  • Just me and my trusty Takamine EF341SC covering one of my favorite Betablokka songs. Superb lyrics by Matt Hanlon. I get locked up at 1:55 (because it's LIVE, folks, with no autotune!) but otherwise quite happy with this cover. Enjoy! BE SURE TO ALSO CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO: • STONE TEMPLE PILOTS "P...

I just listened to this two times and I can't even hear the mistake you said you made at 1:55. I saw Betablokka live at Bandslam in 2003 and this sounds just like the last song that they played.

How funny that I landed here when I was trying to search for versions of Bruno Mars song also called Grenade. I now like this Grenade song too.

*****THIS WAS MATT HANLON'S RESPONSE BY EMAIL TO THIS VIDEO:*****
"Just saw this man. Holy shit! Thank you so very much. That was one of the coolest most humbling things I've ever watched. To think you were a part of the very first live performance I ever did makes it way cooler. So stoked. Thanks man.
    Cheers man. Stay in touch.
    Much love,
    Matt" (September 13, 2016)

Omg!!!! For three years this band was my everything!! I am still good friends with three of the band members and they would be so impressed with this;) (one has already commented). It was my dream to bring the boys back together again....not sure if it will come true, but for now, this will do;) Thanks Miss Erin for posting this💜

Hey! Now two Betablokka members (Matt & Shayne) have commented with kudos!
Gotta somehow get Zane Whitfield & Jon Midwood to see this!

Shayne Bampton (Betablokka's Drummer) posted "Great Cover of a great song!" and I'll agree.
I'm always checking out local Kingston upcoming talent, there seems to be so much of it in this city, there must be something in the water. I remember Betablokka and hearing this song on K-rock. This version definitely doesn't suck. And what a nice confirmation that Betablokka Drummer Shayne Bampton himself gave you compliments on your cover.
And now just noticed that Betablokka leader Matt Hanlon did too!

Great job man... nice that you got actual band member feedback too... that's what I always liked about those guys back in the day... they talked and carried on with their fans like everyday people...
I wonder if it's true that Shayne used to kick Matt in the nads right before a set so he could nail those high notes... heh heh... just kidding...

"you pull the pin throw it up in the air, watch it explode, now tell me do you care, and you stand and you stare". To me this song is about lovers that do something to ruin your relationship then profess innocence and ignorance about having done it! By the way I really like your version of this song, I have Betablokka's Elephant album and Grenade is my favourite song on it. You should consider doing a version of "In and Out and Away"

thanks! My husband hadn't picked up the guitar in over 2 months and chose this song as his comeback! I recorded him as he pretty much nailed it on the second take which you see here!

Man that guitar sounds sweet, Takamines never disappoint. Song sounds good too, what tuning did you use on it?

I really like your Takamine buddy, that's the exact same model used by Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi isn't it? You've got a good voice and I liked your song.

My husband says you're right Clive, Bruce and Jon use the exact same model.
Thanks for your compliment too. Just want to be clear that "Grenade" is not his song, it was actually written by his friend Matt Hanlon who used to front the band Betablokka.
