basses that were amazing and better feeling than their more expensive counterparts.

      @@3katd Buy a cheap bass.
      Fettle the action. Maybe even pay for a setup.
      A bass with a bad action will put you off fast.
      Tone you can work on.
      I learnt bass on a very cheap 5 string Bass aimed at heavy metal. It had active electronics and everything.
      Sounded OK.
      Fretboard was OK.
      Action was reasonable.
      I'd been a guitarist for 20 years so I had a lot of tolerance to bad actions.
      Overall the advice is always to buy the best instrument you can afford and I'd always factor in £70 for a guitar tech to set it up for you.
      Worth every penny if you're buying a second hand instrument.
      If you buy new it _should_ have been done by either the shop or the manufacturer. It it's below par you should complain to the shop and they will likely set it up for free.
      Luv and Peace.

    The biggest difference between electric instruments across these price ranges will not be in sound, but in feel. You can make any one of these sound much better or worse than another by slightly changing pickup height, tone/volume knob levels, right hand attack, strings, EQ, or most of all, amp (or cab, or sim). But the fit & finish don't lie. There's no guaranteeing a cheap one will be bad and a pricey one will be good, the pricey one just had more minutes of attention from the builder; it's likely had more of its imperfections worked on.

  • @llynellyn

    The funniest thing about this, is that a non bassist just hears the same thing four times. People are legit spending 5K on an "improvement" that 99.9% of their audience can't even hear.

    • @jaykelley103
      @jaykelley103 Месяц назад

      Yeah they all sound fine. The differences between the cheaper ones is in the ergonomics being better and the intonation being better as you go up the tiers. And the 1500 one gets an extra pick up for more sounds. The 5000 one seems silly though. Its even made to look beat up

    I have the squier, mim, and the same performer but with different pickups in them. Yeah they all sound good but the neck on the performer is just so damn smooth its my favorite. They are all good enough to gig with though. Can't get a bad guitar in todays market.

    • @kingdeedee
      @kingdeedee Месяц назад

      @mariomanti-gualtiero1228 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@gl3605No, it definitely would not be. I own that Squier and also a Fender Custom. The Squier is about 1/4” thinner, it’ll never resonate the same. I’ve seen people put more expensive pickups in the Squier and it actually sounded worse. But that being said, I think the Squier sounds really good as is. I use it for rehearsals just so that I don’t have to carry my expensive bass back and forth. I’m quite impressed with the Squier, I’d have no problem gigging with it. But instead of upgrading, you’re much better off just starting out with something better. Part of the attractiveness of the Squier is the price.

    Big jump in sound from the pickups between the Squier to the MIM and then pretty similar. I'd imagine playablitiy and finish is better as you go up in price, but strictly for sound MIM seems to be the sweet spot. Squier sounds good for the money, though. Not a bad option at all.

    Not that there is anything wrong with the Squier (it sounds fine), but everything from the Mexi Fender up sounds superb.
    The real question is: how do those three from the Mexi Fender and up feel to play? That's where the price disparity is going to become evident. Unfortunately, it's not something that's tangible through video.
    TL;DR: even if you like the sound of a particular bass in a RUclips video, ensure you go to your local dealer and play one in person if you can. You might find yourself preferring the Mexi over the Custom Shop, and not just soundwise.

    The Custom shop is not my favorite sound of the group [listening on studio monitors].. It has a lot of bass but not as much articulate definition as the others. The Squier has the most articulation of the bunch, but lacking some of the thickness of the MIM and standard USA. I'm not sure about TODAY'S MIM but in 2017 a side by side with a Squier CV and a MIM, the Squire's feel was better and the sound was at least as good. 2010-2011 were the best years for Squiers and MIM's. I have one of each (jazz) and put Aguilar noiseless pickups in both and worked on the frets. Both will stand up to just bout any bass out there. I also have a Fender USA Pro II Pbass 5er. It's good, but nothing special that can't be matched with less expensive basses. Just sayin'.
