I remember almost dying of fear when I saw the ghost in the basement. The way the series just completely ignores it makes it so much better than playing a loud sound
Karma_Banana Yesssss... the only one I think I noticed (because it was the type of scene I was expecting it to happen) was during the thunderstorm when Liv was going through the bedrooms upstairs. Right before the boy in the wheelchair shows up and she goes all possessed.
Imagine getting the role of one of these ghosts and YOURE just desperately trying to find yourself and you’re like “I was in that room, I think that was me.” Or like “WAIT WAS THAT ME I COULDNT TELL”
Lol wait wait here's my part... Blinks for 0.1 blurry seconds. I swear that was my head! That's the scene they picked? They made me redo my part for 7 hours! 😂 😂 😂
in episode 6, when Liv inspects the rooms (before opening door for wheelchair ghost), I've noticed that statue's head in the hallway is turned in her direction for one shot, then goes back to normal in another. I'm sure there are other hidden ghosts in that episode.
I think thats the point, they weren't there for you to notice, but your subconscious probably picked them up and made you feel more unsettled than you probably would have been if they weren't present at all!
@@WeeScottishLass that’s probably true. Our brains probably saw silhouettes and faces but didn’t fully believe it was real. Making us feel more scared subconsciously.
I love horror shows/movies with subtle haunts like this. No jumpscares or music. Reminds me of the scenes from "Hereditary" with the naked cult worshippers standing around the house that you can only see if you look hard, or the mother on the cieling toward the end of the film.
I felt like the haunt was more aggressive than most horror movies. Usually in ghost movies you see a flash of the ghost and then it's gone but in this show the first time you see Nell instead of vanishing when Steve learns she's dead when he turns around and she gets up in his face and starts screaming. Most of the ghosts in the show are rather aggressive and confrontational they rarely just jump in and scare you then vanish
The man fixing the clock in the first episode was a ghost. At the end of the final episode all of the ghosts (minus Nell, Abigail, and the Craine parents) come to the front room to watch Steve leave for the last time.
Nothing is more scary than dedicating yourself to hunt for these ghosts on rewatches and STILL having a video show you more after you think you've found them all
Tho i didn't noticed all of them as an editor myself i always knew they were there whenever they do a wide shot with no cuts the background is always staring back at you. great cinematography
I too only noticed the statues' heads. It was that scene that made me realize there seemed to be hidden easter eggs and got me searching after finishing the show. I'm not disappointed!
I’m so mad, I just finished watching again (4th or 5th time) and STILL missed almost all of them even though I told myself I was gonna focus on catching them this time! I am seriously considering rewatching immediately just to try again?? Is that ridiculous?? 😭
Cassandra Davis i only noticed Nell’s ghost in the funeral room and it was kind of sad because she was watching her family watch her dead body. Made me more sad than scared
When the mom is walking around in her "sleep" before the storm and the dad tried to catch up to her the stone statues in the hallway moves their head in between the camera swaps :) Only thing i found myself:)
I think that the rhyme that Poppy sings is an explanation to how the family died in Hill House who just so happen to be he people who are haunting the house. EDI: The fact that there are ghosts that are just there as a secret appearance is cool how it shows that the family is always being watched
A part of me is very thankful, for this video...the other part of me would rather re-watch the entire season and see how many I can find, this time around.
I'm rewatching the series after this video, focusing on catching ghosts, since I know the story, and I think I spotted another one already, not mentioned on this video. Chapter 1, at 14:37 mark, when the parents are cuddling Nell on the sofa, because she's scared of the Bent-Neck Lady, just after her father kisses her goodnight, you can see a white shadow past through the windows behind them, that I think it's another ghost.
I dont know if it counts as a ghost, but one of the statues has a completely different pose between camera pans. It is looking across the hall at first, but as Olivia checks the rooms in the hallway, and the camera pans back, you can see that it is then looking straight at Olivia. 41:10 of Episode 6.
I only figured the one with Luke on the phone only because he reacted to it.. and the one where Olivia roams around the house at dark when a statue stares at her
I only saw the lady behind the plastic sheets in the basement in one of the earlier episodes. After that I was trying so hard to see any and all ghosts, noticed alot of them but now I realize I missed SO MANY.
There a quite a few that were missed. :/ . 1:23 you missed one, there IS 3 but the third ghost you saw closest to the stairs is actually just a statue. the actual 3rd ghost (the blonde girl in the black dress and white collar commonly seen) is to the left of the stair case but in the shot you pulled it from shes blocked by the stairs missed one at 2:35 too, you see the full body of a ghost before that clip with just the hand. . also keep in mind some of these ghosts appear more than once and have their own unique backstories. (Just sayin cuz they were presented as separate ghosts every time) . The 4:45 "bald man" I think is actually the same woman with all white hair, as she appears solely in the basement. (I may be wrong but i haven't seen her anywhere else.) . and you missed one (in episode 3) where young theo goes to bed not sure the timestamp but behind her is the old woman sitting in a chair or standing or something. but you definitely see her. . Also my sister says there are even hidden ghosts in the present, such as in shirlys morgue or the background of the beginning scene with steve and that woman talking about her dead husband (who you may see as a shadow walking in the background) but i'm not sure about that one because every hidden ghost has been still standing. but she says its all ghosts retaining to the current story. such as the woman shirly was embalming or something may appear in later in the same scene. . also some background ghosts are the crains or dudleys because that time thing. Such as 1:18 in stevens room, thats old hugh crain. some woman in a black dress (possibly 2:25 or even 2:28) may be mrs dudley as well. there's a lot of these actually. keep an eye because you may recognize a few as your favorite mrs crain. . and you know how nells ghost when seen by her siblings is seen in the last outfit they saw her wearing? Maybe that's how it is with their ghosts. We may have seen some ghosts that were the crains or dudleys in the last outfit we saw them in alive previously in the episode. (just a theory) . i'm sure there were more missed, these are just off the top of my head. you never know with this show. every time you watch through you find a new one!
I am rewatching the series and really looking for the ghosts now, Thanks for this video (yes it is 5 years later) now I can check if I missed any after every epsiode.
There's something I noticed in episode 6 that wasn't mentioned here, not sure whether anyone else has noticed it. When Olivia and Hugh are searching for Nell who went missing, Hugh says that he's going to check the kitchen and the library. Then we follow Liv who enters a room with a statue positioned next to it, and when Liv leaves the room, we see that now the statue actually turned its head towards Olivia, like the crying angel statue from Doctor Who.
When Liv is looking for Nell in "Two Storms" when she walks in the room and a hall statue is facing away from the door. When she steps back in, the statue is facing her.
I remember seeing that I was like know I am not just imagining things at first but once I saw that again I was like man I knew it . And also the woman in the basement on the corner looking like like the woman in the movie of the nun
This is why i watched the show so many times. My ass somehow missed the new spotted areas. I already seen some of them. But I be missing the blurred background ones and the little noticable faces. The basement scene had me pause the show as a "Found it." moment.
Episode 1 - The ghost that you said was the bent neck lady wasn't. It was poppy and the 3 in the hallway is just 2 as the pale one is a statue in the other room.
I legit didnt notice a single one. I heared that the bly manor will have some side views with ghost etc and i thought is a new feature to the series xd
In episode six, when everyone is going crazy about Nell being missing, when Liv is entering a room, a statue is looking straight forward, but when she leaves it’s looking at her. In the same scene there’s an old lady on a bed, in one of the rooms she enters. You actually show that clip at 5:02
Im pretty sure old lady in 3:35 is meant to be seen as part of whata going on, unlike all these other "just hanging arounds" which literally gave me little heart attacks each time I spot them.
You still missed some ghosts. In episode 1 when they are running down the stairs, there is a 4th female ghost standing on the lift side of the stairs. So you missed that one, i'm sure there are more that you've missed.
At least some of the ghosts had to be annoyed no one saw them but couldn’t really do anything about it because some ghosts just kinda have to sit there quietly. But it’s probably kinda fun hiding places that normally would be hard to reach if they weren’t ghosts.

When Liv is looking for Nell in "Two Storms" when she walks in the room and a hall statue is facing away from the door.
When she steps back in, the statue is facing her.
In episode 6, one of the statues moves its head to the other side when Olivia is checking the rooms for Nell.
I think that is the most amazing thing ever to have hidden ghosts in every episode. It's like a little Easter egg hunt
Oh man I was so focused on the subtitles that I missed like 80% of those :/
