  • Civil 3D 2019 appears to utilize the wrong assembly pieces when creating Intersections. It is stretching the Sidewalk Lines across the subdivision instead of stretching the road to match the centerlines. This video shows how to remove the broken targets and set up the correct ones.

Why someone would give a thumbs down to someone who is pointing out a defect in the software seems odd to me. This isn't the only defect in C3D 2019. If you haven't tried them yet, Kyle, try making some simple custom subassemlies in Subassembly Composer (SAC) and watch how messed up C3D gets! Renders the software useless....cascading failures, crashes, garbage data, random targets get renamed, stations for targets aren't acquired correctly, object viewer crashes between 50-100% of the time on open and on touching the view cube, derivative data such as corridor surfaces cause Feature Line tools to generate Terrabytes of random data. This is hands down some of the crappiest software I have ever used. It's unfortunate that AutoDesk is an "industry standard". If there was an option that wasn't based on AutoCAD, I would have bailed years ago.

We are the only people who pay to be Beta Testers! It also appears that on the straight sections of the through road that Civil 3D is messing up the targets as well. Sometimes it targets the Outside Lane, Sometimes the inside lane and sometimes the Sidewalk offsets. I have never had it function this poorly before. However 2019 is still better than 2016

Being new to civil 3D, have you any advise to achieve the skill set/level you have Kyle? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

The best option would be to take a formal training course, where you sit in a classroom and work through the exercises with an instructor. You will be able to go into more detail about Civil 3D in that case. If that is not possible, the ASCENT Civil 3D training books, Master Civil 3D training books, or an online service would be your next best bet.

Any update as to why the create intersection tool tends to assign the curb return fillet targets to the wrong subassembly? I can manually fix in the corridor properties as your video has shown but with a project that contains lots of roads and intersections it can be quite time consuming removing the targets assigned to the urban sidewalk sidewalk subassembly and then reassigning them to the lane subassembly.

@@13srodriguez1 Yup. It is still bugged and has been for years!

@@KyleEvansCivil This was the fix "Edit the assembly properties and click on the construction tab. Right click the group which contains your Lane and choose move up. Make sure it's at the top of the list." So far that has fixed it for me
