Young riders pass tough test as King's Troop gets coronation-ready

- Young military riders have faced a critical horsemanship test which determines if they can ride with the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in the coronation parade.
The King's Troop will play a crucial role in the coronation, firing a historic six-gun salvo, at the moment the crown touches the monarch's head.
The Advanced Mounted Gunner Pass Out is the final test that young riders must ace to be allowed to take part in the coronation.

Absolutely, illustrated by the fact that Major Sykes, Commanding Officer of the King's Troop, is wearing the ribbon of The Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan and the ribbon to the left of it (partially obscured) may also be a campaign medal.
The King's Troop is a purely ceremonial unit.
@@Hon.N.Q.C.G. King's Troop is staffed by regular Army Artillery Members who are posted in and out of different Artillery postings as per the normal posting cycles. A posting into the King's Troop reads well on a soldier's service record.
The King's Troop, RHA, is my favorite British military unit. They're so spectacular when they perform, so precise. They're a treat to watch.
I love watching the Kings Troop. Great horsemanship.
I admire the King's Troop riding abilities and horse handling skills. For being also combat troops, they have remarkable skills with the horses and I notice quite a few females in the troop who appear to be well suited for their jobs, showing professionalism and great attention to their mounts. Good show. It is so nice to see our young women and men doing something that will earn them a place in history. And, not like poliiticians, they have put themselves forward to serve their country, rather than just be a drain on it. Congratulations to all you members of the armed forces.

Well the majority of the Kings Troop are women so it makes sense most of the leadership would be female.
The Kings Troop is a purely ceremonial unit, plus women like horses so I can see why it’s appealing to females.
