You've heard of the Sierra Madre Casino. We all have, the legend, the curses. Some foolishness about it lying in the middle of a City of Dead. A city of ghosts. Buried beneath a blood-red cloud... a bright, shining monument luring treasure hunters to their doom. An illusion that you can begin again, change your fortunes. Finding it, though, that's not the hard part. It's letting go.

Fun fact, theres a few mods across the 3d fallout games where you can get the Storyteller as a companion.
He even has a custom power armor mod in Fallout 4.

People often say siding with Caesar is the worst ending to the game, but there is actually a secret ending where you side with Elijah. The two of you basically destroy EVERYTHING (and I do mean everything) in the Mojave using the technology left at the Sierra Madre.
and in The Big MT, you can make the scientists work for you, even let them conduct their experiments. each DLC has their "Endings" which can be considered not Canon, but still fun to unlock.

Oh do i have some disturbing lore for today!
1 one of the women who tried to see the good in Elijah eventually tried to track him down to kill him after deciding he had gone crazy. She was locked in an auto-doc(robot doctor pod) for 3 weeks as it preformed every surgery it could over and over, it ran out of pain medicine within 6 hours
2 during the building of the sierra madre Sinclairs wife and his best friend planned to steal his money, you can still activate the trap meant for them and lock yourself in the gold vault forever. His best friend is a ghoul who hasn't given up on the gold in over 200 years.
3 in the red cloud there are former construction workers who were supplied hazmat suits. Those suits were provided by big MT and the locks rusted meaning they couldn't take them off and movement was severely hindered.
4 the weapon elijah wanted from Helios exists and the detonator for it is being used as a toy gun by a child on the outskirts of vegas

It's rare that I feel true fear while playing a game that isn't a horror game by nature. The Sierra Madre taught me differently.
yep. i've heard many people moan that you lose access to all your gear at the start of dead money and, i won't lie, i was not best pleased the first time i encountered it. but it's a really fun and challenging change up from the regular stuff so i enjoy it quite a lot.

The Storyteller is the sort who actually has morals and understands the mistakes of the past. Especially the Sierra Madre, To Let Go. Unless your the courier then its escaping with bars of gold and maybe maybe not doom all of your companions. But hey BARS OF GOLD!

@@UltimateGamerCC Sadly in Dead Money, Sierra Madre's Disaster other than red cloud is entirely caused by Dean Domino's obsession to not let go of Sierra Madre's treasure due to his jealously of Sinclair's happiness.

The Sierra Madre is without a doubt one of the scariest places to me in all of video games. Its atmosphere is just impeccable.

yup, i love it, takes a Survival Horror approach. tbh i consider it strongly underrated, it's not perfect, but it's not horrible either, just not easy for someone who's used to walking the wastes like a God, unloading the most powerful death-dealing tech for easy victory, instead you gotta play it smart, fight like a Dog when you need to. ;)

Premise of the DLC: to let go
Every Fallout New Vegas player: I NEED THAT GOLD!!!!
We've all been to the Sierra Madre casino. We've all felt the fear from the Ghosts, we've all felt the need to cart away all that gold... we've all lost our hearts in the Madre.
We're supposed to let it go, but the memory still hurts. And worse, the casino still stands. So tempting to cross the wastes to brave the Cloud, if it means we could get our heart back. Or get all that gold, because Uncle Sam's boxer-briefs, that was so much gold.
Even then, we know what obsession will do to us, what the Casino WILL do to us. That place takes all that it can and never lets go, with so precious few exceptions; because it's supposed to take our woes and joys, our failures and successes; our heart. Maybe one day it could change and we go back to get what we lost, but we may lose more than we lost prior. No matter how much it hurts to say, It may just be better to let go.
To just let Her go...
When i first watched this, i was floored that the storyteller was a charater in the narrtive. It was perhapes the most epic rug pull he dose in all of the storyteller episodes!

Ah the sierra madre good times…good times…except for the part we’re you are captured and have a bomb collar on that’s ready to detonate with a crazy ex-brotherhood of steel leader who is obsessive finding lost technologies in the casino filled with poison gas,monsterous people and hologram with laser sound your gooood adventure haha
So now things are going to change quite a bit from simply explaining fallout, the series takes on their own plot while continuing to integrate fallout lore within the plot.

ah Dead Money, I didn't like playing it (because the survival horror mechanics felt weird) but the story/drama bits are SO GOOD!
btw Fallout has a long tradition of picking up cool dog companions, thought you guys might like that tidbit

Elijah is brilliantly written villain and Sierra Madre have amazing atmophere but the DLC as a whole is just horrible. The place is a deathtrap, filled with hard to kill enemies, traps and environmental hazards (the red cloud) where resources are scarce. Also you lose all your equipment when getting there and you cannot leave until the whole thing is finished. It's also worth mentioning that storywise your character becomes a slave with a bomb collar on his/her neck and is forced to do stuff. Not what I call a fun experience.
It should be noted thst Elijah is the 1st and only non-Paladin to become an Elder. Given Elijah's actions, it's unlikely that another non-Paladin will ever make Elder.
some dont like the Sierra Madre DLC of Fallout New Vegas, i dont mind it personally. it forces you to play the game differently than you probably have up to that point, having you go hand to hand and preserve what ammo you have for when you're in deep trouble, taking a Survival Horror route in gameplay. not to mention there are great rewards awaiting someone brave/crazy enough to go after it.
he might not been the main character, but he does have his own story.
but i wont spoil it, because thats a story for another day.

Dead Money (Fallout NV dlc, where the Sierra Madre comes from) is one of the few dlcs that ever made me feel like "Wow, the story it's so good and it was actually fun in the end! Not playing this again EVER again tho".
It's just a NIGHTMARE to go through, no matter how high level you are or how much of a pro you think you are at the game, that place it's just evil! There's no amount of money I could be payed to play that on hard mode, I was already lucky to be able to finish it in the first place 😂
The story of the Sierra Madre casino would make a FANTASTIC movie or TV show.
Frederick Sinclair, a wealthy businessman, came to the conclusion that nuclear war was approaching. So he went to the researchers at Big Mountain and asked them for technology to build a massive casino and resort town of his own design. The scientists agreed, selling him the security holograms and matter recombinators, along with a climate control system that, unknown to Sinclair, was intended to fail after a certain amount of time, in a way that would produce a deadly airborne toxin. Sinclair began work on the Sierra Madre, marketing it to the world as the place to "let go" of all your troubles, your worries, and your past. But secretly, Sinclair was building a combination vault/bunker under the casino. He couldn't let go of his fears.
During construction, Sinclair's friend, the singer Dean Domino, introduced him to a movie star named Vera Keyes. Sinclair was immediately smitten and they entered a relationship. He was so enthralled by her that he made Vera's voice the biometric key that could open the vault. Later, Sinclair discovered that Vera and Dean were planning on robbing the vault. So he turned the vault into a trap for the two of them. Vera, however, could not maintain the lie, and without any prompting from Sinclair, confessed that Dean had blackmailed her into helping with the robbery plan from moment they met. Sinclair, distraught, locked Vera in her room in the casino while he went underground to change the security protocol in the vault. His new plan was to modify his trap to only catch Dean, while Vera would be kept safe in her room above (it was built strong enough to survive as long as it wasn't directly hit by a nuke). He succeeded, but the ventilation system had already begun to fail, and he died in a maintenance corridor. His skeleton can be found there in game, carrying the spiteful message to Vera that he placed in the vault but removed after she confessed.
The bombs fell on opening night, and the casino's security system locked down. Every guest there died except for Dean, who was turned into a ghoul by the radiation. Vera was still locked in her room, and an automated emergency message was intended to go out, instructing people on how to enter the casino and save her. However, in a cost-saving measure, the opening night gala's advertising message was also being played on the emergency frequency, and it has continued playing across the radio, with Vera's voice inviting people across the wasteland to the Sierra Madre casino, where they can "let go... and begin again". Meanwhile, Vera herself was dying in her casino room, screaming at the security camera for Sinclair to "Let me go!"
Two centuries later Father Elijah of the Brotherhood of Steel discovered "The Big Empty" (Big Mountain, now known by their abbreviation Big MT, pronounced as "empty") which led him to the Sierra Madre, a pre-war structure almost perfectly intact thanks to being surrounded by The Cloud (the toxins from the ventilation system, having had two centuries to build up) and patrolled by security holograms that can't be directly harmed. Using bomb collars taken from Big MT, he hatched a plan to pull of the heist Dean had planned so long ago, only he doesn't want the gold. He wants to use the Cloud and the holograms to make himself ruler of the Mojave. He captures a group of survivors using the radio as a trap and puts bomb collars on you:
Dean Domino, who can't let go of his desire for the gold, even two centuries later.
Christine, a BOS member who can't let go of her personal revenge quest against Elijah himself.
Dog/God, a Super Mutant with multiple personality disorder who can't let go of his need for a Master.
And you, the Courier, who couldn't let go of the promise of wealth from the radio.
Your group successfully infiltrate the casino and use Christine, who has her vocal cords surgically altered (against her will, and quite painfully) to make her voice a match to Vera's, to open the vault. There, you discover hundreds of gold bars, and must trick Elijah into meeting you in the vault. If you can sneak past him, he will trigger the trap himself, reading a terminal entry labeled "Sinclair's personal accounts" which he believes will tell him how to control the casino's tech, but is actually a note to Dean telling him that he knows about Dean's treachery, and by reading the note the reader has locked himself inside the vault, never to be opened again.
It is possible for all of your companions to survive, but only as long as you all follow Vera's advice from the very beginning.
"Let go... and begin again."
Technically Caesars Legion views Caesar as a hero. Bringing order and justice. So anyone can be a hero... No matter what evil they do.
As cool as the Sierra Madre is, the dlc that you have to play to even get there is absolutely awful 🤣

The only reason Dead Money doesn't surpass Honest Hearts as my personal favorite New Vegas DLC is Joshua Graham. That DLC was epic and awesome all at once.
@@MandalorianRevan thats fair. Graham is an excellent example of how to write, and introduce (very, very slowly lol) a fascinating and thought provoking character.
This DLC is the only one that has really sticked with me, still got old world blues and lonesome road left
