First you have to define attraction. Humans seek healthy humans to mate with. Symmetrical faces, wide hips, full breast, broad shoulders, lush hair these are just a few characteristics that humans hind "attractive" or are good signs of healthy children, easy child birth or protection from threats. Now humans are "attracted" to personality traits as well. Kindness, sharing, forgiveness etc but those traits are secondary when it comes to immediate human needs. But we have evolved and our environment has evolved rapidly. We dont need wide hips for child birth, we have c sections, modern medicine. Or broad shoulders for defense against prey, we have shelter and weapons. Our environment is moving faster than ever. So there will be sone dissonance
I can't recall which class it was, biology or psychology but it is a biological function to be attracted to what what you consider the most attractive, strongest most confident in the group for procreation purposes. I mean no one wants unattractive, weak offspring. In your case, we were always taught psychologically that men tend to be more visual than women and that men like a challenge. Men were always the hunter/gatherers therefore the thrill of the chase may play apart in that as well. If your attraction continues to be strong for the jerk and eventually you get what you want from him, if you lose interest then that's what it is.

Symmetrical faces, wide hips, full breast, broad shoulders, lush hair these are just a few characteristics that humans hind "attractive" or are good signs of healthy children, easy child birth or protection from threats. Now humans are "attracted" to personality traits as well. Kindness, sharing, forgiveness etc but those traits are secondary when it comes to immediate human needs. I can't recall which class it was, biology or psychology but it is a biological function to be attracted to what what you consider the most attractive, strongest most confident in the group for procreation purposes. I mean no one wants unattractive, weak offspring. In your case, we were always taught psychologically that men tend to be more visual than women and that men like a challenge. Men were always the hunter/gatherers therefore the thrill of the chase may play apart in that as well.
If your attraction continues to be strong for the jerk and eventually you get what you want from him, if you lose interest then that's what it is.
