If it ends up being an ANC DA coalition lets not have riots and if its an ANC EFF coalition lets not tank the rand. We have to get people to accept that whatever we get mow is likely temporary and we will probably end up rotating these pairings over the next 5 years while maintaining an ANC president. David raised an interesting issue Re Zuma getting arrested for contempt of court. Was Ramaphosa supposed to dictate to the highest court in the land Re Zuma. The president doesn't have those powers. If we accept that this could be the exception what would stop him/successor from dictating to a seperate branch of government again?
In fairness, the Zuma contempt of court was an open and shut case and nothing to do with the President. It played out live on national television. Zuma just left the Zondo Commission at lunchtime and never returned. He was called and given days to come back to the commission and never did. Any citizen would be found guilty of contempt.

I think it's wrong to say that the Palestine issue falls outside of the country, actually it's central, it's about if we are on the side of the West or against apartheid. It's a litmus test for what our own country will be handled, will we implement the western policies without question or make our own decisions.
I think that makes it a more abstract thing. In as much as it is fine to pursue geopolitical causes. It seems to me like it's taking up all the air in the room. Regionally I think a lot can change in the relationship between RSA & neighboring countries. That would have a more material impact on the lives of citizens. Lesotho, Eswatini, Namibia, KZN/MP/Mozambique border, LP/Zimbabwe border, SADC military intervention in DRC/Rwanda war, SADC military intervention in Mozambique, Angola folding their hands Re DRC/Rwanda, current govt endorsement of RSF leader & UAE client, etc. These issues are closer to home and can be improved on or worsened by the stance of the new government. Their impacts will be felt more greatly by an average citizen
