Yes good ones are out there. Unfortunately a couple years ago I found myself having to sell it. A Chevy 1936 sedan delivery with SBC 400, 350 trans and 57 Olds rear end , Street Rod no rust needed finished was painted and upholstered $8500

The best project is the one you have. I'm working on my 2017 Silverado since pretty much anything considered "classic" is priced out of the reach of the average gearhead anymore.

“He said he has the money and wants to do it, but I don’t think he has the money”
The amount of times I’ve had to tell non car people that the 10-20k in savings and credit cards they have won’t cover a restoration.
Almost as bad as the guys who want to buy a “cheap” restoration project to flip, only to find that the $2k car they bought needs 20k to make right and at most will be worth 15k.

1973? The more things change, the more they stay the same? Allow me to demonstrate.

I wanted to buy a 80s or 90s Chevy S10 as a daily driver. However, every time I found one for sale they wanted $10,000 for it even if it didn't run, or was in pieces. I know the S10 was popular in MiniTruckin magazine but I wanted a daily driver. The S10 trucks I found all had the same modifications like shaved door handles and lowered suspension. I had to walk away and I found a 2002 GMC Sonoma for just under $5,000. I didn't like the body of the Sonoma but I really liked the interior and the 4.3L v6 engine. I bought the 2002 Sonoma in 2013 and drove it everyday until February 2023 when I traded in in for a 2016 GMC Canyon. It took me 7 years to find a 2016 Canyon at a good price. I had to drive 3,500 km to get it and drive it 3,500 km home. I want the Canyon to be the opposite of a resto mod by adding old parts to a new truck.

For street rods how about a '32 Ford coupe or roadster. What are those going for now? I have always enjoyed Stacey David's words of wisdom. Always very encouraging to viewers and listeners.

32's are still higher than Model A's, but there are some around for reasonable money.

The right project for me is 5'6" 115# 36C and 25. I know I know she's getting a little old but she'll do for now. When she hits 30 I'll trade her in for a newer model.

I know it'll never be worth anything, but I'm going to try to keep my lifted 94 Explorer for as long as I can. Unfortunately, it's been sitting for a couple years in need of transmission work. Now everything is so super expensive, I just can't do it. I kinda miss going off into the Pine Barrens

Great episode, and I have had a Van and been Vannin like they did back in the 70s since 2000 is when I found it and it was Mini Truckin magazine that had an add for a Truckin but the phone number was Local to me which blew my mind since I lived up in the middle of the Adirondack park so nowhere lol next town over was 20 mile drive. You were on Trucks at the time ad well working on projects that I still remember. So you doing this van is a Big Big deal I have a 2nd gen Chevy with a 327 sbc 202 fuelie heads. I want to slam it but front end with straight axle only so many things and going to like a mustang type ll can be done but like you say it's how far and how much money 💰 we'll that's where I stop because it's alot of money and I'm not completely capable of installing of parts. A lift, welding to that degree ect..

I love muscle cars but I just can't afford same goes for imports back when I was in high school back in 2016 and 17 you could pick up an R34 gtt which is the trim below the Halo GTR for 10 grand now those are $60,000 cars so my only option as a car Enthusiast is to modify what I have and that just happens to be a 2007 Ford Focus

Thanks! Those are two VERY different styles. It depends on how much work you want to do. If you want to spend the time and effort on a ground-up build, go for it! If not, a Camaro is a fine car.

Young Person: "I want to build a classic car!!!"
Old Car Guys: "Oh you silly little dirt child, you can't afford that."
Young Person: *Buys an A-B econobox & builds $4,000 computer instead
Old Car Guys: "Why aren't more young people into classic cars!?!?!?"

      @@OfficialStaceyDavid 100% Agree
Not like we all didn't start with a broke down lawnmower as a first project.
BTW Using your Deluxe Project Planning Book for my 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7, love how writing things down kinda brings it into reality instead of just being thoughts. Currently redoing the entire fuel system all new. Just need the fuel lines currently. Shout out to West Coast Classic Cougar for having the fancy 3 prong sending unit for the XR7's low fuel light.
      Cheers Stacey!!
