Rarau Mountains - Climbing on the Lady’s Rocks - Pietrele Doamnei (Bucovina, Romania)

- The Pietrele Doamnei (the Lady’s Rocks) are the main attraction of the Rarau Mountains (East Carpathians) and represent a group of limestone rocks with imposing shapes. In the top area of the Rarau Mountains, next to the Pietrele Doamnei, within a protected area that stretches over an area of 253 hectares, there are other tourist attractions represented by the peaks of Rarau, Popchii Raraului, Piatra Soimului and the rocky wall Piatra Zâmbrului (600 m length and 100 m height).
The name of these places is linked to several legends. According to the most well-known, Mrs. Elena (the wife of ruler Petru Rares, from whose name the name of the massif, Rarau, would come from; until then it was called Todirescu) and her son Stefanita, in 1541, being pursued by the Tatars, took refuge in a cave at the top of the mountain. While they were praying, a loud noise was heard and a group of rocks collapsed, burying both the Tatars and the ruler's wealth. Lady Elena would have said "This is the payment for our salvation" and, since then, the rocks have been called "Lady's Stones", and the treasure is still hidden under the huge rocks.
Pietrele Doamnei (1648 m) has a ruin-shaped relief, made up of a group of Mesozoic limestone towers encrusted with corals and ammonites, with heights from below 10 m to over 70 m, surrounded by a mass of boulders of varying sizes.
Near the rocks, at 1538 m altitude, is the Rarau alpine hotel.
Ținuturi de baladă avem în țara noastră și mai cu seamă in Bucovina. Sunt mândru și deosebit de bucuros pentru că am lucrat și eu la această cabană motel in 1974 pe o macara. Și oameni erau pe măsură locurilor acestea. Îmi amintesc că într-o zi, un alpinist că altceva nu putea fi din Câmpulung sa urcat deasupra pe acestă piatra triunghiulară și striga la noi oamenii de la cabană și a făcut câteva tumbe până a ajuns la margine acestui triunghi, după care sa ținut cu o mână de ceva și și-a dat drumul rămânând agățat doar cu o mână și țipa cât putea. Noi ne-am speriat am crezut că vrea să se omoare, dar după vrio jumătate de oră a venit la noi și nu părea nimic în neregulă cu el. A fost un spectacol adevărat pe care l-am văzut.

Foarte frumos, păcat ca nu am putut sa mai urc, am rămas jos la cabana, la 60 de ani e greu(pentru mine)
@@LucianIonescu ok nu e vorba de vârstă am zis asa. Dar eu fost sportiv(atletism) acum merg greu am dubla ruptura de menisc apa la genunchi lichid sinovial disipat, bursita la piciorul stâng am forțat și acum ma doare și piciorul drept. Am 1,82 m și 115kg.Va doresc sănătate și sa va bucurați de viata indiferent cât de grea este👍
