No way in the world you would have thought after all these years Arlovski would still not only be fighting, but still be relevant and still in the UFC. What a career he's had!
The contracts most of these veteran heavyweights got was pretty good too. Arlovski is still getting paid 200k+ before win bonus to fight random dudes on the prelims. Should be more of course, but compared to what most UFC fighters make, it's solid.
Yeah really, I recall the moment his chin got a permanent dent and he then couldn't take a punch (against Tim Sylvia) anymore. He then would still beat the shyte out of guys or get ko'd. Then he got more crafty and learned to use his defense better. He's savvy old vet now.
@@Wayf4rer he's overpaid and not relevant. Card filler. He fights the bottom guys of the shallowest division and doesn't even get finishes. I'm happy for him.
I love Arlovski. What a crazy career the man has had. How many fighters have won UFC gold and they're still fighting over 15 years later, in the UFC, with a win streak?!
Andrei's a real legend of the sport. He's one of the few MMA Pioneers (he debuted in 1999) who is still around today. His career is one of many rises, falls and resurgences. Also considering the fact he's a former UFC Heavyweight champion, the man rightfully deserves a Hall of Fame induction soon.
@@mattreid8292 As much as we can appreciate Andrei for his longevity, he's a has-been as far as promotion is concerned. Andrei had his time and his fights admittedly are not exciting anymore because he's well past his prime and he's fighting merely to win, rather then 'kill' guys. We're happy for Andrei because he's old but he still manages to keep winning. Not because he's a relevant contender or anything.
He really was like a prototype of future guys. Had fast striking for a heavy and good subs and grappling. If his chin had held up he'd have been at the top forever.

Them putting this out makes me feel like he’s retiring on his next one. Will be a sad say to see Arlovski go. He accomplished so much in his prime and found a way to turn back his career while getting older and on a bad streak.
He took all the damage that would’ve been to his ears and moved it to his nose. That things been broken a few times Jaw too against Rumble Johnson, I believe
I remember desperately wanted him to retire after that 4 KO loss streak he suffered in Strikeforce. Kharitonov knocked him dead and I thought there is no way this man continue competing at a high level any more. That was over 10 years ago!

You forgot to mention he’s 7-1 in his last 8 and his loss was to Tom Aspinall, such a shame the ufc doesn’t promote him more
