Top water Flathead- Fishing with bent minnows

- In another first for me I try topwater flathead fishing with bent minnow style lures and I tell you what, they are amazingly effective and a hell of alot of fun to fish. We mostly target the shallow flats around the top of the tide when the fish move up to feed, if you haven't before you should give this technique a try.

I have no idea how or why he was struggling so much they are awesome cutters. I could feel every one of those shakes, he’s definitely not gonna make a fencer
@@DanWebberFishing here's a thought... do you think the bend minnow would go good on cod? I've recently got a few after watching a bit of flathead stuff, I reckon they might fool a few cod.
@@DougKelly2828 I ran one on a recent trip with the boys but it was a fairly tough bite and we only got the one boof off the top on a paddler so it wasn’t really a good test for it. I will definitely be testing them some more. I’d like to give them a run on a river like the Ovens river

Yeah it was great, the hook was only temporary pain although it did throb for a few days afterwards but not enough to slow me down.
OUCH!!!!, I love topwater fishing with Bent minnows. 90cm fathead my PB. 42cm bream. you can't beat the take on top water.
Yeah a bit painful but I was glad I could pull it out and keep on with the session. 90cm flatty and 42 bream are seriously good fish that’s awesome. It is so much fun especially when you see them race up and have a crack.
according to the insurance add, you are meant to launch the boat doing at least 20km/h in reverse, maybe you need to practice this a bit more because there's nothing wrong with the fishing skills.

Have you tried or thought of trying the large bent minnow for cod.
I’ve definitely been tinkering with it, no success yet but I’ll keep at it and see if they will raise them.

It is a very healthy waterway these days, it went through a bit of a slump many years ago but it’s definitely fishing well these days. Cheers mate 🎣

Yeah that was a bit rough. I’m not 100 percent mate but if it’s like chasing Murray Cod then they will still be very effective in the dirty water.
Dude use a pair of plier to de hook your fish 😂
Yeah a bit of complacency cost me here thats for sure. (And maybe because the boys hadn’t put the pliers back in their spot for the 10th time that day 😆)

@@SouthCoastChompers i definitely don’t have to explain then. I love fishing with them but they can test the patience
