He taught me lots too! I was blown away by his work nothing holds him back In fact he hast to problem solve so many situations that I bet his mind is better developed than most fabricators. He thinks in more dimensions
When your struggling and loosing your mojo, think about Chris in his wheel chair! Just goes to show what you can do if you put your mind to it... Great video...Gonna get on with my car now.
You have to adapt to the situation you're in & Chris has got it pegged no problem by the looks of it. Hats off to him, he builds nicer cars that some people who are able bodied.
That thing doesn’t hold him back at all! He gets more work done than I do lol I’m sure it’s easy to make excuses in that situation but he sure doesn’t!
What a Kool episode of Make It Kustom! A excellent opportunity to feature the new planishing hammer, meet a new friend, and fellow fabricator, visit old friends, and road trip to enjoy new sights with the wifey! Nice one Karl.
Glad you made a road trip in a van nice and simple not much money just the two of you! Making a new friend and seeing old ones and site seeing ! Great video
I realize this was awhile ago but I'm catching up on your old videos. It's great watching you stand there like a dad watching his baby walk for the first time.
See the world does hold a few special people who are and will go out of their way to help someone. Gives me faith. Super people with great talents and a little pinch of kindness mix in.
I am also a wheelchair user that builds stuff in my shed, good to see that others do and find solutions to keep it happening. Pity I am on the wrong side of the world to have access to guys like you two.
That's an awesome thing you did man! I gained a tremendous amount of respect for you in this video. I always admire someone with a hard work ethic and you took it to another level with showing your character in this video. Love the content man.
The quoquahalla is usually covered in snow and has Jamie Davis recovery at work when we watch that part of the country on TV, That fellow Chris sure does some nice work considering that he has to work twice as hard to get it done.
Great video man! Chris seem like a great guy really cool you brought him one of your hammers and looks like he's learning how to use it well. Seemed like a Great trip take care man👍👍👍
You've got to pull that steering wheel and turn it to make it right, that would drive me nuts. lol I thought it was great of you to go on a trip to help Chris out. 2 points to you on that one. Very cool that he figured out how to make the hammer work for him Later
@@MakeItKustom Lol I think guys are talking about the spokes of the steering wheel being way off from the T position driving the OCD crazy. Sounds like you may have a defective or plugged PCV Valve if the oil smell stopped by loosening the oil fill cap. What you guys did on this trip to deliver the hammer to Chris shows you are both such special people. A selfless act and gift of time, a character so rarely found these days, especially in the last few years. Btw any chance Christina likes hash browns with her Ketchup… Lol 😂 This video of you both was Awesome.
Karl truly is a stand up guy, he and I have talked quite a few times and he has always been super nice and helped answer any questions Iv had and shared knowledge with me. Honestly one of the coolest guys Iv talked to in the car industry.
@@MakeItKustom that’s true, but we all know there are quite a few guys out there that think their shit doesn’t stink. I like to help someone with some advice if they need it, also like just talking shop…
I have two Uncles who are now in their 80s, born "handicapable" and each worked all their lives, one a artist the other a mechanic of vintage vehicles. I've always been extremely proud let alone hold them high as my role models. *as a side note, one makes some badass hooch! Family tradition.
That's really good of you Karl to drop that plashing hammer off to your client Chris. Man chris has some nice vehicles and a beautiful shop. He lives in paradise for sure. I like that plashing hammer its a nice little tool which will come in handy for any body man. Definitely if you can suspend the hammer in the air so you don't have to hold it yourself it will be so much easier to use for sure. That's the only way to go about it. What's that saying again " Necessity is the mother of invention."
So awesome of you to make the delivery and give him a tutorial !! I am beyond impressed with his skill set and overcoming the challenges that he faces on a daily basis and how about him flipping the car over & suspending the hammer ? Genius !! Thanks for taking us along for the ride & your wife is badass too !
Really enjoy your channel and stoked you got the van going and using it. Beautiful country..good people, talented people, living the life! Does anyone else think Chris looks alot like the Scottish actor Robert Carlisle? Anyway thankyou for the great work.
Chris’s garage, cars, and set-up caused me significant envy… very cool and clearly quite talented builder! Nice job guys. Now bring the van to our house and teach me to weld.
Awesome brother 👏 I never seen that year red Pontiac before. Good to see you guys got out and spent time with mother nature and recharge the soul in God's country 🙏 nothing compares 🙏.
Sweet! I'm a van guy too. First van was a 93 g20. Road trip van is an 01 e350 7.3. Camping van is an 03 e350 7.3 4x4. I'm a cancer survivor with chemo or gvhd damaged lungs(on o2). All my tools are on carts and I have the 400 # overhead hoist on homemade track system. The track is small chanel iron welded back to back. The trolley is two offset plates with 6203 ball bearings. Great video!
Man I feel like he helped me out more than I helped him. He could’ve definitely made a hammer from scratch in his sleep but instead chose to reach out and buy this one I was happy to drive it to him and meet the master
Hi from France! I discovered your channel a few days ago and I've have been watching the one vid after the other ever since, I LOVE your work and the way in which you explain things - the camera work is also tip-top!
There’s very few videos about how to fix roofs that are oil canning like this, and it’s an absolutely nightmare for an amateur to try and fix so was very interested to watch this and in particular, how you read the panel and tackled. Please more videos like this! Love your work
Thats awesome. Maybe if he welded a loop on the balancing point of the hammer he could support some of the weight with a heavy bungie off a gantry or his lift. Keep up the good work!
Love your videos! One of the cool things I like about the videos is that you and your lady are real people down to earth. You're just doing what you loved to do keep the passion. Great Videos!
Thanks for noticing Justin! This is our life and our passion and now RUclips is our home. The community here has been amazing we hope to stay for a very long time
Odd that this vid should pop up after my recent comment on the planishing kit, but how on earth has Chris managed to get so far into that build, I feel he should maybe have his own channel it would be so inspirational to others.
Seriously man! I was looking around going how the hell would I do this in his situation but man he figures it out. Gets so much work done. He’s a hell of a builder!

I really love this idea and I hope that we can make it happen we have actually talked about it already. I haven’t contacted anyone but I would love to do a bit of travelling for this kind of content!
Great content I loved it. Good onya Chris for letting nothing stop you doing what you like and good on you for helping him out. PS its great when the wife has the same interests as you. Good on her as well. Keep up the awesome channel
Hell yeah agreed on all that Chris blew my mind with his fabrication. You’re a full chromolly Chassis custom snowmobile as well he built from scratch. The Chassis of the Model A was exceptional as well
Wouldn't mind some footage of what goes into the forming of the different shapes of the planishing hammers and the fine-tuning of the dies. Looks like you had it quite cozy in the struggle bus on the maiden road trip.
All the hoops are made by a CNC bender at a local shop. The rest of the profiles are machines locally as well I build the jigs and weld everything together. We are going to include some footage of building the hammers in the release video
That was a standup thing you did, really cool.
Yes, just show how nice Carl is in helping people with his skill. I appreciated him sharing it here on RUclips. Legend for sure.
Just a win-win man!
that does not mean when we are in a wheelchair that we can do nothing ..thank you for helping chris very nice action from your side
