@CasualDude it's not only about Europe as a continent: countries can participate to the eurovision only if their broadcasting system is member of the EBU. Many years ago Morocco regularly participated to the Eurovision for this exact reason. The EBU is the european broadcasting union, hence the majority of the countries are european. Never mentioned the EU.

Unfortunately because America is so big and a lot of what’s popular around the world comes from the US, most people in my country don’t know very much about the rest of the world. But at the same time, many modern music genres like rock, jazz, and rap were invented in America, so I think people assume music from other countries would have more traditional sounds. The popularity of K-Pop is changing some of that, but slowly.

Ukrainian singer actually has a problem with her lungs, that prevented her singing rock, she was singing at the begining of her career.
She found a way to sing in a traditional way, eventually fully embracing traditional singing.
Most likely this is why she doesn't move much, as it is much harder to keep singing during dance number.
The group was actually harshly criticized because of that, during national selection, as Eurovision "expects a show" on the stage. The group even said that they'll all learn to dance instead of her, if this will be necessary, which they kinda did.
I think this all came out perfectly. Modern ethno singing with a tiny skinny woman standing, and tribal rite around her, creating the feelling of raw power with no BS. She still does her part throwing all the energy in voice and that chilling stare.

San Marino is not an island, is a super small state (the dimensions are the ones of a small city) inside of Italy, and every single year during Eurovision Wikipedia has to protect its page because all the italians go to slander it and threaten its invasion since San Marino which is literally *inside* us never gives us the 12 points. (during the votations every country announces which other country to give their 12 points)
For example this year before Wikipedia protected its page the official language of San Marino was changed from italian to french since they had the guts to give their 12 points to France who were our biggest opponent.

They started in the streets in 2016, won X-Factor in 2017, made their official debut and first albums in 2018-19, won the Sanremo Music Festival in 2021* and now they won Eurovision. It's unbelievable how much they've done in just 5 years.

A bit shaky on the facts. You don't have to be from a country, you just have to be chosen by a country to perform. Celine Dion sang for Switzerland once. There have been several Americans that have performed in Eurovision but they weren't as well known as Flo Rida. You can win multiple times in a row it just hardly ever happens. It has nothing to do with the EU, it's organized by the EBU. The big 5 pay the most so they can start straight in the final but it's not really an advantage.

So, Eurovision is the oldest tv competition show in the world has more viewers than the Super Bowl. Between 180 to 200 million people are watching this show each year.
To be part of Eurovision the countries have to be part of the European Broadcasting Union or an associate to the EBU. So, the countries don‘t have to be specific in Europe. That’s why countries like Azerbaijan, Israel and even Australia are participating.

"A lot of countries sent the same performers": Italy didn't. 2020's Diodato was marvelous.

@@lorenzoamato953 Yeah there were a few that didn't. Marketa was disappointed that Czech sent the same person, I guess not being aware of the situation. I didn't see Italy's 2020 but I'll check it out!

Kinda funny that the guy on the right was wearing a Johnny Cash t-shirt. Should’ve reacted to Belgium, lol

I LOVE THAT YOU REACTED TO THIS! Born and raised in the US, have spent the last 10 years in Europe and am Eurovision obsessed. Genuinely, watch the whole final on Peacock (in the US). It was incredible... possibly best ever.

would be nice if you could also react to Gjon's Tears - tout l'univers performance. He's from Switzerland and placed 3rd. He has the most insane vocals!
