I feel bad for anyone who goes up against simon. These former players just cannot articulate their arguments rightly or wrongly with the same level of knowledge and conviction
Quite simply the players live on another planet. Simon is spot on. The actual stupid wages and agent fees has pushed football to try and earn more money hence more games on tv. So unless you wana take a cut. Shut up and sit down.
Get rid of the international breaks in November and September and have a 2 week break. The problem is that the Christmas break games are big money makers.
This argument is very typical, and it always ends in the same way. No one wins; the plantation always gets burnt down. A well-paid slave is still a slave.
Keown loves the "without players theres no game" line . Well here's news for you Martin , no fans no game , no clubs no game and the majority of players will be working in low paid professions !!!!
As someone who was self employed for many years, I find it hard to side with the players. Some of us work long unsociable hours, 7 days a week and get on with it. I’d love to be in the position of a premier league player.
Simon is correct. Disgusting for players to go on strike. They’re paid hundred of thousands of pounds a week and endless recovery resources…. One congested weekend.
And Keown. Using Aguero as an example on how the sport is more demanding is abslutely ridicolous. The guy barely played a game. You need to raise the level of conversation if you want listeners. Sorry to say and merry Xmas I love this show!
Everybody seems to forget the most important part in all this and it's recovering time. It's a real thing and 1 day is definitely not enough. The quality of football suffers and the risk of players getting injury increases heavily. We have to bear in mind an injury for a player can literally impact their career or even sometimes end their career, because that's what it is for them, it's not just playing a game of football, it's their work. You can say 'well that's what a squad is for' but then you're basically forced into playing a weaker 11 in games which ruins the integrity of the competition.
But it gives much needed game time for player in dire need of it. Its ridiculous that pep bought million euros of bench and still not utilizing them to rest his crucial players for important fixtures.
Keown clueless as always, could the players be more out of touch with the working man/woman than now. Boo hooing because they've got to work a few days over the festive period. Rotation is easy but managers don't want to do it,
Simon is spot on. These guys get paid millions and all they do is moap. Its embarrassing get on with the games. It's the big club complaining the most.
Will players be threatening their clubs to withdraw their labour from lucrative pre-season tours? Will players be accepting a percentage pay cut in line with the percentage of fewer games played? Will players be financially compensating the broadcasters for the lost income of fewer games? Thought not!
Players collapsing due to burnout?? Hahaha oh Christ Martin Keown, how naive can you get? We all know why that's happening, you just don't want to face the truth.
It's the fault of the managers that players overplay and break down. You know these fixtures are coning months in advance, rotate the team accordingly. Play some U23s whilst a first-teamer is given a few days rest. It's pure entitlement when they whine about the workload, trying doing a 8 or 9 hour shift in retail over the Christmas period instead of whining about playong football for 90 mins every few days.
yeah, let's burn the players out. People don't realize how much goes into being the best players. look how much pressure fans put on players for not performing
I get they play alot but come on football is a intense game at the amateur level I could only imagine at the professional Level they’re humans as well. With that being said no fans here will tell you they’d like to see man city vs Liverpool with 7 changes for both sides
100 % right....It is long past time that those who are employed remember just that. Managers, trainers, and players get paid...they don't make the payments, but the whole ME societal attitude today is that MY opinion is the most important. MY rights...F F S...This is all turning into the mush of individuals claiming space to be seen, or showing how righteous they see themselves as. Simon nailed it....The rules are there to be followed until the authority itself alters them. Oh God for simpler times, when a player, or a manager was in line with what they are paid to do. Yawn an all of them...Klopp has become a moaner at the highest level, just to name one.
How are there more games than before? Haven't second legs and replays been scrapped? There's still 38 games in the Premier League, so how does this affect teams more than it always has?
No outrage last year or previous years, this guy who was a player for 20 years never ever spoke out against the congested fixture list, and players didn’t start collapsing in numbers until this year despite decades of a congested fixture list

The most sensible comment here, you've actually considered both sides unlike these SJ jackoffs in these comments
@@ibrahimsusman3961 haha couldn't of said it better everyone sucks of Simon it's embarrassing
Fair comment and well balanced, always good to see it from both sides.
Everyone has different situations , different situations bring different things we moan about blah blah. I personally think they should get on with it, but that's easy for me to say as I'm not the one in their shoes.
Wouldn't mind if I was hahahah
@@malone77 yeah its definitely a good problem to have being a footballer! Hahaha, the whole conversation is definitely a storm in a teacup compared to the rest of the problems in the world
Why don't they do what they did in the 50's as best as possible play local derbies over the 26th and 28th e.g. Liverpool v Everton, Man Utd v Man City home and away - cuts out travel for both players and supporters. Look what we have now my club Wolves have to go away to Arsenal on the 26th and then away to Utd on the 28th.
Keown thinks players are the most important people on this planet. They are millionaires that are getting paid to do a job. Do your fucking job
Perhaps a wage cut to address playing fewer games would be the solution ?
6:04 players falling over 💉🧫
I feel bad for anyone who goes up against simon.
Goooooo Simon. We are here for your facts. Keep spitting them.
He's a liar
What's he lying about
The only thing he's spitting is bs
@@Anthony-pw5gu or facts
@@adamcraven3427 definitely not facts
Get rid of the international breaks in November and September and have a 2 week break. The problem is that the Christmas break games are big money makers.
Yeah but fifa will kill them like how afcon and Asian games shouldn't be in the season
This argument is very typical, and it always ends in the same way. No one wins; the plantation always gets burnt down. A well-paid slave is still a slave.
Exactly
Aguero has barely played football since the start of 2020
Everybody seems to forget the most important part in all this and it's recovering time.
Simon is right 👍
Keowns heads gone😂😂😂😂
I've not seen a business model where people who gain the most benefit want little cost. The higher the benefit the higher the cost.
That’s why they have a squad. Keown has a very simplistic and frankly blinkered view of most issues. Spot on Simon.
That's what a 25 man squad is for a clever manager to use particularly over the festive season, and peak game stages of the season
All 25 are not all first teamers … they’re not all at the same level
Will players be threatening their clubs to withdraw their labour from lucrative pre-season tours?
Will players be accepting a percentage pay cut in line with the percentage of fewer games played?
Will players be financially compensating the broadcasters for the lost income of fewer games?
Thought not!
Keown used to go on the pitch and try hurt people. Talking rubbish about player welfare.
Players collapsing due to burnout?? Hahaha oh Christ Martin Keown, how naive can you get? We all know why that's happening, you just don't want to face the truth.
Listeners collapsing in fits of laughter at Keown's logic is the more likely possibility!
Simon is completely right on this point. Shut up keown
Bro the squads are massive, no excuse.
Whats the point of having 30+ players in the squad!? Fickle
Martin Keown trying hard to look like Talksport top lad clobber Simon Jordan. Where as Simon Jordan sounding deep like Martin Keown.
Or you could rotate. The squads are huge I don’t hear lower leagues complaining playing 47 games
The players are normally numpties on millions a year. Let them strike.
Keown isn’t a pundit
Aguero had several jabs probably.
We know why he dropped
Simon is absolutely bang on these pampered players wouldn’t know a days graft if it bit on the ass
Everytime Simon starts talking he has to mention that he was a football club owner 😂
....and by the time he's finished talking he's just owned someone, usually Keown lol
Players today are wee jessys, today's players are lifted and laid. They don't know how easy they have it. Brutal
The players agreed the contract to play when asked
Keown is the world's number one comedian; players 'downstairs,' and what they really want is 'respect.'' The joke of the century. Arise Sir Martin the King of comedy. What these enslaved, humiliated, downtrodden, downstairs millionaires at 20 want is even more loot, more women, more cars and more booze. Imagine the scene, player after tender, sensitive player at your favourite Premiership club appearing on TV, lips quivering with emotion, tears dripping down their red, booze-tinted cheeks emotionally declaring to the interviewers their sleepless nights and fragile states of mind as they battle to endure the lack of respect they receive. Hahahahahahahahahaha.
Then why have a squad martin
Fine, less games equals less TV revenue, in turn less money for clubs and less wages for players. Bet they won't like that. They're cry babies that want the best of everything
It's hilarious how Simon references 'cult leader' to Martin every time.
Most players get more money a week than most people in a year get on with it!!!
I agree and not just this season but for many years. The game inbetween boxing day and New Years is silly. There is no need of it
